General Knowledge:

• Register with a First and Last name please! No suzzzzzy_q8886 accounts, and we’d be just as happy leaving the middle names out. Thanks a lot. =]
• Be respectful of other members, mods, admin and even guests. Everyone contributes to the board and everyone role plays on the board – so if you treat us like garbage we’ll chuck you in the trash bin.
• This is honestly weird to have to include this as a part of the rules but it's been overlooked in the past and I'm not sure how... This site is a Pre-Potter site. That means no Harry Potter. That means no Albus Severus Potter or Potter children with equally odd names. The only Potter you will see here is James Potter. And we're all children of the 1970's furthermore.
• Once again this shouldn't have to be included in the rules, but let's try and learn from our mistakes. If you registered with an incorrect name that does not follow the first bulletin do not re-register. Simply contact an admin and we'll make the change for you.
• Keep in-character enemies in-character. If you don’t like a particular member be mature. Don’t talk to them.
• There’s no limit on characters. We just ask that you use your own common sense and take on what you can handle. You must, however, have a least one male for every two females you create.
• Got a question? Post it in the Questions forum for maximum efficiency in getting an answer.
• If you’re going away we want to know. We might even tell you to have a good time while on an 8-hour road trip with the ‘rents. We want to be sure you’re coming back, otherwise we might end up deleting your account.
• Advertising is restricted to the Adverts forum at the very bottom of the board. Do not post links in your signatures, please, or in the c-box.
• Remain active! This is incredibly important seeing as there's no role playing without active members. Bookmark the page so you know how to find us again – but why would you want to leave anyway? We’re eff-ing awesome people…

Board Ratings:

• The general board rating at any given time: PG-13, which will cover mild swearing, violence, and romance.
• Older members can go as far as: R, which means much heavier language, violence, and romance.
• On the matter of sex: we're fine with a little romance but nothing overly graphic. Members can rate their topics with an M [for Mature] if they wish and what they do from there is their own important business. Bottom line - keep it classy.

Role Playing Rules:

• Check it, yo: we cater mainly to the intermediate and advanced crowd, which means we need more than a couple sentences per post. We’re not looking for a novel though; you've been there, done that, and no one likes to spend more time reading rather than replying. A couple of paragraphs will do and we like quality over quantity, too. We'll leave this rule open for your own comfort level.
• Proper spelling and grammar is necessary. It doesn’t really need to be said but it’s here for the record. Feel free to use the edit button as well.
• Type in the past tense, third person. Seriously. Except for journals and stuff.
• Mary- and Gary-Sues are the lowest of the low as far as creativity is concerned. Keep them away because we won’t hesitate to douse them in gasoline and burn them at the stake for all to see.
• Keep your hands on your own characters, dahlings, because you shouldn’t be controlling anyone else’s anyway. It’s a horrible habit to get into.
• Special powers and abilities sound really nice don’t they? But face it – not everyone’s born with telekinetic abilities, animal features, elemental powers, impossibly-good sports skills, or that oh-so desirable third eye or extra arm.
• If you feel like you want to kill off a character then you need to drop the admins a note, otherwise we’ll resurrect your character without question and send you to the graveyard instead.
• We accept more than just students – school staff, school graduates, visiting students, ghosts, Death Eaters... anything you can think of. If you can find a reason for them to be here we'll give you the A-OK.

C-Box Rules:

• Hands down, no questions asked, our C-Box is the supreme master of the universe. You will pay homage to it at least once a day by offering it either a selection of cheese or pie. Do not give it spam.
• Don’t advertise sites in the C-Box. There’s a section made separately for that. You can post links to role play threads or fan art though so long as it’s connected to our lovely board; go wild.

That’s it. Not hard to remember [as most is just common sense repeated over and over again] but everything's ultimately here for your personal reference and as ‘I told you so’ guidelines should any situation come up in which we need to reference them.

Because we all love the feeling we get from saying ‘I told you so.’
Especially when we’re right.

A note from nemo & Ginny:

This isn't really a rule, but it's an important piece of information nonetheless that should be on display for everyone to see. It supports the necessity of following the rules and regulations of the site. Just take a moment to read through it to better understand the type of environment we would like to create. We're not singling anyone out; we've simply decided it's best to put this in place to avoid having to explain it at a later date. Don't let it worry you - you've all been really great thus far. =]

• Respect is essential when creating relationships between members and it is a vital aspect of the site. Disrespect of any kind, be it racial, sexual, or simply a case of being down right rude, will not be tolerated in the slightest. Manners should be present at all times since accommodations will not be made for those seem to have let them go out the window. To act rude and disrespectful is highly discourteous and unfair to the admin, the board and especially to the wonderful members who contribute to it. Any member found in violation of the second bulletin listed under General Knowledge [see above post] will be approached by the admin in accordance to the Warning System as outlined:

First offense: Warning.
Second offense: Suspension.
Third offense: Banned.

Depending on the severity of the case the admin will determine the individual penalty as fair and necessary. This site is supported by a group of friendly individuals who in no way or shape deserve to be disrespected. It's also highly important that we present ourselves respectably to all guests and potential members, and the admin acknowledge and appreciate our registered members as being the base of our growing and welcoming community.
