Just like pencil sharpeners, I try to regularly check/dump any 3-hole Paper Punches I come across when cleaning. I find it saves me from having them get scattered on the floor or dumped in a clean trash liner by a teacher/student. Kinda a preventative cleaning thing.
I agree and a dust mop sometimes wont get those pesky little dots of paper up. My pet peeve is the personal little pencil sharpeners, even though they have a container the shavings and led get everywhere and the cleaner they make us use for mopping just doesn't seem get up pencil led very easily.
The little pencil sharpeners & mechanical pencils find their way in the trash when I encounter them. Don't you love it when kids use their desks as personal trash cans?
I have a teacher that has a large 3-hole punch that is missing the collection peice on the bottom. She continued to use the thing & would leave the paper dots both on the counter & all over the floor. I go to various Goodwills, St. Vincent dePaul's a couple times a month & keep my eyes open for nicer used 3-hole punches as well as other items. (I got a brand new yellow Rubbermaid mop bucket for $7 one time. ) Anyway, I found a nice punch & gave it to her for a Christmas gift (thinking she would get the hint). She isn't the type of teacher a person can communicate with, yet she was thrilled & now uses both. :ouchers:
