WESTLIFE
The Love Album

Like snazzy cars with six-speed gearboxes, Crocs and pink shirts, four-boy bands are the current fashionable flavour and, as groups, go Westlife is one of the more talented and entertaining foursomes around at the moment.
This album, rather cleverly, contains 11 songs which have been around for a while; good, easily recognizable songs of the type likely to appeal to music fans who drink beer out of glasses, not straight out of the bottle, and who wear their caps the right way around.
The four lads — Kian, Mark, Nicky and Shane — look like good, clean-cut, decent sort of chaps that you wouldn’t mind your daughter bringing home. But they look (and often sound) a little young and immature, so by clever song selection they are aiming at a more senior (read big spender) market.
And they succeed remarkably well, because it’s difficult to fault songs like 'You Light Up My Life', 'You Are So Beautiful', ' Love Can Build a Bridge', 'You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling' and an old personal, very special favourite, 'The Rose'.
Even if their voices are nothing spectacular they do what they do in a gentle, easy-flowing style with good back-up, particularly by skillful piano work.
Overall a very pleasant album that fully deserves whatever success comes its way. These lads are onto something good.
