So basically this is a topic for you guys to throw out any suggetions or ideas of what you would consider interesting for a November event. Even if it sounds a little outrages I'm sure we can come up with something do-able regardless of how unreasonable it may seem at first. Things like balls and dances have probably been done more than a few times I'm sure, but maybe you'd be interested in an almost-winter carnival? Or a charity concert put on by the Hobgoblins? Or a world famous Quidditch team making an appearance at Hogwarts for a week-long after class training program? Whatever you've got going in you heads, fire away!

Our current ideas are as follows:

FIELD TRIP TO EGYPT WITH PICNIC

LIVING IN GROUP DORMS/HOUSE THE 'MUGGLE WAY'

A SUPER SPIFFY CARNIVAL

I dunno this could work for just about any month. Official quidditch games, "field trips" and picnics. I'll probably come up with more later but I'm technically in debate class. 3:03 now so 11 minutes to go. We get out at 3:14 cause we're a nerd school. Anyone who gets what I'm talking (when I say 3:14) about gets to be a nerd too.

I used to get out of school at 3:19. Most of used to think it couldn't get any lamer. xD

Ooh, but I'd love to do a Quidditch game. The only reason I haven't planned one is really due to the fact that every team is missing, like, four members or something. No one's near full, which is rather odd. We could do a field trip to somewhere interesting, maybe like everyone gets to spend the entire day at Diagon Alley? Or we could be even cooler and make up some haunted castle ruins in Ireland and just Floo everyone in for the afternoon - with a picnic included. Ha! Two birds with one stone. Ooh yeah.

Right the first one I'm going to throw out there - I've never done it personally, but it seems to be suggested a lot, so it must have widespread appeal one way or another.

It is the late '70s so, with the help of punk, the free love movement is beginning to fade and the YAYCOKE decade is creeping ever nearer - evidence of such can clearly be seen at the school xD Anyway - some sites tend to do a 'Baby, think it over' type program. You know, that rubbish assignment where you're stuck with this machine that whines and cries and is the archenemy of sleep?

Well it could be something like that - pair up the students, but come up with something Wizarding like a plant or majical creature or something charmed that might behave like a human baby, until you take care of it the right way long enough, and then it changes forms, or.. I dunno.

And then there could be a tolerance thing required for the upperclassmen, but allowed for students electing to participate or being forced to as punishment. Being that the Death Eaters and such are growing in numbers, Dumbledore could have it set to where a certain amount of students have to live together and do everything like muggles. I just think it would be interesting because a good mix of character will lead to certain conflict, and for once muggle borns will have the edge. Like, I don't know, have six people or so living together and multipul sets of that if a lot of people wish to join? hm.

EDIT: I lovelovelove the icon you used for the event by the way :3 JTHM is just.. beyond words for me^^

I think the baby one is cliched but hilarious. I can see Dumbledore picking some weird creature that bites and no one wants to touch it for fear of loosing a hand.

I think the picnic/field trip to a haunted castle would also be really cool. Though if we want it to be 'haunted' we'll have to think of something besides ghosts to scare them since ghosts aren't that scary to witches and wizards.

oh and the geek this is 3.14 is math pie, we get out at 3:14 and we actually celebrate pie day.

Choosing six or so students to live together would be absolutely entertaining at least, specifically if they had to live 'the muggle way.' Dun dun dun... I like that idea a lot. It almost reminds me of this cartoon on TV called Life's a Zoo where a bunch of human-like animals are forced to share the same house in a spoofy-kind of reality TV series. It's 18+ funny. xP So we could do that but if we wanted to have them spending a week or longer than a weekend together I think we should do it around Christmas Break and it could be some sort of school project ... or something ... We'll have to work on polishing it up but since I've never done something like this I want to try it out. ^^

The baby/animal/creature parenting test [that's what it sounds like, right?] is something that would totally freak out the students. xD If enough people are all for it we could make this the event, or if we opt for another event I think we could keep this in mind for February, you know, with the whole Valentine's lovey-dovey atmosphere.

So I was thinking about this field trip picnic idea last night and it suddenly hit me that a field trip in November is going to be like freakin' cold, man. Especially if we're going to Ireland. So then I was like, why don't we go someplace warm!? First I considered Australia, but there's nothing really there except the outback and the potential to get lost. Then I considered California, but that's so ... blah. So THEN I was like - why not Egypt? It's hot, it's got cool pyramids and it has a history of magic and myth and things like that. And I'm sure mummies would beat ghosts any day. All I have so far is the idea of creating an entirely separate category with a few different boards like Egyption Tomb, Local Market, Picnic Area, etc. And students are free to spend the day where ever they'd like doing whatever they want.

PS; I haven't ever watched JTHM, but the creator's style is so amazing. I'm a huge fan of his Invader Zim cartoons. I bought the boxed set. =P

Life's a Zoo sounds like Drawn Together.. without the animals. xD

But the holiday in Egypt sounds pretty groovy - their should be loads of trouble for teenage wizards to get into there.

And JTHM was just a comic book - they've had rumors about doing a movie for it since the dawn of time, but I doubt it. Then they did spin-offs like Squee and I feel Sick. Usually comics aren't my thing, but the Slave Labor Graphics thing is down with my scene, I suppose.

Jhonen Vasquez is pretty much made of awesome. I adored Invader Zim, but I don't think it's coming back, ever. Like - never. He hates Nick, but I think if he got onto Adult Swim or something...

anyway, hi! My name is Alice, and I'm good at getting off topic =D

I think doing something that involves pairing up random students or groups of students would be fun. It'd definately create some tension and drama, and would be really fun to roleplay.

The only problem I foresee with the characters living together thing is, won't some characters be left out? It should definitely be something that every member and every character can be involved, regardless of whether they're new or old.

I do, however, like the idea of a field trip of sorts. Though that could also cause some complications. Do you think parents would let the younger children i.e. first and second years, go on field trips without them being present? In the muggle world, that's usually how it works. I know we only have older students now, but we need to keep in consideration that some people may make younger students and we shouldn't give them any reason not to.

For November, there isn't really much, is there? I like the carnival idea or some kind of fun fair. That would be good for including every character, even younger characters, should we get them. Or, we could simply do a bunch of small, fun events. For instance, we could issue I.C. challenges throughout the month, like a post where your character is strangely out of character or where the character has to do something particular in a post. I don't really have any grand ideas, but the ideas could be member submitted. Just my ideas.

My parents let me go on field trips in first grade with just teachers >.<. Maybe you could make it so that everyone needs 'waivers' and have a back story of those without the waivers could plot on how to get there. *Shrugs* Just throwing an idea out there.

It does seem that November is an annoying month for special events. ..... Well at least with December there will be an overabundance of ideas.

Mmhm. I didn't mean it to be exclusive - there could be more than one group of students forced to live together.

I know you didn't mean it, Alice. Just adding to the brainstorming. =)

But, yes, I think multiple groups could work. Maybe we could have something like Cupid. You know, an account that everyone can PM to sign their characters up for it. Then, depending on how many people sign up, nemo and I can sort them into groups based on which ones will make the most drama together. I can see it working if there's more than one group. Maybe groups of three to five?
