Lucky You

[Skylar Grabel]

Skylar grinned and shook his head lightly. "I'm pretty sure I can defend myself," he replied. "And you don't look like a rapist. You look pretty fucking cute and in need of a good friend." Skylar was hoping the boy would agree. Then he'd not only have a friend and someone to keep him company, but someone that he could help out. That was something Skylar never really had, and he was hoping that maybe it'd make a difference in someone else's life.

"How bout..." Gabe started, watching Skylar, and he couldn't help but notice how... hopeful he looked. He didn't know what to say, really- it was getting harder and harder to trust people, and he warned himself not to let his guard down. Yet here he was, sort of flirting with a cute boy he had just met. Crazy day, crazy life. "How bout we get to know each other a little more first? Then perhaps it's a possibility, okay?"

He was still smiling even when Gabe's words reached his ears. A new idea formulated in his head, and he couldn't help but open his mouth and speak. "I agree to that," Sky said. "If you agree to let me take you out on a date." There was no way in hell he was going to pass up an opportunity to ask out this British hottie.

"I'm not really sure that's..." He trailed off, thinking things over in his head. He'd spent years pushing people away in fear of getting hurt, in fear of being used- he wasn't sure if he was ready to give this a go. He let his eyes glance over Skylar a few times before smiling lightly and pushing his bangs aside again. "Sure. Sounds great."

Sky smiled and forced himself to keep from doing something stupid- like kiss Gabe. He nodded lightly and tried to think of when he had off work. "I think I have tomorrow afternoon off. Would you be up to a movie then lunch or dinner?" Maybe he was getting ahead of himself, but he didn't care. He was actually kind of surprised Gabe agree to letting Sky take him out in the first place.

Gabe mentally ran through his work schedules, before getting annoyed and taking out his phone. Once he found what he was looking for he put his phone away and look at Sky again. "Yeah, tomorrow can work. I don't really know what films are in the cinema currently, so I'll leave that up to you. And dinner sounds good to me."

Sky smiled again and nodded. Now he just needed to think of a movie that he wanted to watch and thought he could actually pay attention to. Though, Sky wouldn't mind if he spent his attention doing other things with the boy. "When should I pick you up?" Skylar asked.

"Depends on the movie, now doesn't it? Um... would 5 work?" Gabe leaned back against his chair and watched Skylar. "Or 6 or... I dunno, up to you. Just call me or text me to let me know or something."

Skylar nodded, not being able to take the smile off his face. He really wasn't sure when he smiled for the last time, but wasn't too worried about it. He'd figure it out sooner or later. "5 sounds wonderful," he replied. "What kind of movies are you into?"

He didn't want to pick a movie that Gabe wouldn't have at least some chance of liking. That wouldn't be any fun. For whatever reason, Skylar felt the need to impress this boy. It was kind of freaking him out, but he was pretty much over it.
