I was thinking about music this morning, so I thought I'd post a question for you all. What are your top five favorite songs of all-time? It doesn't sound like it would be too tough, but picking just five was a challenge for me. I listen to such a wide variety of stuff that I kept feeling like I was leaving out one song or another. My List (With Music Video Links): 1) "Stay" by SugarlandThis is my absolute favorite song! Sad, dramatic songs like this have always appealed to me. I think it's my inner soap opera fan. I find myself looking for the same deep emotion in music that I do in television. In the song, the woman is involved in an affair, but is sick of being the man's second choice. She's begging him to stay with her and forget his wife. This is actually the first song I've heard written from the perspective of the 'other woman'. Usually songs like this only explore the wife's feelings, so I found it interesting that the band chose to look at the other side of adultery. 2) "Anywhere" by EvanescenceI've liked the majority of their songs, but this one I felt was especially good. It's a completely different feel from their usual stuff. The theme is pretty basic, two lovers longing to be together. It's just such a beautiful song, in my opinion. 3) "I Wonder" by Kellie PicklerThis song is so sad! The woman in it was abandoned by her mother and is thinking back on all the times she needed her, only to find that she wasn't there. I'm not sure, but this might be auto-biographical. I don't know much about the singer, but I think I read somewhere that there was truth to this. 4) "On The Road" (Japanese)This is the 30th anniversary ending theme for my favorite show. It's pretty up beat, but still got to me the way emotional songs do. I think that was partially because it marked thirty years for the show. The link is just the TV version, but Toei actually did market a full length version. (On a side note, this song was the inspiration for my screen name here.) 5) "I'll Think of a Reason Later" by LeeAnn WomackAlthough I love almost everything LeeAnn has done, this one stands out in my mind. It's the only time she's ever tried to be funny in a song. In it, she hates her ex-boyfriend's bride-to-be, but doesn't have any logical reason for it. She simply hates her because she feels like it. She never made a music video for this song, but I found a fan-made one. The scenes are from one of my soaps.

Here are my top 5 favorite songs (at the moment) not including I'll Be Waiting of course . 1. On A Day Like Today - Keane- The song is about a person's inability to express his emotion in words no matter how hard he tries. In contrast the sound says exactly what he feels. This song is a perfect example of the abstraction of emotion in music. 2. The Night Sky - Keane- Keane being a strong supporter of pro-peace efforts, materialized their sentiments in this song. It is about the dreams of a child living in a war zone. Very powerful stuff. 3. Rosie's Lullaby - Norah Jones - I'll leave the interpretation to you. 4. Time To Say Goodbye - Andrea Bocelli & Sarah Brightman- Half the song is in Italian. Which means I don't understand half the song, but who cares? 5. Big Love Adagio - Bond- Perfect harmonies. Special Mentions: Lullaby - Bond Viva La Vida - Coldplay Strawberry Swing - Coldplay The Frog Prince - Keane Spiralling - Keane Atlantic - Keane Can you tell I'm a Keane fiend?

LOL. Me too! I was fortunate enough to see them in concert a few years back, I was hooked, from then I went on to collect everything they had seen fit to record. (and Gay-Yee Westerhoff is my goddess!) I think they're going to release a new album later this year, which is going to be awesome! Also I forgot to put a little known band called Ivy up there. I think you are going to like them too! Ivy @ last.fmWorry About You - IvyEdge of the Ocean - IvyBTW, YouTube says your video isn't available in my country.

You won't believe how much energy those girls have! I got tired just watching! Gay-Yee is an indescribably awesome live performer. Watch her move as she plays her Cello, trust me, you will be dumbfounded.

I discovered them because of Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital. "Worry About You" was the opening song.
| QUOTE (Bouken Dreamer @ Oct 8 2008, 08:52 PM) | The video thing may just be a temporary glitch. I've been getting those "Video Unavailable" messages on YouTube a lot lately. They usually fix themselves about five minutes later. |
Still. "Cannot be viewed from your country."

I found a Bond concert on YouTube that I'm planning on watching later tonight. It's at least an hour long, split into seven parts. Not sure if you've seen this or not, but I thought I'd post it in case you hadn't. Concert, Part 1The other parts are available from the same user. | QUOTE | | I discovered them because of Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital. "Worry About You" was the opening song. |
I'll bet that's where I heard their music. I remember seeing some of that show.

That's a shame. Out of curiosity, which country are you in? I had never heard of specific videos being blocked, but I guess if they're big on censorship like New Zealand for example, than it makes sense.

I just got through all 7 of them! This was before their "Classified" tour, so all the songs were from their 1st album "Born".
"Born" songs are great but IMHO "Classified" songs are the songs to be witnessed live!

Well, I live in the Philippines. I've seen geo-specific videos on YouTube before but those were copyrighted materials from big studios, never from a normal user.

Yeah, they are new. #1: I could've sworn I had that in the gallery, but I just checked and it turns out I don't. Maybe I saved it once and forgot to upload it. I can be absent minded like that. #2: I'm hoping to find a higher quality version of the Billi/Chelsea one somewhere. It's such a cute picture, but the only HQ version I know of is on Wireimage. #3: That's one I've actually never seen before. Thanks!
