Woman missing since Thursday in Huron Township
By SARAH WEBER | Sunday, November 8, 2009 1:45 AM EST Authorities are looking for a 58-year-old Huron Township woman who hasn’t been since Thursday evening. Family of Carla A. Westhofen reported her missing Friday after she failed to show up for an appointment. Her car, a tan 2002 GMC Envoy, license plate number AXS 6883, is also missing. “She is a very detail-oriented person ... she would not leave her cat without food and water, she wouldn’t leave food on the stove,” said Carla’s daughter-in-law, Caroline Dahnkey, Vickery. Dahnkey said Westhofen talks with her and her husband, Todd, almost every day and talked to her neighbor several times a day. It’s highly unusual she would leave without telling anyone. Erie County Sheriff’s Capt. Paul Sigsworth said, “We’re very concerned for her welfare at this point.” Westhofen was last seen at a Huron Township tavern at about 9 p.m. Thursday. She is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, about 130 pounds. She was wearing a red leather coat, blue jeans and boots. Dahnkey described Westhofen as a vivacious woman who is always working on a project — yard work, visiting people or cooking. She is a retired respiratory therapist and loves taking care of people. Sigsworth said her information and her car’s information were entered into a national missing person’s database. He said if anyone has any information about Westhofen’s disappearance or whereabouts, they should call the sheriff’s office. “We’re just hoping for the best,” Dahnkey said. Can you help? Anyone with information is asked to call the Erie County Sheriff’s office at 419-625-7951 ext. 0 http://www.sanduskyregister.com/articles/2...24669199836.txt |

Slain woman's body found near Erie Monday, November 09, 2009 The Associated Press FAIRVIEW, Pa. -- An autopsy is set on the body of an Ohio woman found dumped in Erie County. Pennsylvania State Police say the dead woman is 58-year-old Carla Westhofen of Sandusky, Ohio. Police from Ohio have charged the woman's boyfriend with murder and kidnapping, but they say 56-year-old David Kromer remains at large. Erie County District Attorney Jack Daneri says the woman's body was found Saturday in Fairview Township, about 10 miles southwest of Erie. Mr. Daneri says it appears the woman had been stabbed several times. Police in Ohio say the victim was last seen Thursday night. She was reported missing by her family on Friday. |
