{1977}
The hustle and bustle of getting onto trains brings students to a place with new friends, new enemies, new lovers...and education, of course. But there's a twinkle in Dumbledore's eye nowadays, which could mean one of two things: he knows something about you you didn't think he knew, or he's got a trick up his sleeve. Hold on, because this year's going to have a crazy start.
You may now post on the Hogwarts Express and all of the grounds!

ROUSSEAU, chance invidia the playwright a little about you alias; Sara age; Nineteen gender; Female roleplay experience; Eight years availability; Much as I can spare, babes. other characters; Check the sidebar. I have mugshots. casting call the basics full name; nicknames; She prefers to be called Chance, though she’ll also take Vidia or Rousseau, if you must. age; birthdate; house and year; Hufflepuff, much to the bafflement of most of her own house. To this day, Chance refuses to discuss why she didn’t insist on Slytherin with anyone, preferring to throw a death-glare and start sharpening a blade in response. alliance; Undecided. Chance would rather play the odds than pledge herself to anyone. blood status; Half-blood, roughly, though she refuses to discuss this with most of her peers. People tend to assume she’s pureblood by her attitude, but in reality, she’s half-Veela and has tried to hide it all her life. sexuality; “I really must think of my future, but women are also such pretty things to play with. I’ll go wherever the dice land me.” animal familiars; A black snake named Kismet, imported from her garden. He enjoys riding around curled about her arm, under her sleeve, but he also resides in a habitat beneath her bed. canon or original; anything else?; “Spoons. No one suspects homicide with spoons.” the costume department the physical appearance playby; hair; Though naturally, Chance’s hair is silver-blonde in color, she has rebelliously dyed it jet-black since she was nine years old, and she figured out that the house-elves knew how to change colors. It falls in a sleek bob to just past chin-length, with elegant bangs cut across her features to frame them. eyes; A deep hazel that can seem more like warm brown in some lights, or deep black when she’s pissed off, they shift according to where she is and how she’s feeling. They’re also typically rendered cat-eyed by a good hand with the eyeliner. height/weight; Five foot seven, and lightweight. build; As both a former dancer and the daughter of a Veela, Chance has understandably elegant bone structure, with slender legs, narrow waist, slim hips, and a figure that’s nothing to complain about. She’s light on her feet, has excellent balance, and walks like a dancer with her feet turned slightly out. Part of her own personal aesthetic is also heels, which lengthen her frame even further. anything else?; Chance has a penchant for instruments of, well, chance, and can almost always be found with a set of dice and often a set of tarot cards besides on her person. She often wears jewelry depicting cards and images of death, and favors dark-colored silks in the way she dresses. You could call her sense of style very gothic, though always with an elegance. She also has a habit of concealing knives in jewelry and the lining of her clothing, just to keep people on their toes. the role the personality likes; • Games involving luck • Poker, it’s just such fun • Dice games • Fate in general • Frightening people with false impressions • Concealed weapons • Dark jewelry • Crashing funerals • Morbid jokes, and scaring people with them • Egyptian mythology • Creative hexes • Trying out said creative hexes on other people • Being in the library • Muggle weaponry, but mainly old rifles and guns • Peeves, a little chaos is always good • A bit of creative anarchy every now and then dislikes; • Personal questions • Nosy strangers • Being stereotyped • Being told she belongs in Slytherin • Mental boxes • Divination – she likes tarot, but hates certainty • People who over-plan • Knowing precisely where she’s going • Being told to lose her temper • Prejudice against mental illness • Prejudice in general • Clumsy people • Being written off or underestimated • Detentions, though she seems to keep winding up there strengths; • Spontaneous • Laidback • Slow to anger • Generally level-headed • Experimental • Intelligent • Curious • Ambitious • Caring • Not obtrusive or nosy • An excellent listener weaknesses; • Vindictive • Closed-off • Overly quiet • Antisocial • Too ambitious • Pushes boundaries • Reckless • Judgemental • Lacks focus • Terrible at planning • Not one to dispel bad impressions fears; • The sound of breaking glass or china • Funeral homes • Helplessness • That there really is no God • Losing her mind dreams; • Becoming a great Seer one day • Seeing this damn war through • Living up to her mother’s legacy • Learning to be an animagus patronus; Chance’s patronus takes the form of a corn snake[/u], a real depiction of her true nature. While on the surface, she can seem remarkably cold-blooded and serpentine, the fact of the matter is, she’s really neither violent nor dangerous (despite a vindictive nature, which is what renders the serpent allusion useful). A corn snake has coloring that is almost identical to a rattlesnake, and can often be mistaken for a dangerous predator, when in fact it has no venom of its own. Chance has always gone out of her way to disguise herself as a predator, but really, her bark is far worse than her bite. [b]boggart; One wouldn’t think that the sound of shattering porcelain would be particularly frightening, but for Chance, it is a reminder of one of her worst moments. Confronted with a boggart, she sees a familiar ballerina figure breaking across the floor, while a shadow creeps towards her, which if allowed to continue forming takes the shape of her father, on his knees, sobbing apologies like a madman and then flying at her with a piece of broken china in his hands. dementor; Chance’s worst memory remains the day her father finally left her life for good. He had already been banned from seeing her or her mother, but one night he broke into the house in search of his daughter. To this day, Chance still remembers vividly waking in the middle of the night to find him standing over her, swaying from side to side and crooning a lullaby, clutching her porcelain doll to his chest. As she watched in horror, he suddenly started shrieking, then threw the doll into opposite wall and dropped to his knees. Her mother ran in and called for help, dragging her from the room. The last time she saw her father, he was kneeling on her bedroom floor, picking up the pieces of a broken doll, murmuring over and over under his breath that he’d never meant to break it. amortentia; Lilies, pine oil, blood, night air, fabric softener, leather. personality description; • VINDICTIVE – She may be good-natured, but Chance always has something up her sleeve. She takes things in stride because she’s already planning her revenge behind that cool expression, turning into the embodiment of the saying “Don’t get mad, get even.” She’d help you pack your suitcase and help you to your car on the day you left her with a smile, knowing that she’d cut your brake lines and you were going to die. She’s usually kind, but wrong her, and prepare for the knife to find its way into your own back.
• CALM – There’s not much that rattles Chance, partly because she has such a “come what may” attitude about life. She believes that Fate will have its way no matter what she does, and while she’s no passive observer in her own life, what impact could your stupidity possibly have in the grand scheme of things? She rarely gets upset, opting to either plot revenge in silence or just scare you off with a grin and a flourish of her morbid sense of humor. Think Wednesday Addams, a few years older and equipped with better weaponry.
• BLUNT – Chance has never been one to sugarcoat. Things are the way they are, and if she doesn’t want you to know something, she just won’t say it. Otherwise, why hold what she’s thinking back? She often takes people off-guard with the nonchalant way she speaks her mind, no matter what the consequences might be. After all, someone had to say it, and she doesn’t really care if you object to the truth.
• RESERVED – There’s always a portion of Chance that remains closed-off from others, the emotions that she’d rather not share with the world. For the most part, this would be the grief for her family, the pain of losing them, her anger at the world, and her general hot temper, which she always keeps locked away in ice to keep it from boiling over. Personal questions will get you nowhere unless she trusts you implicitly, and that takes years’ worth of hard work. With Chance, you’re either content with vague details about her past and her heart, or you are content with nothing at all.
• PLAYFUL – Underneath the layer of cold, and the generally morbid attitude (not to mention the wicked sense of revenge), Chance has a very strong sense of humor. She totes half the things she does, mentions all the death obsessions and scares people off because she thinks it’s hilarious watching them judge her and run off with their tails between their legs. She’s probably a sweetheart underneath it all, and she’s certainly got a streak of fire, she just keeps the lid on tight and the smile on her face. It’s just much more entertaining watching people flail and thrash trying to figure her out than to hand them all the answers.
WARNING: Confusion may occur when in contact with the Rousseau sense of humor. Side effects may include paranoia, fear, writing home to mother, and the impression that Chance is a budding serial killer or a lunatic. Observers are advised to remain on their toes at all times, as this mixture may occasionally contain truth, but should be approached with caution as most of it is completely untrue. Morbidity and black humor wanted, optimists need not apply. Deadpan delivery renders sarcasm-detection useless at all times. on-stage the background nationality; French, though raised in England hometown; London, England (later Paris, France) parents; • Marguerite Lavoie Rousseau, deceased at 40, former dance instructor • Seneca Rousseau, 43, institutionalized siblings; other family; • Seraphine Lavoie, aunt, 42 • Blake Lavoie, uncle, 43 • Tamsin Lavoie, cousin, 20 background history; Work in progress, babes.
• Chance is born. This is the logical first step. • She becomes the willful child of a Veela and an unstable wizard. • Her mother teaches dance, and enrolls her in ballet. Fish and water analogies follow. • Her father has his first breakdown when she’s six, and is institutionalized. • He is discharged just in time to make it to her first major dance recital. • When she’s eight, he has another breakdown. Institutionalization follows. • A year later, things with his mental state just get worse. • He attacks her mother with a kitchen knife, and is arrested. A restraining order is filed. • Her father violates said restraining order, breaks into the home, is sent to Azkaban. • Chance goes off to Hogwarts, is sorted into Hufflepuff. Black-sheep labeling is had. • In her third year, her mother is diagnosed with cancer. She’s given six months to live. • Marguerite exits the world in the most dignified manner possible. • Chance is sent to live with her aunt Seraphine in Paris, and befriends her cousin Tamsin. • Tamsin falls off a roof during shenanigans, and Chance is blamed. She becomes a family pariah. • Her seventh year at Hogwarts rolls around. The rest…is history. curtain call just a bit more... magic words; Admin Edit. member title; in (horseshoes) and (hand grenades) anything else? Nope. roleplay sample; credit goes to doriz, your lovely admin! no stealing unless you want to be chased by a stampede of angry cats...and trust me, it's not pretty.
