Title: NEW FORUM LOCATION INFORMATION
Description: Meat's back on the menu boys!

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

The website and forum move has gone ahead relatively smoothly although as mentioned before in the Server Move thread the domain name is in limbo while it transfers to the new hosting account.

If you type www.malazanempire.com you will get a browser error, likewise if you use a bookmark or a link from another site. This will be sorted out once the domain is live again.

The forum is available for your use once more, although I would point out that the skins are not complete - the images require a live URL to point to and therefore some images are missing - once again this will be sorted out once the domain is live again.

If you are happy to return to the forums under these conditions you may do so and I will post below the address which you will need to use for the next week until the domain is fully functional again. However there are some issues with this and I would like everyone to please read carefully and understand :-

What this means to you and to Malazanempire.com

Please read Theo's email below where I asked him can we use the forum anyway even though the domain has not transferred :

Technically speaking, yes they can start posting again within the current limitations.

However, they MUST NOT link from outside the board TO the board. Example:

Google & Co. visited your board every day. Now that it’s offline they think: “Huh? Where’s Malazan Empire gone?” When a member suddenly links to the forum from let’s say another forum or blog using the current IP address Google & Co. will immediately know “Ah, there it is!” and delete all pages they indexed and index everything anew with the IP address in the URL.

Practically, that means: If you then search for ‘Malazan Empire’ in Google the green URL ‘www.malazanempire.com’ in the result will be replaced by the plain IP ‘216.227.216.84’, which doesn’t look so good and destroys your ranking in search engines.

So your people must be disciplined a keep things hidden until the domain is active again, then it’s not a problem at all.

Cheers,
Theoderich II

So please please please - be vigilant about typing in the address when you want to access the forum until the domain has moved, and not link to it as our ranking in the search engines is very important to the site.

EDIT : You can now use forum.malazanempire.com to access the forum again.

If anyone cannot remember their password for the forum you can email me or post in this thread and I will reset it for you - aizella@gmail.com. The webmaster email is not functional yet.

See you on the other side :)

not sure if it matters, but over on the main site - both google and yahoo are viewing the forum.

I tried to take a screen shot, but I dont know how to post it here.

Looks like I've got a small problem, somehow I've gotta login every time that I come on the main site.

I log on, post a reply (I succeeded in posting one reply on the Mayen drawing by Isolde and that was the third try, while it said that I was logged on while typing the reply, it said I was not logged in when I tried to post the reply) or just browse the forum, close chrome afterwards and do other stuff or shut the pc down. later on I'm coming back and when entering the forum I've gotta log on again (while the remember me is checked).Tried it with Internet Explorer 9 too, same problem. I've removed the cookies once to make sure that an old one from the previous server wasn't messing up. But still I've gotta login every time.

Last time I tried to reply on the forum move post on the main site about this problem, it gave the same error that I wasn't logged on........

I do hope that I'm making sense.

Ok, I've copied the error that I'm getting on the main site when trying to post.

[#20310] Your secure key, used to verify you are posting the topic, did not match the one submitted. Please go back, reload the form, and try again.

Sometimes after the site says that the login is a success, the forum comes back, the background is black (when I'm logged on it's white for me) and I'm not logged on.

Yeah, I've seen them too, but if they got the site on favorites or as start page like me, it's redirected directly to the new server and showing the numbers.

I'm aware of the log-in issues as I have been experiencing them myself.
Until the domain resolves properly (which could take anything between 48hours to a week) there's not a lot we can do about it.

I'll make a post in the forum problems thread on the board.

Thanks for the heads up and all your work and also thanks to the other people working on the move.

Edit: Seems that IE9 doesn't have any login problems after removing the cookies
and that my problem only is occurring with Chrome now.
