What are your favorite classical pieces or movie scores to write to? My absolute favorite would have to be the "Braveheart" soundtrack by James Horner. Most of my stories are angsty drama/romance, and that music just sets the right mood, not to mention it's beautiful. I also like the "Pearl Harbor" soundtrack, especially for romance, some of the tracks from "The Butterfly Effect" soundtrack, and some tracks from the "King Kong" soundtrack (the new one - love the music in it!!). My two favorite non-movie classical pieces would have to be Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" and Pachelbel's "Canon in D."

Music with lyrics sometimes distracts me when I'm writing (depends - sometimes it's fine, and other times I pay attention to the music more than my train of thought for writing LOL), so I like to listen to instrumental stuff when I'm writing. If anyone else does that too, I'd love to hear some of your recommendations! smile.gif

OMG!!! I have The Butterfly Effect soundtrack, too! XD In fact, it's the only soundtrack I have... 'cause it's my favorite movie. *lol* That's cool that someone else has it. ^^ The score is great; I just wish it was a lot longer. sad.gif

As far as recommendations go, I could probably give you a couple. Most people wouldn't have these, though, I think, so if you want them, I can always upload them for you.

"Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday (Piano Version)" - Harry Gregson-Williams (Metal Gear Solid 2 video game soundtrack) - very sad and pretty jazz-ish piano song

"You Are Good (Piano and Cello)" and "You Are Good (Orchestra Version)" - Jeff Deyo (Saturate) - just overall soothing... a little repetitive, but it's beautiful

And then some instrumental songs from the Final Fantasy X & X-2 video game soundtrack (piano and orchestra stuff), as well as some selections from the Silent Hill 2 video game soundtrack (mostly guitar, a little piano). The FF stuff is probably better suited for more of a romantic feeling while SH is great for angst.

So let me know if you want anything. wink.gif

Sexcapades!

Something Beautiful

Excerpt of the moment:

Her eyelids lowered, reflecting on how the two of them had tumbled into the dirt in a convulsion of giggles and squeals. How for that very moment, her world had capsized as he collapsed onto her. How soft his cheek had felt up against hers as his body heat enveloped her. How the two had lay grounded, indefinitely, their hearts speaking to each other in patterns neither could fully fathom.

And finally, it clicked.

Oh, my God, how could I have been so blind?

Ahh, I LOVE "The Butterfly Effect"! It's one of my favorite movies too. I bought the soundtrack mostly for the "Kayleigh's Funeral" theme, which is just so sad and pretty... I agree; I wish it was longer too - most of the tracks are pretty short. But I love the music, so I guess it worth it. smile.gif

Ooh cool, I haven't heard the songs you recommended... would love to download them if you don't mind uploading them. I'm always looking for new "writing music" smile.gif I'm not a big video gamer anymore, so I don't know the Final Fantasy music, but anything good for romance and/or angst is good for me! LOL Thanks for the recs!!

Personally, I'm inspired by instrumental music, so mostly it's classical. I like "Canon in D", "Moonlight Sonata" and just about any song by Craig Armstrong tongue.gif He's soooo great! There's even a theme named after me (jk), Laura's theme hehehe... biggrin.gif
Otherwise, I like the Titanic Soundtrack, Bryan Adams, BSB, El canto del loco (don't worry if you've never heard of them, they're Spanish)...

p.s. I love the movie "the Butterfly effect", but when I just listen to the soundtrack I don't like it that much. It kind of freaks me out! dry.gif

I love "Moonlight Sonata" and "Canon in D" too!!! Those are probably my two all-time favorite classical pieces. LOVE the Titanic soundtrack, although sometimes it's hard to write to because it reminds me SO much of the movie. It's my favorite movie; I have the thing memorized LOL, so sometimes it's hard to get away from.

Hehe, in my wedding day, the one thing I'll insist on is on having Canon in D played as I march down the aisle... biggrin.gif
Have any of you guys heard of Craig Armstrong?
