SCHOOL RULES
Prohibited: 1. The possession of medicines or drugs without permission. 2. The possession of any weapon. 3. Sexual misconduct. 4. Bullying of any kind. 5. Visiting a pupil of the opposite sex in a dormitory or bathroom without permission from Head of House or the Headmaster. 6. Smoking within the school building.. 7. The unauthorised consumption of alcoholic drinks. 8. Driving a motor vehicle, or driving another member of the School, without the special permission of the Headmaster. 9. Gambling within the school building or grounds. 10. Going onto the roof of any School building.
UNIFORM + Boys are required to wear: + white shirt (long sleeves in winter) + grey trousers + a school tie + black shoes + optional: grey sweatshirt or knitted sweater
+ Girls are required to wear: + a white shirt (long sleeves) + blue tartan skirt (must cover knees) + a school tie + black shoes + black over-the-knee socks or thick black tights + optional: grey sweatshirt or knitted sweater
For important occasions, students must wear a school blazer. In winter, students may wear a grey fleece in class.
CASUAL CLOTHES + Casual clothes may be worn before 8am and after 3pm. A conservative style is encouraged but not compulsory. Skirts must cover the knees and shorts much come to at least just above the knee.
HAIR + Boys' hair should not reach past the collar. + Girls' hair should not reach past the shoulderblades. + No un-natural hair colours permitted. + Styling products should not be used on hair when wearing school uniform, but may be used when in casual dress.
JEWELLERY + Only watches and piercing-jewellery may be worn during classes, and all should be removed during sports and dance lessons unless this is not possible - written permission should be obtained in this case. + Jewellery of any kind is permitted when not wearing school uniform.
HATS + Hats may only be worn as part of casual dress when leaving school premises.
MOBILE PHONES + Mobile phones must be switched off while on school grounds and may only be used when on trips out of school (not class trips). Anyone caught using their mobile phone on school grounds will have it confiscated for a month. (does not apply to teachers)
CURFEWS
First Form, Second Form, Third Form + must remain on the main school grounds before 6am and after 9pm. + must remain within their House between 10pm and 6am.
Fourth Form, Fifth Form + must remain on the main school grounds before 6am and after 10pm, unless they have permission from their Head of House. + must remain within their House between 11pm and 6am, unless they have permission from their Head of House.
Sixth Form + must be back on school grounds, within their House by 12am unless they have permission from their Head of House.
LEAVING SCHOOL GROUNDS
First Form, Second Form + may only leave school grounds in pairs, and on Saturdays and Sundays. They must return before curfew.
Third Form, Fourth Form + may leave school grounds in pairs on Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesday & Thursday evenings. They must return before curfew.
Fifth Form, Sixth Form + may leave the school alone any day of the week, but must have permission from their Head of House to return after curfew.
MOTOR VEHICLES
+ Students wishing to bring cars, motorbikes or other vehicles must have written permission from the Headmaster or their Head of House. + All vehicles must be licenced and insured to the student who brings the vehicle in. + Vehicles must be kept in the car park to the front of the building.
MEDICAL CENTRE
+ Any student wishing to visit the medical centre during class time must have a note from their class teacher.
+ Any student wishing to visit the medical centre outside of class time will not require a note.
+ Any student wishing to visit the medical centre during curfew must be accompanied by a prefect or Head of House.
SAFETY AND SECURITY
Alcohol, Drugs and Cigarettes + No narcotics or alcohol may be brought onto school premises by any student in the first to fifth years. Sixth and Seventh years must have permission from their head of house to bring alcohol, and may not bring narcotics of any kind.
+ Any student found in possession of narcotics will be suspended. Anyone found supplying drugs to other students will be expelled.
+ Smoking is not permitted within the school building. It is, however, permitted on the grounds and outside the building (but not in front of the main entrance) as long as cigarette ends are disposed of properly.
General
+ Students must not enter any science laboratory without a teacher present.
+ Knives, catapults, water pistols, blowpipes, laser pens, fireworks and firearms are banned.
+ Any mains-powered electrical items brought into the school must be tested and registered with the student's head of house.
+ Equipment being used by workmen on site must not be touched or used.
