The muscular form of a tall Slytherin sixth year opend the large doors to the entrance hall, a deathly scowl upon his face. His strides were long and powerful and the male reeked of pride and dominace. The swift thudding of his feet hitting the stone floor echoed around the large room. He was heading towards the grand center staircase.

His hair was jet black, long, silky and healthy, he obviosly took pride in his appearence. This was apparent in the manner he dressed himself too. His sleek black robes were smart and whisped behind him as he swiftly travelled across the room. His eyes were a sort of misty grey, like great stormclouds from above. He was quite a handsome man only that scar that trailed down the his cheek let him down. Some boy had lashed at him with a knife. Ofcourse his attacker had paid for that dearly...

Though Braken didn't particularly want to, he supposed he would socialise with other students this year, if he really must. Not even his fellow Slytherins interested him, but for the sake of having someone to pick on he had decided he might start to socialise a little more. He would force himself to.
Last year he had spent most of his time locked away studying, infact the year before that he'd done the same, and the year before that too. He didn't have friends, he didn't need them. Braken had only really talked with the proffesors. He wasn't a 'suck up', merely interested in what they had to say. He wanted to learn, he wanted to be the most powerful wizard across the lands, and the only way to do that was to study hard.

"So this is it another hogwarts year..." He mutterd to himself coldly. A new year, and new changes. He wonderd if they had gotten any new proffesors, or Prefects. Ofcourse Braken had no intentions of listening to anything a prefect might tell him, infact most things anybody might tell him. He wasn't about to stand for the great arrogance they all seemed to hold. The same arrogance that he held. Which was probably what wound him up even more. He wanted a high title and wouldn't settle for any less. If it ment wripping the damn badge from someones chest then he'd do it.

His sleek black hair glistened in the dull light, shoulder height black hair bouncing upon his shoulders. Obsidian eyes gazed over the portraits with his usual glare as he reached the very top of the staircase, turning down one of the halls. That coldness, that callousness had draped itself across his exterior long ago and the reason was almost forgotten, lost amongst more important things.

Blair confidently strode into the Entrance Hall with her chin up. Her long golden blonde hair, which was straight today, swayed behind her as she walked. She looked fantastic today, as normal, in her untied robes. You could see underneath a pleated plaid Burberry smirt that was rolled up. Also, she was wearing a green Abercrombie and Fitch pol shirt.

Blair's silver eyes scanned around the room. She wasn't normally a loner, but she needed a break from her nagging friends for a bit. Blair spotted a boy about her age. He seemed like the Slytherin type, and she liked that. She kept looking around at all the paintings surrounding her. Some even resembled ones that were hagging up in her mansion.

Braken starred at the beautiful female who now stood not too far from he, grey stormcloud eyes piercing through her very soul. He was used to the awkward glances of strangers. Students trying their best not to offend him, not to let their eyes wander across the putrid scar that trailed down his cheek. It no longer upset him merely made him the bitter and twisted man he was today.

His wicked glare was threatening and ofcourse Braken was just testing her, seeing how long this female could withstand his rude behaviour. Most didn't last long, though he had come across afew. His most recent a girl named Rose, who had persisted in trying to befriend him even though he had bombarded her with snide comments. The male had given her credit though, for with-standing his generally callous nature. She was a Hufflepuff though and he wasn't about to befriend somebody from another house. That would just be foolish. It wasn't his fault he'd turned out like this though, it was in the blood.

"Braken WhiteFire" He said cooly a malicious tone lingering upon his lips. He was actually attempting to converse with another student! A rare sight indeed. Still he didn't show too much intrest, mysterious silver orbs drifting back to the paintings before she could answer. Almost silencing her to some extent. Obviously more pressing thoughts were at hand. He stood quietly for a minute or two before his eyes fell upon the stranger once more. Having decided she was worthy of some of his time. "Slytherin sixth year" He said in his usual smooth tone, now permitting her the chance of answering back...

Blair sharply turned around on her heel gracefully. She learned this useful trick from ballet lessons. She glared back at him. "Blair Duchess," she said sternly. Blair knew how to play hard to get and did it very often. "Also Slytherin 6th year." She walked very slowly, but confidently over to him. She still had a mix between a smirk and a glare on her face. This guy had to earn her trust and friendship. And Blair didn't give it away very easily.

Braken chuckled to himself in a rather superior manner, brow raised as he starred at the female before him. She was smirking quite smugly, still trying to keep a glare upon her features, or perhaps it was the other way around? Braken couldn't care less. He wasn't all that interested in talking to her, mainly because he wasn't used to talking to other students. Still things woul dhave to change sooner or later.

"Slytherin ay?" He questioned, showing the female alittle more repect and interest than he had done before. He paused for a moment before continuing. "I had a feeling you might be." said Braken cooly, silver eye's slowly wandering over her, fixing upon her green top momentarily. "Though I wasn't completely sure." He stated, sharply looking up once more, gaze meeting hers. She was a very beautiful female but Braken had no intrest in persuing a relationship? Did he? Most probably not. He was far too busy for such things. "Still the risk payed off I suppose." Braken was reffering to the risk of having began a conversation with a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, or even worse a Gryffindor. They were so up themselves, so loyal and 'honourable'. Pompus gits.

Somewhere within his cool voice lay the echo's of scarlet whispers. His mind having always been plagued with ill thoughts. Well for aslong as he could remember atleast. Had his childhood really been that bad? He couldn't remember, he didn't want to remember. Tossing his head as if throwing these thoughts from his mind he spoke once more.
"Its nice to meet you...I suppose" He added, trying to recall basic etiquette.

[COLOR=green][FONT=Geneva] Blair looked back at Braken. 'Hmm... he's muscular. That's always a plus. Great hair color, but I'm not crazy about the length, but that's not a major issue, so I guess another plus,' she thought to herself as she gave him her infamous once-over. Then she looked straight into his eyes, a very daring move. They were a misty grey color, slightly like hers. But when they looked at you, it seemed as if they knew what you were thinking, and could see what was in your soul. Blair quickly snapped out of it, not losing her cool.

"Nice to meet you, too, umm.... Braken," she said with a feeling of ease about her. She gave him a half smile, as not to seem desperate, for she wasn't.

"Well, how do you like Hogwarts? This is my first year here, I used to go to Beauxbatons," started Blair, trying to keep up the conversation, seeing that he wasn't much of a conversational person.

Braken had noted her question, but choose not to answer it straight away. He was quite busy, within his head that was. Various thoughts and problems bombarded his mind and he orderd them, coming up with sensible sollutions to each. It seemed he worked differently to others. Maybe it was because he hadn't really had any friends? No chance to learn of how others work. Merely pressuming his way of thinking and acting was normal.

Blair had stuck around, and so he gave her credit for that. Now his voice had lost coldness it had held before and his body language became a little more relaxed. Though he didn't exactly show it he had warmed to her, if ever so slightly, and was now begining to show her more respect. Which was a hard thing to gain from Braken.

"...It's okay" He said rather bleakly, now choosing to answer. "There are a hanful of talented proffesors here." He said no more of Hogwarts merely decided to question her instead.
"A beauxbaton, can't say im suprised" He stated smoothly. Beauxbatons held a rather large amount of beautiful women, or so he had noticed from his studies of Wizarding Schools. "Why did you transfer here?"

Blair saw that Braken was starting to lossen up around her. She did the same, which was only something she did around possible friends. She wondered if she should answer right away or not. She finally settled on checking her fingernails and then looking back up at Braken.

"Well my father thought that I wasn't paying enough attention to my studies there so he decided to transfer me," Blair answered him.

Braken raised a brow, a smirk passing over his features. He wonderd momentarily if her father was anything like his? Nothing Braken ever did pleased his father. Not even his exceedingly high grades made him proud. At the end of last year Braken had begun to slip slightly. He was sick of not being able to ever do right. Afew of his grades had dropped a and this year he wasn't too sure what he'd do. Ofcourse his father had punished him and it would probably be best to just bump them back up again, but still he couldn't help be annoyed by the whole situation.

"Tut tut naughty girl" Braken said smoothly now shifting his weight, that grin still upon his jaw. He placed his hands in the pockets of his smart black trousers, pushing aside his ebon Hogwarts robe. His misted silver eyes wanderd over her once more. It was almost impossible to read what was going on within his mind as his orbs didn't often hold much emotion and when they did it was all coldness. Right now those grey stormcloud opts were emotionless, only the current expression upon his features gave some clue to what was going on up there...

Gaze drifting slowly to a nearby portrait Braken was silent for a moment. He wasn't finding talking to her particularly difficult. Whether this was because she was easy to talk to or simply because she was leading the coversation he didn't know. Though for someone who had never really had any friends he thought he was doing suprisingly well in making one. He took his left hand from his pocket and ran it backwards through his locks of healthy black hair before returning his hand to the small slit in his trousers that was one of his pockets.
"My grades slipped slightly last year" He stated, eyes locking with hers once more as he realised they'd wanderd over her emerald top for a little too long. He remained cool though, that smug-ness always seemed to linger about his exterior. "I got a punishment ofcourse, but he's always saying Hogwarts is the best school around so I doubt he'd ever transfer me."

Blair actually thought that Braken was quite lucky for being punished by his father. That was because his father punishing him showed that his father actually paid some attention to him, unlike her own father. After her mother had died, her father spoiled her silly, but was always away for buisiness. She had everything a girl could want, except for parents that were there for her. This was her one true weakness, but she wasn't about to let him know that.

"Oh really? Well, my dad isn't exactly the punishing type. More like the bribing type," Blair yawned slightly.

She once again gave him a once-over. That's when she noticed his scar. BLair wasn't one to care about those things, but she decided to ask about it anyway. "I know this is so off the topic but, do you mind telling me where you got that scar?" she questioned him.

Braken stood silently for a moment, slightly taken back by her question. He hadn't been expecting it and suddenly felt himself becomming rather aggressive and defensive. He had grown too used to the murmers of others as he passed and was so occustomed to slating them back with snide comments that it was difficult for him to stop sharp words rolling from his tongue...

"Mind your own buisness" He spat maliciously, turning his head quite suddenly so she couldn't see the scar that trailed down his cheek. He could feel his cheeks burning up but luckily they showed no change in colour, merely prickled with anger and embaressment. But Braken had instantly regretted his words, wishing he hadn't been so rude to her. Blair was only asking afterall and it wasn't as if she'd said anything nasty.

"I'm umm...I-" Braken tried to apologise but he just wasn't used to it. Giving up on the apology he slowly turned his head once more though his gaze didn't meet hers. Infact it lingerd anywhere but. "...Some idiot slashed me with a knife down at the Hogs-Head, in Hogsmeade. Got in abit of a scuffle..." He mutterd, shifting his weight uneasily as he now took his hands from his pockets and folded his arms, leaning back ever so slightly. "He paid for it though" Braken stated smoothly, a deathly glint flickering in his silver eyes momentarily.

Blair started to feel sympathy for Braken, although she knew he probably didn't need it. She thought how horrible it would be to get hurt so bad. The worst she had ever felt pain was when she sprained her ankle in ballet, trying to do a difficult jump, which she eventually mastered.

"God, that sounds dreadful. Getting slashed with a knife, I mean," she told him, trying not to offend him.

"Well, I barely noticed it, at first. I mean why should I care about a scare, right?" she quickly added. Blair looked directly at Braken, and saw that he was trying to look anywhere but at her.

"I'm sure you got him back well," Blair tried to compliment him. She realized that she was babbling. 'God I talk too much!' she tought safely to herself. Blair waited for Braken to say something, letting him lead the conversation any way he wanted for a change.

His mouth twitched awkwardly, as if he'd never smiled before. Most probably because he never really did. Braken could remember the last time he'd been happy, or even slightly happy. He didn't have friends to hangout with, to laugh and muck around with, like everyone else had. True he didn't particularly care to but a part of him wonderd what it would be like to care for another. To want to spend time with them. Thats right he didn't care for anybody else. Not his mother, not his father nor his baby sister. He hated them all. His mother had...she'd...well he didn't like to talk about it, let alone think about it. He and his father had never been close and well his little sister Yasmin wasn't really apart of him. Not truely atleast. She'd sort of...replaced him.

His thoughts were soon cleared and the swift and rather sudden flicker of warmth in his emotionless silver opts said it all. Even if it had only remained their for a split second or so, it had still been there. Thanking Blair for her kind words. Braken had never been complimented before. Well he had...but that was only by teachers, it was some what different coming from a student, someone his own age.

He said nothing more on the subject, merely nodded his head briefly. Brakens misted silver gaze met hers once more and this time he held it. It was now upto him to lead the conversation and he felt slightly under pressure. Words soon rolled from his tongue though and they escaped from his mouth in his usual smooth, cool tone...
"So have you made many friends yet?" Braken enquired now gesturing for her to follow him as he slowly began to strowl down the corridor. This had simply been the first thing that had sprung to mind. He didn't have any friends here, never had, and so he was used to being alone, Blair on the other hand... Well she was a pretty young girl, bound to have been popular at her old school. He wonderd how things were fairing out for her here?

Blair decided to go along with Braken when he motioned for her to follow. She had to quicken her pace a little to keep up with his long strides. She could tell he was not used to having friends, he seemed like the loner type. It was unlike Blair to follow someone, considering she liked to lead. But she figured that Braken seemed like a possible friend.

When Braken mentioned friends, Blair's thoughts went directly back to her old school. She remembered all the friends she had there. She knew she was probably the most popular girl in her, and most other, year. All the girls were dying to be like her, and all the guys to go out with her. Blair could determine if you were popular. If she liked you, you were in. If not, you better get out of her way, or else. She wasn't the violent type. Oh no. She used her knowledge of everyone's secrets to harm you. She knew deeep things about anyone and everyone, so it was best to stay on her good side. "Well, I've made a few friends here, but not nearly as many as I had in my old school," Blair replied with a slight sigh at the memory.

"How about you? Do you have many friends here?" she said, just to be polite.

He found that his feet were taking him towards the library, now heading for the correct set of stairs. Silver eyes wanderd over the portraits, glancing back to Blair every now and then. She had asked about his friends. 'What friends' was the first thing that sprang to his mind. A grin passed across his lips as various thoughts made themself present within his head.

Finally deciding to answer the words oozed from his mouth and he briskly turned a corner. "My studies prevent me from making many friends" He stated, mysterious silver eyes lingering upon her frame. "Prioritise." That one word said it all. Was knollege really that important to him? Well it had served him well over the years. It wasn't rude to him, it merely helped him. Who could ask for a better friend?
However Braken had set his heart -presumming he had one- upon actually making some friends this year. Blair had been his first victim, or so to speak. He wonderd what she thought about him, but wasn't sure whether asking was a normal thing to do...

"If you ever need anybody...to....ummm" Braken paused over his wording. To put it simply he wanted to be-friend her, but wasn't quite sure how one went about this. "...To show you around, i'd be happy to" Momentarily he looked slightly repulsed as if he were about to be sick. His words were sort of spat from his tongue, as if he didn't quite like the way they tasted. Unsure of whether this was what he wanted or not. Still it was too late to stop himself now, he was too far gone. "I mean, what are friends for" His gaze locked with Blairs and he starred quite threateningly. Ofcourse he hadn't ment to, he was merely watching for how she would react to his offer...
