Title: New cotton mop heads
Description: Soak before use

New mop heads should be soaked in clean water for approx 2 hrs. before use or plug up a deep sink and throw it in their. It removes processing chemicals and fibers swell so mop head is at its peak performance the first time of use.

I has told to put some bleach in the water. This is to help break down the fibers. Just make sure you rinse the mop well before using it on a wax floor. I do it a day before to make sure the bleach is all gone.

I agree it is a good idea, to soak them first.
If you are going to use bleach however, it will break down the fibers in the mop head. Which will decrease the life of your mop.
So just be careful if you soak it in bleach.

:canada: All of these are wise coments and should be taken seriously...However as i have often done and will continue too do so....I use a new rayon mop head fresh in the wax bucket and right on the floor, by the time you get to the third coat ( If you use that many) You don't catch any flaws at all.As long as people see a shiny floor , Hey, it's good.
It's all in the shine. Check out my pics realy close and see if you can see the flaws. Have fun, come on! :canada:

:mop: I agree with custodian. There is nothing better than a brand new mop. I never wash them with bleach because it breaks down the fibers and basically sheds all over your floor. Rayon blend when waxing is what I use. But, to each there own.

I do agree that you do not use bleach on a mop head if you are going to use it for wax. I will use it on the ones that I use to mop the floor, it helps to pick-up the dirt and does not leave alot of water on the floor. I only have to change my mop head twice a year. I clean them out at the end of the job and hang it up. :mop:

I do not use bleach and do not recommend using bleach.
Also, I am now starting to use a microfibre system for waxing (in another post) and for waxing it saves from the mophead, no matter what you do to it, from soaking up so much wax. Witch is just a waist anyways.

I soaked mop heads over night and when I came in the next day there was a horrible odor. What was that about? :coffee:
