TCB: The Collector's Board > Announcements > TCBolicies

It might be a good idea to have a quick run-down of how you - the TCBeer - can help things run more smoothly here at TCB. We won't ban you for any of this shit, but you know, this is just here to help you. </authoritarian dictator voice>

TCB Club rules:

The first rule is that you do not talk about TCB.
The second rule is that you do not talk about TCB.
The third rule is that you do not talk about TCBeing.
The fourth rule is that you do not let anyone learn the esoteric art of TCBiology.
The fifth rule is that you will follow the first rule.
The sixth rule is that you will follow the second rule.
The seventh rule is that you will follow the third rule.
The eighth rule is that you will follow the fourth rule.
The ninth rule is that you will follow both the first rule and the fifth rule.
The tenth rule is that you will follow all of the rules above.

The real rules:
  • Decent spelling and grammar is helpful, as you're communicating through your written word, and if its ful of erors & stuf its hard to reed. Most of you are probably running a version of Windows that has Microsoft Word on it. -- There are probably also a few spell checker websites out there if you want to try one of those.
  • It'd be really helpful to all of us if you'd do a quick run through a spell checker when you post.
moo
  • Because this is a gaming forum, it is vital that you mark your spoilers. This includes video games, movies, novels (wha?), and everything else.
  • The most effective way to mark a spoiler is to use this code:
    CODE
    [COLOR=0c0e95]{your spoiler here}[/COLOR]

Alternatively, you can replace that code (which Collector found mimicks the two background colors of TCB) with the word "blue" or the word "navy". 0c0e95 is recommended, navy will do, and blue could work.
moo
  • Respect your fellow TCBeers. Just like in real life, you earn respect from others by your actions, and how respectful you are toward others.
  • We can be pretty rough sometimes - FAAAAAAKE, the constant jokes against Marcelo X - but it's all in jest. I know I don't like being the butt of jokes, but it happens, we're all good friends here, so it's all good.
moo
  • Swearing is, for the most fucking part, fine. You know, don't go too overboard or just fucking swear because you fucking goddamn bitching shitically feel like it. But if it feels right, go with it.
  • Our audience probably wouldn't mind the swear words, as most of the games we collect are on the old side. Or, they're kind of quirky. Or something. Yeah.

Oh, hey, TCBeers, if you have any questions about rules, think of any good ones (besides the ie gets all of your money rule), don't like one or two (like the ie gets all of your money sad.gif ), or whatever, remember, this is an open forum. I didn't close it, so feel free to make suggestions or comments.

Scumdogg's word is Ape Law. Follow it, and you shall not be harmed.

Posted by: ie Aug 23 2006, 08:13 PM
These rules are merely here because you did not dictate Your rules upon us all! tongue.gif

Additions:

Under "Respect your fellow TCBeers.":
ie's wording didn't really capture what I wanted there. So here's my try at it:
"Don't take things too seriously. Jokes are jokes, and most of the time people aren't trying to insult you at all. Just roll with it."

Porn:
Huh, well sometimes we seem to allow it, but it's better if you don't post it. Definitely not outside the Members Only forum.

Spelling and grammar:
While decent spelling and grammar are preferred, it's not that big of a worry. However, if you use any of the following abreviations, I will murder you and your family:
u = you
ur = your, you're
ne = any (I hate this one especially.)
ne1 = anyone

Here are my feelings on the posting of porn and porn-like images. Boobs should be mostly fine. Typically, you're not really gonna offend anyone with a nice looking topless girl. At least not in any world i want to live in. Anything more hardcore should just be sent directly to me in the form of a personal message. Ape Law!!

>>>the constant jokes against Marcelo X

jokes??? Marcelo??? against??? X??? the??? constant??? >>>???

----------------------------------

Seriously though, you should add something about the H@><ORZ sentences. They aren't even slightly funny and just a pain in the ass to read.

Posted by: ie Aug 24 2006, 02:11 AM
Oh yeah, strizzuth and Da have been doing that lately in jest. They don't do it a lot though, so I don't think it's a constant problem.

But yeah.
No |-|/-\<|<|=|- 1337 talk here, unless used in jest. And if you can, offer a direct translation as well.

Posted by: Marcelo X Aug 24 2006, 02:15 AM
A direct translation should definitely follow it, I honestly skip entire posts once I see a single reply like that (regardless of whether or not it's used in jest.)

Also, I'm surprised that I saw no rule about photoshopping pictures of ie. biggrin.gif

Posted by: ie Aug 24 2006, 02:27 AM
Oh, I completely forgot about that. Because, you know, we were being all serious and shit.

No photo-manipulations of the likeness fo ie are allowed for any purpose at all. As we've gone over, you cannot modify my photo in any image manipulation program of any kind. You could do fan art of me biggrin.gif, but I am doubtful that anyone would do this.

I was going to paste your neon orange ninja into a battle with WarMECH a while back for some reason, would that count as fanart?

Posted by: M Aug 24 2006, 12:38 PM
*paints a still-life of Ie*

Posted by: ie Aug 24 2006, 05:55 PM
*welcomes the ie fan art* cool.gif

Maaaaybe. But only if the Neon Orange Ninja wins. biggrin.gif

Another policy!

Posting off-topic things is perfectly acceptable. We do it all the time. It gets kind of strange to follow after a while, but just don't worry about it. If you want to bring something up, bring it up, my TCBeers. Ape law!

What about bout ne rules about piracy? biggrin.gif
<<<most know since an evil copy pirate me am ....YARRR!

Piracy rule: Arrrrrr, but shhhh.

Posted by: ZidZabre Aug 28 2006, 10:48 PM
Okay biggrin.gif

Posted by: Marcelo X Aug 29 2006, 12:37 AM
Any links to anything piracy related is not a good idea. But then again it's up to the mods of this site to determine if that is so. However, I will delete any links/posts in the WarMECH's Domain section that contains any ROMs or Soundtracks or etc...

Posted by: ZidZabre Aug 29 2006, 01:01 AM
Understood.

Posted by: ie Aug 29 2006, 01:06 AM
If you need help with piracy...

If you really need help, you can post a thread. But I'd suggest being slick about it, and if you need soundtrack help... ... smile.gif

New rule:

If you are able to promote TCB in places like television, radio, video game level design and novels, you must do so. tongue.gif

Posted by: ie Oct 15 2006, 02:45 AM
Okay, just something to keep in mind.

We still have some dial-up users here and some with crappy connections. The best picture of all time ever... is an exception to this, but you know, don't post really big images if you don't have to.

We're doing fine - just a reminder - but we'll let you know if anything gets to be excessive.

Additionally, we all (me included) need to take a pill called a chill pill. Just relax and go with it. Most of us can get pretty upset at one another, but remember, we're Family.

I must remind everyone to spell check their posts and read through them a second time to make sure the post makes sense. Otherwise, sad.gif and thdown.gif will happen.

New rule:

If you're a first time poster, and you make some kind of silly post that (a) vaguely resembles a spammer post or (b) contains a URL that appears at all fishy, then we're likely to delete your post or ban you outright.

If this is a legitimate post, then hold it off for a little while, at least until we know you're not a spambot.

Sorry, this is just how we want to run things. It may seem like we don't trust first time posters, but in reality, we don't. smile.gif

Posted by: Omegaflare Feb 4 2007, 07:28 PM
Whatever happened to that guy with the incredably bad grammer? Did he turn out to be a spambot?

Posted by: ie Feb 4 2007, 10:23 PM

Ok so maybe not so much bad grammar as bad English. He made a topic one time and said TCB had been "pleasant to him". Anybody else remember? It was a while back.
