Midnight Train

As Lauren slept with her head in Sean's laptop, a cold breeze came in through the doors and brushed over her body. It caused her to shift, and woke her. In order to stay low profile, and avoid Sean using his abilities, since they were already being hunted by the Black Circle, she had convinced him to take the train for the remainder of the trip to England.

They were in France now, awaiting for their midnight train to arrive. The clock was ringing 11h00 just now, and the wait would soon be over. Just days earlier, Lauren had been pulled into a strange premonition. Usually, they were nightmares, this one had been a dream. There had been no pain, and it was the first time she had woken with a full memory of it.

Evie. That' who she had seen. The fight was the previous month had stuck in her mind, and given her directions to her home. How she knew, she had no idea, but her mind had somehow figured out a pattern and found her. Of course, the phone books and internet searches had also helped.

Surrey. That was the place. Lauren had never been, and neither had shown, but they did have a photo of the house, of Evie, since she had been a part of the MedTech team, her image had been posted on their website as the Biologist and Researcher. This had been a lucky break for them.

As Lauren shifted once more, she felt Sean's hand brush over her side, then brush away a few strands of hair from her face. Her eyes blinked several times, but slowly, until they eventually opened and she sat up. Her hair fell across her left side as she kept her body weight up with her arms, and her legs stretched out across the bench. Their bags were just in front of them, sitting there, waiting for them to get a move on to the train. Her body slowly turned, her eyes looking into his before her head turned, and her eyes caught the clock.

"I slept a long time. Are you hungry? Maybe we can find something to eat before we get on the train?"

“Yeah,” Sean mumbled slightly, his contacts having a slight haze left over from the previous nap. He stood; a grunt would slip from his lips. He would bite on his bottom lip then quickly move his hands to grip the front of his thighs, squeezing at them.

“Damn, my legs are stiff.” Complaining was a rarity to be seen from Sean, he always had plenty to complain about, like every other worthless soul, but he didn’t feel the need.

Finally he would shake the stiffness off, his fingers slipping around her back as they stepped out of the door, into the main hallway. He looked for a sign, pointing for the closest restaurant.

“What do you want?” His strong Aussie accent bleeding through each and every syllable he spoke.

They had just crossed into England, the rich green country side passing quickly by them. It was the typical saying, everything was entirely too quiet. The car which had been immensely packed a few hours earlier was empty. Little did they know, that the car had been “cleared” out due to the Black Circle. Sean wasn’t aware of the name of the organization, only that they wanted them dead.
He continued to look out the window as the scenery started to pass slower and slower, as if they were stopping. He quickly looked out the window, the main train speeding ahead.

"Don’t move!” A rather raspy voice pressing into the back of Sean’s ear.

Sean froze, his hands still gripping tightly around Laurens’ hand. “Ready?” He simply asked.

The raspy voice ran a cold shiver down her spine, and her feet came to an immediate stop, just as Sean's had done to him. Despite his ability to blink, her emotions were too wild in every direction to bring any sens of relief over her body. She was stiff and unable to move. Her eyes remained open, wide and unblinking, while her chest didn't rise nor fall. Her breathing had stopped altogether, as if she was frozen.

Sean's words brought a sens of reality back to her, and she felt his hand tickle around her own. Where would they blink too? How had they found them? They had been running for days, which felt more like years. She just wanted to be safe, as they had once been in Australia, living their normal lives. Perhaps his extensive use of blinking had put them in danger, and was that her fault for suggesting it so many times?

Finally, she blinked and her fingers tightned around his with more grip.

"Go." she whispered, and with a sudden movement, had spun her body left. She rolled into his arms, head sinking into his chest with eyes tightly closed.

His fingers moved around her sides, bringing her body closer. Sean’s eyes closed; within the same instant the air around his body became deathly cold, followed by a crack that would damage anyone’s ears. Their bodies vanished, floating through the air, his mind trying to lock down a place that was safe to go. This was a first for her, he always knew where to go, how to get there, never before had she been suspended in time, invisible to anyone around. It was an eerie feeling, freezing cold.

Finally, his mind locked, their bodies appearing within an immense crowd of people in London, England. He looked at her, bringing her body close as they quickly began to walk towards nowhere. Every few moments he would look back, glancing over all of the people, looking for anyone suspicious.

Quickly he turned a corner, moving down an alley, then through a set of wooden doors. It was a safe haven, he owned it, had owned it for quite some time. Once inside he would lock the door, push her back to the wall, then press his lips roughly to hers.

“You okay?” He simply asked, looking at her. The thrill of the hunt was on, and Sean wasn’t one to be the hunted.

The cold that took over her body was nearly intolerable . There was no physical reason as why her body limbs felt crushed by ice and why her lungs felt no oxigen entering through her lips. Then there came a sudden slip as they reached the world. Physical ice this time cause her body to go weak, but that wasn't the only reason. As Sean pulled her back up against, pulling her quickly down an alley way.

"Where are we going?" she asked softly, trying to catch her breath.

The door swung open, and she was pulled inside. Her body rested against the door, but was suddenly turned by his hands. His lips warmed her own frozen ones, and then he held her so close.

"What happened, Sean?" she asked, nearly in sobs due to her heavy breathing. Her chest was in pain. She wasn't one meant to travel time. As she looked up at him, her eyes had faded but she would alright, her body was already warming. "What happened? Where did we go?"

"London." He said, his arm placed beside her head, their lips graciously touching. "London, England." He would repeat, the expression upon her face never changing. Sean thought she was disoriented.

"Need to lay down? Take a nap?" He would ask, ever so politely.

Finally, Sean would take a step back, turning around. The room was small, however safe. The walls were lined in a thick metal, however on top of the walls was a sheet of sound proofing so it wouldn't look so daft. His fingers trailed over one of the tables that had collected dust from the ventilation of the building.

"We can stay here for a while. I have money in a foot locker over there. We'll be fine as long as we stay low."

Sean turned around to look back at her, he knew it was a lot for her to take in. "Got it?" He asked, his voice rather stern.

"Also, don't take this the wrong way. I wasn't hiding anything from you."

"London." she repeated, still rather breathlessly. Her eyes then closed, and her head tilted back to rest against the wall. Thankfully soft, since it had more so fallen than been placed there. She took a few long and heavy breaths in order to get back on track for both her body and mind, then pulled her body from the world and looked around the small room she was standing in.

"Why didn't you tell me about this?" she then asked, while her fingers rose to run through her mangled blonde locks of hair. She pulled lightly, then let go before she returned her gaze to him, instead of the room.

"You could of told me that you had other places. You're so secretive sometimes." She hadn't meant for him to tell her all the details of his life, nor what he did before they had met, but perhaps if she knew all there was to know about him, she might be able to help and avoid situations like the one they had just found themselves in. Stuck in time had been mind blowing to her, and she was still suffering from it, event moments afterwards.

A rather long sigh came out of his mouth, his fingers trailing along the mahogany desk behind him. He then turned, then leaned his wait against this dark wood, his gaze returning to her. His arms moving up his chest, then his lips slowly spread.

"There's a lot you don't know, well, about my powers I should say." He took in a another deep breath, looking at the worried expressions upon her face. "I can control myself a lot better than you could have ever thought, I've pushed my limits to the extremes, and suspending myself in air, like earlier, is just the beginning."

He shuffled his feet lightly over the floor, his eyes closing as he sunk his head lightly. He wasn't upset, just trying to judge her reactions. "I just didn't want to freak you out, like I just did."

Finally he returned all of his weight back to his feet, then moved around the room, moving to a locker against the wall. He slowly opened the doors, then stepped aside...
