Heres my theory for the end.

Harry and Voldie both go out in a draw, they are both dead, thus fufilling the prophecy.

Its a shame that harry dies, but this is to ensure no more HP by different authors!

But there will always be the fanfic writers that change the ending. It's a given, I used to write Star Wars fanfic where Qui-gon lived because I was so mad that George Lucas killed off my favorite character(s) in order of preference.

But that's a different story.

I certainly think Snape is innocent, he's my favorite character! There's no way J.K. can make him completely evil without some really really twisted plotline.
