1978. Easily one of the darkest years in the wizarding world’s history.
‘79 wasn’t much better but oh boy, was 78 ever a dark year.
In 1978, England was overrun by the horror’s of a wizarding war,
none other like itself seen before.
Not even when Gridenlwald reigned were things so horrid.
1978. Just thinking of that year sends chills down my spine.

Things were tough back then,
one didn’t know who to trust,
whether they’d wake up in the morning
or if what they were fighting for was right.
Paranoia, some might call it
but paranoia probably saved a lot of lives.

The witches and wizards were divided against each other,
forget the Muggles.
They were hopeless from the first day the Death Eaters began their deeds.
It was just witch against wizard,
brother against sister,
Death Eaters against the Order.

War back then wasn’t glorious.
There were no heroes,
no Harry Potters to round our spirits with.
Back then all seemed lost.
You Know Who just about ran the whole Ministry,
the Order was getting picked off one by one
and all the other folks just hoped that no Death Eater would visit them.

Coffins were being filled every day.
Babies cried in their cradles while their parents lay dead on the floor.
The screams of innocent rang out into the night.
Duels were fought and duels were lost.
Lovers married and the next day they would be buried.

In spite of this tragedy though,
there was the flicker of hope and light.
A newborn babe was a sight for sore eyes.
Love still existed and prevailed.
But still, no expected anyone to get out alive.
No end seemed in sight.
