i said welcome to detroit city
detroit, michigan. one of the most dangerous cities in the country but home of some of the greatest musicians the nation has ever known, too. most prominently, detroit punk. and, at the center of that scene, is demon corpse records, the label that seems to be signing all of the hottest musicians, these days.

Wes had arrived at her aunt’s house after an hour or so- he’d had to drop her off there after work a couple of times when her car had let her down in the past, so he remembered the way. Wes had a photographic memory and remembered things like that easily. He was in the S13, a decent enough car, but better now that Wes and Jason had installed Precision Power Steering lines and a ZT28 turbo with HKS wastegate, not to mention the skirts, bumpers and fenders that had been replaced. It was two tone and fiercely hot stuff, and Wes’ pride and joy to boot. He’d sunk several k into this car and was showing off it off for Alice tonight. It took a lot of handling- wasn't really streetable in most traffic, but it was made for this job. It made a noisy entrance outside the house, and the music pounding inside could be heard from inside the house- he shut off the engine as he waited for her to come out.
He let the window down and slipped a smoke between his lips, lighting it as he sent her a text, just in case she hadn't heard his arrival. He was pumped up and ready for his race tonight, Wes liked having an audience and she was no different- even if she was just a friend. He also had a lot of tension he was eager to blast out of his system. He had changed into a clean pair of jeans and black beater, his leather jacket over the top in the cold air. He made an impressive picture and he knew it- and he couldn’t wait to roll down the street to line up for his race. It seemed whenever people stayed away from the meets too long tongues started wagging and he imagined there was all kinds of word on the street about his shit- his dad, his sister, maybe even Jamie- who knew? But he was out tonight to put an end to it all- reclaim his crown and pocket a few G’s.
He unfolded his form out of the car easily and leant his elbows as he waited, a smirk touching his lips as she appeared and headed over to him from the house, his dark eyes drifting over her appreciatively before he spoke. “ready for the ride of your life princess? Then maybe I’ll take you for a ride in the car too...” He teased, a smirk touching his lips as he dropped her a wink. “Get in... they’ll be waiting for us...” His race wasn’t for an hour, but people were expecting him and he wanted to get there early to catch up with some of the guys. When they were in the car he turned her on and surged forward at an almighty speed. It wasn't long before they turned into a quiet street, which was currently lined with cars of all colours and types, but all of them worth a good few K, female bodies, barely covered, lounged over them, guys leaned against them and the music booming from them flooded the street. He was right at home.

Alice had gone home to check in on her aunt before she'd run off to shower. The woman was fast asleep and the nurse had assured her that everything was well. Taking that as a good sign, showered and debated on what would be good for a race. She'd never been to one and didn't really know anyone that had her same style and attended one... This was going to be harder than she thought. She wouldn't normally care but this wasn't about her and she would be seen with Wes. He didn't need to be seen with a dork. Accepting that she was going to freeze her ass off, she picked a slightly reserved yet still stylish outfit with a pair of black Mary Jane pumps and a black jacket covered in zippers. She figured it would work and, if she was ever invited to more races, she'd be able to take notes and find something better and more fitting to wear. She figured she looked pretty decent so that had to count for something. It wasn't her usual party attire but this wasn't her usual party, either. Throwing on some make up and a few rings and bracelets, she opted for the skull navel ring and the matching earrings for her jewelry. As far as Alice was concerned, she looked decent and anyone else would just have to get over it. They didn't kick you out for bad clothing and she could careless what they though. As long as she wouldn't embarrass Wes.
She had heard him before he'd let her know that he was there and Alice bounded down the stairs with a skill that no one else would have thought she'd had in heels. She transferred a few things that she might need for the night to a small, black purse and she was out the door. With a grin, she gave a mock twirl of display and rolled her eyes only to grab his arm and try to pull him to the car. "Yeah, yeah. Get in or the nurse will think the wrong thing and I won't hear the end of it for a week." They weren't waiting for them, they were waiting for him. Leaning back into the seat, Alice watched the city as it whirred by her, blurring together in a blend of lights and textures. It was easy to forget about a lot of things and just... be. Once they were at the races, though, it was an entirely different story and she was starting to wonder if she was wearing too much clothing. "Wow, guess the scenes in movies aren't too far off, huh?" If she strayed too far, she was sure to get lost. Wasn't like she wouldn't be able to find a ride home, though...

Wes smirked as she emerged from the door, letting out a loud wolf whistle as she twirled and took in the sight of her appreciatively. He’d never go their with Alice- but only because she was a friend and an employee and she knew just what he was like with girls. He smirked with amusement as she attempted to drag him to the car, her tiny frame to ineffectual against his own. He cocked a brow and glanced over his shoulder back at the house at her comment about the nurse, watching the curtain twitching that was going on up on the first floor. He smirked in amusement and tugged Alice back to him, tucking her under his arm and making a show of it for the nosy nurse. “Might as well give her something to talk about then.” He made a lot of revving and squealing as he zoomed off away from her aunts house too, just to embarrass her all the more and to get the nurses panties in a twist.
When they arrived his frame visibly grew in height and stature, he was big stuff here, and his very being emanated that. He turned the engine off, his car in prime position for his race, but he wanted to have a beer or two first, and find Alice a friend to hang with too- he wasn’t gonna just dump her there now was he? Even Wes had more consideration than that. Jason should be about somewhere he figured, or Jamie- might be the time for the girls to get talking. He smirked at her comment about the movies, glancing down at her as he rested a hand on her lower back to guide her over to the place he knew they would find some beers. A few people greeted him along the way but he didn’t stop, acknowledging most of them with a tip of the chin or something similar. He guided her over to a car and grabbed a couple beers out the trunk, stopping for a minute to chat with its owner as he handed one to Alice and popped the cap on his own. The guy was asking him about when the next load of NOS was due as he wanted a bit more under his hood and was thinking of replacing the whole system. “Jase ordered it last week so it’s probably in already… talk to him about it man.” Right now he had better things to do. He smirked at Alice as they walked away from the guy, checking out the cars to see if there was anything new about. “Impressed? Look…” he had been talking about the racing, but he’d spotted someone he figured she might be interested in saying hi to. He nodded over to where Jason was leant against the hood of his skyline, with a chick leant back against his form, talking to a couple other guys they knew.

Alice laughed and rolled her eyes. While she knew he was just teasing and being a friend, it was still nice for a girl to hear that she looked good. Not having a boyfriend often left her just getting compliments from guys wanting nothing more than sex from her and, usually, they were just there to let her know that they thought highly of her and, now, she had to repay them. Wes was a great looking guy with a great personality and body but there was no real attraction to him. He was her boss and her friend and Alice believed that guys and girls could be friends and nothing more. It was always nice to have a few guys in your corner that were just friends because, really, they were the ones that mattered most. Throwing in anything else that would complicate matters didn't appeal to her. Fine, he was Goliath and she was David. Could they go, now? Apparently not. Alice whined and squirmed in his hold but she couldn't get free. "You're not the one who has to listen to her comments every day," she huffed. Sure, fun and games for him but she was going to get her revenge, just wait and see! He could be so cruel, sometimes. This was part of why it wasn't always the best idea to have guys for friends - they'd mess with you like this.
Alice grinned as she notice him puff up. Figured... Let his ego get too big and there wouldn't be any room for her in the car. She could only imagine what he'd be like when he won. Yes, when. She had every confidence in his ability that he would win and, if he didn't, she'd still be right there to stand by him. She juggled weaving through the crowd with looking around to take in everything that she could see from her stunted level. Why did people have to be so freaking tall?! While Wes chatted up with others, she'd peek over and check out what they had under the hoods. Oh, to be a pit crew for any of these people... She'd die, she was almost sure of it. "Very," she grinned as she turned her head to look over in the direction that he'd indicated. Well, why didn't that surprise her? Some chick whoring it up in front of Jason. How original... With a shake of her head, she looked back up to Wes and perked a brow. "Am I the only one in the shop not racing?" She needed to keep her focus on something else before she went over and started needless trouble, just for the hell of it.

He didn’t spend too much time chatting to his people- he was never a guy to say too much with lots of people, he spoke mainly to close friends and just threw randomers a greeting. He smirked at her as she checked out what people were running, he figured it’d blow her away, given what she drove around in. He figured it’d interest her too. He glanced over to her as she looked at Jason, trying to read her expression. He knew they were good friends but they flirted with each other so much he sometimes wondered if either of them realised they were so obviously into each other- not that he figured it would go anywhere, but it was pretty obvious to everyone at the garage they were attracted to each other. He was pretty sure Jason hadn’t figured it out though, and couldn’t tell with her.
He smirked as she asked if she was the only one who didn’t race and shrugged his shoulders “Pretty much… but James doesn’t race. Comes out for beers sometimes but can’t afford to race, his wife would kill him anyway, with the new baby just arrived.” he shrugged- he could hardly blame her- it was an easy way to loose a lot of money if you weren’t careful. He nodded his head over to Jason and Luke and a few of the others from the garage. “We should say hey… c’mon.” he let his arm rest around his shoulder in a big-brotherly type way and lead her over with a smirk, his eyes lingering on Jason as he watched his friends gaze drift over Alice, and what a sight she was. He watched him almost obviously push the hooch away from him distractedly as he watched Alice come closer, and cocked a brow at his friend “Hey man… I picked up a tag-along…” He smirked at Alice and handed her another beer, she deserved to have some fun.

With Alice, she probably would have found a small group of people to talk to and, then, moved on to find whoever could offer her the best partying. Therefore, she knew how it worked but it still surprised her that he hadn't had any other friends like that to talk to for a longer period of time. It was as if he only hung out with the guys from the garage. Maybe there were others but who knew? Maybe they just weren't around or she looked away when he spoke to those guys. Could you blame her? This place was like a candy shop and she was definitely the kid. She'd have to look around and work on getting her game better because she definitely wanted to start playing with bigger and better toys. It wasn't that she didn't know that she had a childish crush on Jason. It wasn't that at all. What it was was that she knew that there wouldn't ever be anything between them so she didn't entertain the thought of it going any further. He had his group of people, obviously, and she had hers. Besides, wouldn't that be more than a little awkward? With his sister and his buddy always being around the garage, she could only imagine who would say what. Still, she wouldn't lie and say that she didn't want to roll her eyes in the most dramatic way when she saw the tramp pushed up against him like that.
"James is whipped, though! Fine. Screw fixing up my car. You're going car shopping with me this weekend and we're pimping my ride. Maybe Sasha can show me around the bunny circuit," she grinned up at him. She could afford it, that wasn't the problem at all. She wouldn't plan on taking on the big timers anytime soon, though. Let the boys have their fun and let her work on getting a name in the smaller races. It was hard for a girl to get respect, even in this life. She was going to have to do her best and it helped to have a little ground - even if it was in something like the small time races. Naturally, with his arm over her shoulder, her hand went to wrap around his waist and she offered the boys a bright grin, even flashing one laced with sarcasm to Jason's little friend. When she rolled with someone, they weren't afraid to make it known that they were with her. Apparently, this skank couldn't say the same. Alice laughed and poked him in the side. "I'm sorry, you did what? Funny... If I remember correctly, the convo was more like "Oh, Alice! I'm such a loser who never gets out anymore. please will you go to the races with me tonight so I'm not so lonely." Hmp! See if I ever hold your hand while we're out in public, again." Grinning, she tipped the bottle back and took a quick sip. "You're lucky I feel sorry for you or I'd be off, flirting with guys worthy of my attention."
