Tom Bourges

1. What is your name? Who named you? Why? Do you have a nickname?
A: My name is Tom Bourges. I am told my mother named me Tom because she wanted a very simple name for her kid, so it is my full first name, it's not Thomas or anything. Bourges is my dad's last name, and I think it is Portuguese or Spanish or something. I have no middle name.

2. Who are your parents, names, ages? Any siblings?
A: My mom is Sarah Meltzer, and I am not sure how old she is, because I have not seen her since I was a kid. My dad is Angelo Bourges, age 48. I don't have any siblings, and I live with my dad. My parents were divorced when I was 9, and ever since then, me and my dad have been moving from city to city, because he can't keep up with rent every single time. My mom is German and Jewish, and my dad is Portuguese and doesn't really care about God too much.

3. Where were you born? Where did you grow up? What brought you to Malibu or Why did you transfer to P.C.A.? (if your a student)
A: i was born and spent the first 9 years of my life in Brooklyn, New York City. Me and my dad came to Malibu for the same reasons we came to every other town or city we've lived in; we needed a fresh start in a far away location. Again.

4. What is your birthdate? How old are you?
A: My birthdate is October 28th. I am 16 years old.

5. What grade are you in?
A: I'm a Junior.

6. What do you want to be when you get older?
A: I just want some sort of job that can support me. I might not even go to college.

8. What is your favorite thing to do?
A: I really like to play the guitar, but I haven't in a while, because we can't afford to buy me an actual instrument with strings and such. I used to play my friend's guitar every day, but he's back in Portland. I could always meet someone else who owns one, but most people really are not worth talking to.

9. What are some of your likes? Dislikes?
A: I like money, food, guitar, not being bothered or the center of attention, big cities, and my dreads. I dislike annoying or stupid people, being poor, people who are too aggressive, like my dad, small hick towns, and really bad jobs like working at McDonalds, which I have done in the past.

10. Are the majority of your friends guys, or girls?
A: When you move around as much as I, you learn that putting in all the effort to make friends really is not worth it. I prefer social camouflage.

11. Did you want to come to Malibu/P.C.A.?
A: I honestly didn't really care. I just don't think my dad wanted to deal with me

12. How would you describe yourself, in five words?
A: Calm, quiet, underachiever, delinquent, smart.

13. What are your flaws?
A: Recently I have been on the antisocial side, because of all the moving me and my dad do. After a while, all the faces start to look the same, and I find no pleasure or worth in making new friends at every new school. So, I tend to keep to myself. But I'm still not home a lot. I love my dad and all, but I don't want to be around him all the time. I do pretty average in school, even though I know I could do better if I really tried and actually showed up for class more often. I shoplift a lot, usually for food, but for clothes, too.

14. What annoys you the most?
A: Cocky people who don't deserve to be so cocky. I have seen many faces, and most of the time the people who think they are so cool are not cool at all, especially small town folk. I also hate people who are cocky because they are rich or have good grades.

15. Do you get along with your family?
A: I have not talked to my mom in 7 years, and I guess I get along with my dad, although there is always a period of time where I refuse to talk to him right after we are forced to run away from yet another house or apartment when we can't pay the rent. I get frustrated sometimes also because he demands respect me from me and plays the parent card a lot, but I always just take it. He tends to intimidate people, also. But I know he's very sensitive on the inside, so I'm not too tough on him. He's a good person.

16. Are you a shy person? Or more on the outgoing side?
A: Neither. I am fine with talking to people and strangers, I just choose not to, because I don't want to.

17. Are you a virgin?
A: Yes. Most of my relationships don't last very long.

18. How do you like to dress?
A: I have my own style. I have a lot of influences that I picked up from different cities. I would say it's a mix between ghetto and grunge.

19. Do you believe in love?
A: I really don't know. Maybe not. My parents sure as hell never found love.

20. Who was your first boyfriend/girlfriend? How old were you?
A: I was 10, and it was Willa Beckman. I asked her out a few days before elementary school graduation, then summer started and I never saw her again. Not exactly a real relationship.

21. Do you regret anything in your life?
A: I regret the way I have to live my life.

22. Do you have any secrets? If so, what are they?
A: There are certain things I don't tell people, like how my parents are divorced, or how me and my dad are dirt poor, although I'm sure everyone can see it.

23. Do you have any pets?
A: No.
