My self and Jim Gilkey came up with the idea on our way home from the terminator salvation theme day. it's based off the amazing book by Max Brooks,( http://www.randomhouse.com/crown/worldwarz/index2.php ). this would involve a good deal of collecting items from around the field.

so here is the basic outline: the game begins in the big woods with (depending on the number of players) the zombies starting in the temple base and the humans starting at the star gate. there would be a simple objective, kill the opposing team it would last for thirty minutes (again depends on the number of people and could be changed very easily.). the zombie team would be smaller than the human team. but the zombies can only be killed with a head shot, or getting both legs shot (separately). the zombies are intended to creep across the field as the game goes on. now i am sure that the humans could win just as easily, but hay, who knows?

the humans would be forced to retreat back to the city field. in this game the zombie's number's have grown (by five, maybe six, it all depends) and by this time the zombies have grown slow and the players who are zombie may no longer run, they may walk fast, but not run. they now can only be killed by head shot. while the zombies take over the city the humans have to collect ammo, gas and food crates/bins. after the humans get pushed back to a small fort in which they must survive.

The zombies grow in number again ( five or six, depends). the humans are trapped in the fort with one main entrance which if the zombies get through the humans loose the game automatically. if this happens soon then the humans get three more chances to try to hold the base. there is also a entrance in the back through the back where zombies can get in, but the entrance will only allow one zombie at a time.

image of human base coming soon...

after this the humans push out and do everything in reverse, the zombies have to collect dolls in representation of humans. while the humans try to collect the dolls to save them. the city game will be small woods and city. the zombies will also loose four or five players that they gained.

the next game would be small woods to big woods. the humans gain four or five more players. the zombies have to try to hold the ground but now they can run.
the final battle ends where the whole thing happened. a big woods game where the human gain four players. the zombies can run and can only be killed with a head shot.

it all wraps up with a give away of maybe a copy of the book, some zombie themed moves, games and books. also the regular giveaways.

it would be interesting to see what happens. although i would suggest running a few tests on normal days. it would be a good idea to see player reaction before it would be made official. (i hope smile.gif )

try to keep in mind any scoring issues so both sides have an equal shot at winning and also think through the game and make sure that you avoid bottlenecks that prevent free player movement. Those are the 2 main issues I've come across in planning themedays.

Humans & Zombies make a good game but we've done a few lately, maybe we could change up, and think Military Games.

WWII, Vietnam, and such, there are some already written, Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, Red Dawn, and such games out there to modify for LOF. Let's storm the city, charge the hill, take the base, succeed over overwhelming odds where others have failed.

Red Dawn sounds awesome. to answer some questions the scoring would be a bit of a problem, let me think of about it. as for the bottle neck I think more of an large open gate like structure with several randomly placed barricades.
