dear diary.

so, today was normal enough. there's the halloween ball (an ingenious idea set forth by none other than our own dumbledore. i think he just likes seeing kids suffer from all the pointless drama that spawns from these dances. why else would he arrange a dance? i think he might be trying to take after those silly muggle...high schools, i think they're called. those schools have about a thousand dances a year. i even heard ol' dumbly was planning a homecoming! what an odd, odd man. oh, well, it's not like i'll be going to anymore dances. at least, not unless bastan forces me to more, since, you know, a black must always present herself in a nice manner and must make as many public appearances as possible. whatever, i'd rather study, and you know how much i loathe studying. well, i'd best be off to get ready for that horrid dance. ugh, why does bastan drag me to all these things?
