casting call
the basics
full name; Anastasia Melantha Greengrass
"My name is a beautiful one just glancing at it. My first name, Anastasia, comes from the Muggle the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia. I find it very appropriate - purebloods are like the nobles of wizards. It's actually definition is 'she who shall rise up again,' which in actuality doesn't make that much sense with me. I have in fact been told that I was named after the Grand Duchess Anastasia, so I can push that aside. Melantha, in Greek, means 'dark flower' which I don't find very appropriate. I'm not dark, in personality or hair or skin - I'm very fair-skinned and have a light-colore hair. However, I am a flower. Oh, and Greengrass has been going on for centuries."
nicknames; "I doubt you really want to call me something other than Anastasia, Anastasia Greengrass, or Miss Greengrass, but should I give you the permission to (which is an honor), call me Ana [pronounced Anna]."
age; Seventeen.
birthdate; "Mother gave birth to her first child, me, on New Year's Day: January first."
house and year; "A proud seventh year Slytherin, thank you."
alliance; "I am neutral, but leaning more towards the Dark Lord than anybody else. This is because as a pureblood, I see myself as a noble - not just because of blood status, but place in society as well - and I love the lavish style of it. If Lord Voldemort will secure that postition, then I am fine. But I'm only slightly worried that if Dumbledore does win, that all of it will be taken away from me in the blink of an eye."
blood status; "What are you, thick? Pureblood, of course."
sexuality; "I have an arranged marriage to Evan Rosier. What does that tell you?"
animal familiars; none - too messy!
canon or original; vague canon
anything else?; n/a
the costume department
the physical appearance
playby; Anne Marie van Dijk
hair; Anastasia's honey blonde, almost strawberry blonde hair is eyecatching. It silkily waves from the top of her head, layered down to a couple of inches below her shoulders. Lathered in the most exquiste shampoo and conditioners, she keeps her hair in tip-top shape. In comparison, other people's hair looks like the fur of dead animals.
eyes; Her eyes...her eyes are cheery blue-green, that somehow she transforms into something cold, hard, and narrow when she is angry. Her eyes are never very wide - they are relatively small. But they aren't unwelcoming all the time; in fact, when she is in an extremely pleasant mood, they seem to glow.
height/weight; 5'7"/120 lb.
build; The figure of Ana is relatively slender, which is something she received genetically from her mother. She isn't extremely curvacious, but she is enough to the point to wherever she goes, male eyes follow. Not tall, not short, but just in the middle, she finds her figure pleasing, and drop-dead gorgeous in Muggle skimpy summer clothing.
anything else?; When a family has had of hundreds of generations, you have overflowing piles of gold in Gringott's. For Ana, this means fabulous quality clothing from the Gucci and Prada of the Wizarding World. Her taste is very refined; it is a mixture of old-fashioned styles and modern twists. She doesn't need to spend hours to pull an outfit together as she has a natural sense for what goes and what doesn't. Jewelry is a luxury but she finds no need to stockpile it on with her natural beauty.

strengths; Persuasive: Anastasia can get whatever she wants using whatever methods necessary. Words, curves, bribery, blackmail, whatever it takes. Most of her time her persuasion is using manipulation, another one of her strengths.
Convincing: She can pull the innocent act in the blink of an eye. She can also convince young men that she wants them, but then drop them. She's a good actress, but only when there's something in it for her.
Polite (usually): She was raised to have good manners, and never to appear slouchy or rude. However, this can only last so long if she doesn't like you.
Sympathic (with those she likes): If she has made a true bond with someone, she'll be kind to them when they are in problematic situations, but this is very rare.
Intelligent: She's was a bright little girl, and that hasn't changed with age. She picks up topics quickly and effortlessly and with some good memory on the side, she always appears smart.
Loyal: If you become one of her allies, she'll stick with you quite closely as long as her mindset doesn't change. These allies are scarce and few, though - so don't expect much.
Manipulative: She'll find a way to get to you - your weakness - and use it to get something from you, no matter what the cost is for other people.
Charismatic: With many people, she can sway them her way. Quick-witted and a wonderful conversationalist, she doesn't have a problem being with people that are more on her side than anyone's.
Patient: Ana's learned over time that she needs to sit still and endure even the most painful things. The majority of the time she can grit her teeth behind closed lips if things get too awful, but sometimes she snaps.
weaknesses; Vanity: Being pretty and pampered all of her life, she was taught that she was blessed to have such beautiful looks. So of course, over time, it went to her head.
Pride: Family pride, house pride...and of course, personal pride. She takes pride in who she is to the point of arrogance. She knows she's good, and she thinks other people should, too.
Shallowness: She looks people at blood status, wealth, appearances, and not much else. From a young age she learned that those things were the most important things in life.
Cold: Her words can be as sharp as a razor and shivering cold as a bitter wind when she really doesn't like you. Sly and off the charts, these kinds of words leave scars.
Arrogance: Too much pride pushed into one's brain leads to arrogance like no other. This all happened from the unfortunate to be born into a family that thinks they are above "traitors" and lesser blood.
Inconsiderate: She doesn't care about your feelings if you're not close to her. She'll let her icy words fly from her mouth without thinking about them first. They're rude to some extent, yes, but in the manner they are said they differ in feeling to average rudeness.
Rudeness (in sarcasm, when people get the best of her): Anastasia has her own brand of rudeness. Her sentences are frigid, well-stringed together, with well-aimed attacks. She can get to you without batting an eyelash.
fears;- trusting someone and having them break her trust
- losing her place in society
- being called a coward
- disappointing her parents
- having her marriage flop or not go through
- Dumbledore winning the war
- being forgotten
- Evan dying (not that she lets anyone know)
dreams;- Evan being rewarded for helping Lord Voldemort
- have a lasting (and perhaps enjoyable) marriage with good children
- her siblings following through with their marriages
- being considered a "good wife"
- getting Outstandings on her N.E.W.T.s
patronus; Anastasia's patronus is one of the most show-offy birds in the animal kingdom: the peacock. It has its jawdroppingly beautiful feathers, in a beautiful array of colors. In Anastasia's case, she wears beautiful clothes, jewelry, has beautiful things, and she's willing to tell anybody who will listen about them. However, that bird can have one mean bite or peck - just like our dear Ana. She's mean when she doesn't need to be, incredibly selfish, and when she's mad, her words get vicious and painful.
boggart; Her worst fear as of today would have to be Evan being romantically - or at least physically - involved with another woman. Her entire life has been devoted to becoming the perfect wife, so her family would be considered even more respected than before. The self that wished to make mudpies and dress in ratty clothes was forced to be put away to make room for the perfect wife her mother wanted to be. If she failed to follow through her mother's expectations, it would be a loss of a wasted childhood.
dementor; When she was younger - about twelve, and it was summer - one of her father's coworkers came to talk with him. Her mother shooed her away to go paint her nails, or do something to occupy time as she didn't want her daughter interfering with their conversations. They went to Nathaniel's study, but didn't close the door all the way by accident. Out of curiousity, she tip-toed to outside of the door and listened. They discussed things at work, but then their conversation moved to darker topics. Lord Voldemort, and Nathaniel was afraid to do what he had been ordered to, afraid of dying, but if he didn't, he would put his family's lives at stake. Anatasia ran off to her room, frightened. With darker times came darker circumstances, and she didn't want to lose her father, but she didn't want to die, either. That made her realize how seriously powerful the Dark Lord was.
amortentia; her favorite perfume, pureblood boy, fine wine, citrus
personality description; Everyone in this expansive world has something that just makes them go. Pushes them to do everything they do, whether kind or ridiculous. Anastasia, of course, has one...and although she hasn't discovered it yet, it is acceptance. She just wants to be accepted by people, anyone at all, but growing up she tried to be accepted by the wrong people; her family and their purist ways, as well as all their prejudiced friends. Had she grown up in a more care-free enviroment, she would probably be a more like a Hufflepuff than the Slytherin she is.
So over time, she hid all of herself deep down so nobody could take it from her. But it got lost - she forgot where she placed the sweetheart she used to be. Over time, it took more and more to be accepted. So she just kept digging her ditch, digging herself in the wrong direction. She saw how the older girls in her house acted, and imitated them. After all, they were popular. If they were popular, they were accepted - and she believed if she did the same thing, she would be accepted too. But the habits she copied weren't good ones. The things she did to be surrounded by people weren't necessarily kind or compassionate.
So now she goes day by day, her words layered thick with sarcasm and irony. Many of her words are exaggerated and as bitter cold as a blizzard. Yet somehow she has friends - perhaps friends isn't the correct word. Followers, acquaintances, people who push up her social standing, whatever you would like to call them, she probably has them.
One of the first qualities she buried as a child was the ability to laugh at herself. Once, she tripped while carrying a tray of pudding for herself, and landed on her back, pudding smearing all over her face and hair and her pretty dress. She laughed. She saw it as a funny accident, someone getting coated in pudding. Her mother pulled her aside and said it was inappropriate to do so. It made someone look like they had been raised with no sense of manners and had played in a mudpit their entire lives (which Anastasia probably would've done, had her nanny let her). That went away quickly.
Unlike the Ana today, you could've put her in a potato-sack when she was little and she would've been fine. But when she wore a dress that had been tattered from play and stained from the pudding incident, her mother told her she was not allowed to walk out of her room and talk with civilized people until she put on something appropriate on. Her brain channeled what she was told, even if it wasn't true or right. It was an automatic setting to keep being accepted; she feared being alone, rejected, and forgotten.
This shell she's built around herself is really just this facade over a little girl who just wants her mama and dada to be proud of her; to have people supporting her and surrounding her. She thrives with people. But this shell is so fragile, any second it could shatter. Somebody just needs to get close to her, find the weak spot, tap it, and all of it would drop within a matter of minutes. Seconds, possibly. Then she'll realize everything she is...is fake. She won't be anybody. Just a little girl who wants acceptance. She'll need to learn how to be a person again - who she used to be - which she hasn't done in a very, very long time.

the background
nationality; English.
hometown; London, England, the Greengrass estate.
parents; Harietta Greengrass (nee Duse) , thirty-six, housewife, mother; Nathaniel Greengrass, thirty-six, Department of Magical Transportation, father
siblings; ____ Greengrass, sixteen, sixth year Slytherin, younger brother; ____ Greengrass, fifteen, fifth year Slytherin, younger sister
other family; engaged to Evan Rosier, seventeen, a fellow Slytherin, through arranged marriage; various other pure-blood families
background history;Harietta Duse (a Ravenclaw) and Nataniel Greengrass (a Slytherin) were married under the circumstances of an arranged marriage. At their day and age, it was starting to become common that some wealthy pureblood families have arranged marriages between their sons and daughters so that purebloods wouldn't die out; as it was also becoming regular that the purebloods who treated everyone as equals and loved anyone and everyone fall in love with half-bloods or muggleborns.
Their marriage was arranged with they were about ten, the year before they went to Hogwarts. They weren't told of it until they were sixteen, which was unusual. Not they had fallen in love, as they had been warned that as offspring of an uptight pureblood family that they may have an arranged marriage. They started courting and explain the situation to past lovers, so that no confusion would occur.
Two years after their extravegant wedding, Anastasia Melantha Grengrass was born as their first child. In infancy, Nathaniel arranged for her to married to the Rosier family's son. A year later, their second child (a son), ___ was born. Not long after, the youngest of the siblings (their second daughter), ___ came into the world. Their mother took caution and allowed Anastasia to be raised like a little princess, but her mother tried to lean her away from the blood prejudice she knew many purebloods had, and that everyone should be judged by how they are on the inside, not the outside. Ana didn't quite understand the idea until she was a bit older, and by this time it was too late - she had been spoiled rotten and was very shallow.
Being raised in rich household, she did not go to a muggle school for her early education, and was not taught by her parents. Her father had important Ministry work to take care of and was not around quite a lot of her childhood as he was always "tired" or "busy." Her mother occasionally helped her learn her basics, but it was left mostly to their nanny, and then as they (her and her siblings) reached primary school age, a tutor came and taught them the highest education available. By this point Nathaniel was very sastified with his wife; she had produced a son for him, a family heir, but beautiful daughters to marry off for alliances.
It's about time we begun to see more of Anastasia's side of the story. A snobby little girl, she scurried off to Diagon Alley with her parents to purchase the highest quality supplies, and didn't even beg for a broom - it being the dirty, sweaty sport it is. She had plenty of pureblood friends to board the train with, so on September first of her eleventh year of age, she left without a single tear. Sorted into Slytherin, she knew her parents would be happy, or the closest thing uptight purebloods can get to.
The years flashed by, excellent grades, staying out of trouble (or if she did get into trouble, she did a very good job avoiding getting caught) and mercilessly teased shabbily dressed wizards and witches, and gathered the best of the crop as her "friends." Boys set their eyes on her, but even if they were attractive she had to turn them down due to her pride and what was expected of her. Sixth year rolled around, and she was glad her father had chosen the boy he had. Evan Rosier had turned into a fine young man, so come half-way through the school year, she was perfectly happy to start courting him. He was polite, though not the most romantic, and relatively kind about the whole arranged marriage situation.
By summertime, a large sparkling engagement ring sat on her left ring finger. She was proud of herself and where their relationship was going. She even thinks now that their arranged marriage might turn out to be a little more, and it won't be that awful being his wife.
