The Basics of Aftermath: Life After Earth
While the skinner works on a banner and layout for the information tables, this will provide the information you need.

Aftermath is set in an alternate universe where the Covenant civil war and other events in the Halo game trilogy and book saga never happened. That, in short, means that the Elites are still working with the Brutes and the Prophets of Truth, Mercy and Regret are still alive and leading because John-117 wasn't there to kill them. Earth has been lost, and the Spartans and Marines are fighting to get it back. Please see the story so far in the rules section of the site for more backstory and plot information.

There are staff auditions running currently in the rules and announcements section. All questions are required to be answered honestly.

NOTE: All members who do not have characters already profiled, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you.

Laser Tag
This twelve-level laser tag facility is THE way to train. Just like real combat, except the only way you can get hurt is if you fall down the stairs.

The Infirmary
Yeah, this is where you go if you get injured, unless you're on campaign, in which case you go to the field medics for help.

The Lake
A great place for a swim, provided you know what to look out for. Snags pose a danger to anyone who ventures into water more than fifty centimetres deep. The lake is the only body of fresh water near the main colony on Base. Usually only Spartans use it for swimming; everyone else swims in the nearby ocean, which is crystal clear and with perfect white beaches. The lake, on the other hand, is murky, but a great place to look for freshwater shrimp and crayfish. It is used often for underwater training exercises, or simply to relax.

The Commander's Office
Commander Caldwell is in charge of Base. Heaven help us! Just kidding, of course.

Sometimes you might be summoned here for a special solo mission, other times you might be in big trouble. There's no way of telling until you get here from wherever you are when the summons is served.

The Gym
It's soundproofed, it has all the equipment one could possibly wish for, and it has artificial gravity systems that allow soldiers to work in whatever gravity level they want. Digital measures on all the weight training equipment adjust to the gravity level and read what they weigh in the working gravity levels for safety's sake.

G-training is, needless to say, important for all soldiers, as very very few planets have similar gravity to Base, which has 1.2 times Earth's gravity. The gym can go up to ten gees, at which point it has a safety cutoff. Many safety measures and redundancies are implemented, from an adjustment room to measures to stop recruits from getting in when the gravity levels are higher than usual.

The gym at the housing facility on Base is the most technologically advanced in UNSC controlled space and one of the largest, designed to allow a full SPARTAN division to train in there without anyone having to sit out.

There is a section where only Spartans can get into that goes up to thirteen gees before the safety cutoff kicks in.

And if anyone has issues with artificial gravity, think about cutscenes and gameplay in the Halo games. On the Pillar of Autumn everyone is standing firmly on the floor. Doesn't that tell you something? They'd have to have artificial gravity.

The Obstacle Course
This is one of the biggest, most complex, and most terrifying obstacle courses known. A large percentage of it is restricted to Spartans only because of its sheer difficulty. Stun weapons and paintball guns are used for combat training on this course, as well as the occasional exercise with live rounds against targets. The rock wall is a full fifty-eight metres straight up, with rocks a fair distance apart. The rocks are colour coded - to use all colours is to take the easy way out. Red is the easiest of the colours to use exclusively, and black is nearly impossible, as every rock is at least three metres away from every other black rock. This difficulty level is used exclusively by Spartans, simply because no Marine can reach between the rocks. Not even Spartans can - they have to swing and jump. Doing that all the way to the top can be draining, but most Spartans take it in their stride and can complete the full obstacle course without too much difficulty.

Even the simplest of the obstacles here is daunting. There are walls that men and women have to leap over, from two metres to seven metres high and even higher. Everything over three metres is designed for Spartans, but Marines will attempt up to four metres.

Cover is good. Off the beaten track, much of the obstacle course is thick bushland.

A razor wire fence intersects the course. Every soldier who crosses this finds a different way to get through, from scaling it to going underneath and everything in between.

There are safety measures, for example the rock climbing harnesses for the rock wall, among others, but most soldiers neglect to use them, resulting in occasional injuries from mild to very nasty.

The SPARTAN-only section is terrifying to most who view it. Automatically targeting gun turrets are posted throughout, adding to the difficulty and realism by providing live gunfire. These are constantly being damaged and destroyed by safety-conscious Spartans.

At the start of the obstacle course is a control panel with which a soldier can choose his or her difficulty level, from "Recruit" all the way up to "Impossible", which is reserved for SPARTAN use and cranks up the difficulty far higher than is realistic in actual combat, particularly with a careful leader like the Major.

This course is most often run with the soldier's preferred weapon in hand, as often these types of obstacles are encountered in the field and a soldier needs to be able to aim, fire, and get past the obstacle all at once.

Please note that Marines physically cannot get into the Spartan section.

Mess Hall
The place to meet for many soldiers. Good food, good company, and when serving robots are there instead of actual people, great drinks. Marines happen to be particularly good at getting themselves completely plastered, though more discipline can be expected from most Spartans. On the odd occasion where you see a drunk Spartan, he or she is usually fast asleep.

The mess hall is the traditional venue for celebrations of every type, from birthdays to engagement parties and even celebrating the birth of a child (for male Marines). It is currently being decorated for the Christmas party scheduled for the 20th to the 23rd of December. On occasion, pieces of tinsel fall in people's hair.

The falling tinsel thing was designed to bug Kimba Darad lol

The Pool
For those who don't like swimming in murky water or want to swim laps. Also for diving (as there is a diving pool) and it's great for parties in the middle of summer. The water is currently heated to make it warm enough for Marines to be able to bear, as it is autumn. It's a good thing the pool's indoors.

Another job around the base is as a lifeguard, to make sure no one drowns. However, quite often the person in danger is saved even before the lifeguards realise they're in trouble.

The pool is an entirely textbook affair - an Olympic-sized lap pool, a larger (and deeper) one for the Spartans, and a diving pool that's nearly seven metres deep (for safety) with boards and platforms up to fifteen metres high. No expense has been spared in setting this particular building up.

Mars
Pinned down in the first of many massive firefights in the war to reclaim Earth, the Spartans and the Marines are more determined than ever to gain ground. Only time will tell whether or not they will recapture the 'mother planet'.

The Moon - Orbit
Space battles will take place up here. Keep in mind that the Covenant have far superior numbers, as they can pull ships from Earth and they are using the Moon as a staging facility for yet more of them.

Please make a new thread for each ship or group of ships. This is to avoid threads jumping around all over the place and make them overall much easier to read.

*whispers* If you want to be in the boarding party sent to the Covenant flagship, send Shandeh a private message...

The Moon - Surface Warfare
Most of the surface warfare will take place after the main space battle. There will be more space battles for those who have crewmen of UNSC warships, but the main one is to get these troops to the ground. A few soldiers may make it down in life boats from lost ships, possibly in Pelicans and Albatrosses, but not many.

Please make a new thread for each group of UNSC soldiers. This is to avoid the thread jumping about all over the shop, as the SPARTAN teams and Marine fire teams will be separated.

If you wish to be in the initial landing group, which will consist of a few SPARTANS and maybe twenty Marines, please send a private message to Shandeh.

NOTE: Most field medics travel with the soldiers on the ground, as all teams have been separated and many have lost their bearings. However, any really serious injuries will be sent up to UNSC Lady of Peace for treatment. The Lady is capable of slipspace jumps, but only in ideal conditions, and her Captain is loath to jump with seriously injured patients on board.

The Earth Missions
Solo or small group missions on Earth will take place throughout the Moon campaign. This is where they will happen. Most, if not all, will involve much stealth and care, and many will be missions to steal something from the Covenant. On these missions, all vehicles (including dropships used to get to Earth) will be piloted by the lead Spartan of the mission.

Please note that solo and small-group missions are given on a case-by-case basis and that each one is necessary for storyline purposes. They will not be given to characters for no reason. Here, our official Covenant players will be the only ones permitted to control the Covenant.
