Despite the fact our interview is first thing in the morning and they both have colds, Jedward's energy is boundless. They even delight in demonstrating Glade Shake n’ Vac, the retro carpet-freshening product they’re currently promoting.
As they give us a shouty rendition of the ad’s famous theme tune, John sprinkles the heavily-scented powder around, and on, new’s feet. It’s all highly surreal.
Cleaning products aside, there’s a lot coming up for the 18-year-old twins, who were catapulted to fame on The X Factor last year. A tour with Westlife is in the pipeline, after which they’re off to conquer Japan.

You’re going on tour with Westlife. Are they happy about that prospect?
John: They personally requested us.
Edward: They want to get all our fans in.
Really? So you’re going to help Westlife get a bit more “down with the kids”?
John: We’re going to get the whole crowd ready for Westlife and it’ll be so big and really high-energy and stuff. And then Westlife will come on and sit on stools…
Edward: [Laughing] We’re going to throw paint at their white suits!
