I am working on computer company manager sim. The user take a role of a computer company like Dell, HP, Alienware etc. The user will be able to produce computers, and consoles later in the game PDAs, cell phones etc. The game will consist of two main databases, one for real life computer components and one for fictional components, if the user selects to use the fictional database, later then in the game the user can design it's own components, export them and share them with other users which can then import them into the game.
All components in the real life database and the fictional will have a year restriction, which means that all components are not available in the first year.
The game is going to be turnbased and with some difficult grades, choosing the easist one will result in more starting capital, easier to earn money, but the price on components will still be the same. Choosing the hardest at another hand, will result in less starting capital, and much harder to earn money, but the price on components will still be the same.
You will also be able to hire team members into your crew, and offcourse they will have salary. Some computers may also fail because of the user's lack of skill, can be raised by
training in the game, the outcome of the computers will be determit the skill of the team members, the skill of the user.
The game will also have a hotseat multiplayer mode up to 8 players, the players can create alliances or be harsh opponents.

I haven't come up with a good name yet, but I will choose a more original name then just Computer Company Manager.

In bed thinking about the game, and I came up with some more ideas, I must write it down now, since in the morning I will have forgotten it tongue.gif

You start in a small appartment, helping the locals build their computers. You will offcourse get paid for that. Instead of the player just choose some components and then build the computer, the player must order the components and wait a few turns for them to arrive. The player can also get deals with the producers to get the components cheaper. Later in the game the player can choose to get help from some buddies to build the computers faster. The game will start of with some RPG elements, you just controlling the player, later; you and some buddies, even later; a company, buy a post office merge
with other companies, buy their shares (if they have). In the phase with the RPG elements you can develop the player with various skills, like electrics, digital, sculpting (cabinet) and maybe some more, educate your player in engineering, bachelor, master and even a doctorate.
In the appartment you can buy a phone, telefax (old I know, don't care, telefax owns tongue.gif),
offcourse you have a computer, but you will have to build it first (or buy a prebuilt one), you can have an internet connection, like ISDN, ADSL etc. You must also pay rent for your appartment. Later you can choose to take a full job with another company or start your own. Offcourse you can buy yourself a house and maybe even a mansion. Develop own hardware and hire engineers to help you with that. Create factiories around the globe, it will bee cheaper in Asia than Europe, if your HQ is in Europe the delivering will be faster from a factory in Europe than in Asia, but more expensive, make deals with delivering companies and airlines. Instead of just having the players choose either the Real Life database or the Fictional database, the player choose a game mode. And maybe, just maybe I will add some play modes so the player can choose just too jump in as a CEO in a company, little RPG style as an employee in a company, or just start from scratch in the small appartment.

I am also thinking of having a graphical interface, not the standard .NET one, bit I will think of that later. Or are there any graphical designers in the team who is up for the task?

That's it for now, maybe I will come up with more as the night goes on, noone knows for sure.

The Hardware Creator / Editor is nearly finished, I have uploaded a pre-release version on the ftp server. I think I will finish it by the end of the week, I have still work to do on the motherboard form, integrated GPU, CPU, sound card, LAN etc. I have also been making some simple price calculation equations and year calculation, come with changes about that.

CODE

GPU Price calc:
(Memory*MemoryFreq)/1000*CoreFreq/100

GPU Year calc:
(Memory*MemoryFreq)/1000*CoreFreq/10000

CPU Price calc:
(Speed*Cores)/3

CPU Year calc:
(Speed*Cores)/1000

RAM Price calc:
(Memory*Speed)/1000

RAM Year calc:
(Memory*Speed)/20000

I still need to create PSU form, sound card form, form for Network Card, maybe a form for physic card like PhysX. Come with more suggestion and changes to the Editor. The editor exports file to either .txt or .sql, when you upload it to your database, the program just reads the SQL-command written in file, and execute it, the
program will also check the command so it don't contain anything about deleting tables, other components etc. I have not done the database uploading part yet, but I will do that in the weekend.

Just a note: There will be no programming for me tomorrow, I promised my parent, to get out of my room and into fresh air. Playing softair it will be then ninja.gif . And about that graphics, I am thinking of having buttons with somekind of circuit board pattern. Can you do that for me Squibby.Muggle? (Not larger than 150x50)

Sorry for double posting but what is the color theme for the game.

I'll be using this stock as a base for my graphic works and I dunno what color scheme to use.

The background is green as in a citcuit board, and the foreground (text etc), is gray, tin like.
