I've never considered the UK a particularly violent place - yeah if you act like a dick or wander around the wrong places, especially on a Friday or Saturday night when people are looking for trouble (read: drunk), but generally not. I wouldn't go acting like a dickhead in Newham on a Friday night, just like an American wouldnt go down to, I dunno, inner city Baltimore (yeah I watched the wire ) and do the same. That's where the violence is, it's not like you get punched generally in the streey for no reason.

I think it bodes well for everywhere if the UK is the worst and it's not particularly bad in general.
