SO... i am a 20 year old atheist agnostic... i was raised catholic and my boyfriend of two years is episcopalian-"catholic lite," he calls it- "all the great taste with half the guilt." He fervently avoids the topic of what he and i really know to be true on 'spiritual' matters, although he once told me that he is utterly terrified of a nothingness after death, and lives on Pascal's Wager. He is an engineering major, heavily political, and just got into martial arts. Here's the problem- he is now a big believer in chi, or xi, or however you'd like to spell it. He says his master moves things without touching them and shatters metal bars over his head with no injury, and that his family friend can work out knotted muscles simply by laying his hands upon you. My boyfriend is professing this chi to be proof that a god exists. Are there studies about this? My mind is SCREAMING bullshit. I want proof, not doctored videos of street magicians. I do not want this to come between us...so far we've tolerated each other's beliefs very well, but this is somehow more important. Has anyone else been in this sort of situation?
