Though he normally ate in the library, back in his office, Ezra decided to change up his routine today, as he was known to do. So, with a paper-bagged lunch in hand, Ezra sat silently on one of the couches in the lounge, his food still in the bag beside him on the left on the couch, completely untouched.
Instead, Ezra's computer lay in his lap, and all of his attention focused solely on that. He was looking at (what else?) books online, and salivating over all the possibilities with the budget for the year. More copies of Shakespeare's works, some poetry anthologies... Ezra stared longingly at the Charlotte Brontė selection, from Jane Eyre to The Professor.
His short fingers flew across the keyboard with ease and a little bit of chaos, typing the last names of authors, the titles of books, and keywords in the genres to look up his favorites, or the list of suggested books that lay to his right. He crossed out the books that were definitely impossible; too expensive, really, or Ezra thought that the books were complete shit. Either way, he wouldn't be ordering the ones blacked out with his ever-present Sharpie. Next on the list, Ezra marked books that were must-needed with red, ones that he thought were of high (ut lesser) importance in blue, green for whatever was left over, and ink for the ones that didn't really matter. All of his notes were color-boded and organized, which paralleled some of his colleagues quite nicely.
Licking his lips, Ezra reached over to his bagged lunch and pulled out the bag of vegetables he'd packed: baby carrots and sugar-snapped peas, his two favorite. He grabbed one from the bag blindly, not bothering to look away from the webpage in front of him. He scrolled down the page as he chewed thoughtfully, calculating the number of books he could rake in, plus how many books he could restore the stock of. Cheerfully, Ezra stuffed another baby carrot in his mouth and chewed in silent bliss.
