And after all the people that died in 1 & 2, they might just go ahead and kill off humanity in 3. Could be fun. They should have a disclaimer though that tells kids that if they don't start questioning religion now they will look like the covenent by the age of 22

In one point of the books, doesn't cortana remark that the Covenant cannot advance because they only reerse engineer forerunner stuff?

However, having read the Halo books, I think I can safely say this: Nobody can kill the Master Chief. He batted away a warhead with his arm! When he was 16, before he even got in his armor, he beat 4 fully trained marines nearly to death with his bare hands! Yeah, Cortana said that the Covenant were a very inefficient race, with no true ingenuity or innovation.
