I am kind of torn on this one, but I would have to go for either David Horowitz or Adam Smith.

Shakespeare. Absolutely hands-down all the way heck yes.

(I don't want to see any posts trying to convince me he didn't really write anything; that's so bogus it's not even funny anymore)

Aside from him, I don't know. I don't read as many books as I should.

Fiction? Then it'd probably be H.P Lovecraft.

F. Paul Wilson

What are his books about?

Well, the "hero" of the books is Repairman Jack... he fixes situations in interesting ways. Jack is righteous, the über vigilante who always makes the "bad guys" pay dearly for their crimes. All of the Repairman Jack novels are brilliantly written... but they are just a part of the whole series.

To fully understand F. Paul Wilson's world, you must start with the book The Keep. The Keep does not feature Jack, it takes place during WW2 in Romania. There is an Otherness and an Ally behind the scenes... it is brilliant, so you should just read it :P

After The Keep comes The Tomb. In this book you will meet Jack. Absolutely brilliant book. The Tomb is part 2 of the The Adversary Cycle. Six books in all, and you really won't even fully comprehend the connections behind them all until the final book, Nightworld.

There are numerous Repairman Jack stories that are not technically part of The Adversary Cycle, but they do fit in... just realize that Nightworld is definitely the last story.

The essence of all of the repairman Jack books (10 books so far), is that of revenge. Revenge of good people wronged by scumbags. They hire him to "fix" their problems, and he is not bound by constitutional restrictions ;)
