Most of the time, Freddie was active and energetic. Tonight, however, he was knackered. He was lying down on a sofa in the common room with a women's magazine, finding out if they had any more bizarre sex tips to 'please your man' which were really the last thing any man would be interested in. It was just fun to try them out with Angel when they were bored, because some of them were utterly ridiculous. Anyone caught coming near his genitals with lipstick would come to regret that decision very quickly...

Right now, he was struggling to keep his eyes open, which happened even when he wasn't tired if he sat still for any length of time. He has his reading glasses on but they weren't really of much use when his eyes had decided to stop working, so he took them off and sat them on the table at the end of the sofa along with the magazine. Pulling a cushion round, he put it under his head and laid down to sleep.

He wasn't quite sure how much time had passed, but he was woken up by a noise that he couldn't quite place. Sitting up quickly, he waited for his eyes to focus and looked towards the door. It started to open, which made him think that perhaps he had been woken by the portrait lady talking - she was quite loud after all. He waited to see who was there, trying to sort out the mess his hair was probably in at this stage.

Ron stalked into the common room, dragging his bag behind him and holding a bloodied tissue to his nose. He'd been in detention, again, for being found out of bounds. His ridiculous twin brothers had talked him into meeting up with them in Hogsmeade. Now usually it wouldn't have been a problem, Marauders map and all, but Professor Sprout had been in the town that evening and he'd been spotted.

Still, helping out in the greenhouses hadn't been too bad. It was the inexplicable nosebleed that had him annoyed. The damn thing just wouldn't stop. He'd been sent to Madam Pomfrey and she'd given him some clotting pills, though they took a few minutes to work. He'd escaped the hospital wing -he hated it in there- saying he had homework, which was true. Hopefully the drugs would kick in and his nose would behave enough for him to finish his DADA essay.

Collapsing into a chair by the fire, he emptied the contents of his bag onto the table and picked out his DADA work. Gingerly he lifted the tissue from his nose and threw it into the fire. A single drop of blood splashed onto his work, but other than that it seemed to have stopped. 'Thank, Merlin for that.' He breathed, before finally noticing the other boy. 'Oh, hello Freddie.'

Freddie finished fussing over his hair just in time to see Ron emerge from the corner. He watched as the other boy crossed the room and sat down, appearing not to have seen him yet. It seemed that there had been some sort of incident that had caused the other boy's nose to bleed. With a raised eyebrow, Freddie prepared to ask about it, though Ron had just noticed him and spoke first.

"Hey, mate," he replied, swinging his legs round to the floor and sitting up a bit straighter to have a conversation. "You alright with that? What happened, did someone hit you?" he enquired, indicating the nosebleed, although it seemed to be stopping of its own accord now. He remembered the last time he'd had a nose bleed - he'd been on holiday with 'the family', if it could be called that, and a game of water polo had been a bit rough. He could still remember the blood going down the back of his throat and almost losing a tooth at the back.

Ron fidgeted as Freddie looked across at him. It was weird how the boy could be so cool and normal, but at the same time not fit in with his housemates so much. Also the animosity between Freddie and Harry left Ron in a very difficult position. While he had nothing against Freddie personally, and he hated making enemies if he could help it, he found it hard to be both his and Harry’s friend at the same time. When it came to his best friend, he would stick by him over anyone else. Loyalty was his problem, always had been. Even during that short space of time in his fourth year when he and Harry weren’t talking he couldn’t help but stick up for him when any Slytherins had said anything.

‘I’m alright, just had a detention.’ He shrugged off Freddie’s other questions. ‘Nah, nothing so interesting. It just started bleeding for no reason in the greenhouse. I think its okay now though.’ Ron opened his textbook and started to scribble down the rest of his answer.

‘You been up to much? I thought you’d be off dancing somewhere.’ He couldn’t think of much else to say, but he didn’t just want to ignore the other boy.
