Favourite Clan
FaB - they played their own game, their own way. I am very surprised at the outcome for them - I was sure they were going to get top clan but have no shot at GO, but instead, they had a small shot at GO, and only managed third clan... I suppose that was due, in part, to Love_a_lot_bear leaving them and joining MTHN, which rather greatly tilted the clan rankings away from FaB and towards MTHN.

Funniest Player:
Gamma - an amusing, if highly irritating, wasp-like creature who buzzes round your fortress stinging you sharply on the head every time you reach 30 health. Able to communicate without breaking into swearing or snide remarks which is healthy for the game to have!

Favourite Player:
Coth Comb-over (Predicon). Predicon has been in my clan in a number of rounds. Every time, he sits in the shadows, doing a fine job. Almost never have I heard Predicon in need of gold - even when he is online a lot less than others in the clan. Never does he demand assistance, or complain if he's not the first to get a citadel. He is often there to help with defence upgrades for people, and is pretty well able to play a mid-rank attacking role, causing havoc among clans' lower orders: taking regulars off anyone silly enough to give him a chance. And all this while being calm, friendly, supportive and offline a lot more than many of the rest of the clan.

Least Favourite Player
No-one personally I don't like enough to give them this award, so I'm going, tentatively, to give it to Grond!. Here are the reasons - I know a number of people did this sort of thing, and I know there were pefectly good reasons for it, I just feel that if eveyone did this, the round would have been the most boring ever:
- Pinging health down: I saw Grond! pinging his health down every four hours even when he'd not been attacked for two days. For me, that's just a bit too cautious, verging on cowardly. You are not poor, you are not under constant attack, you are an accomplished player, having been in the GO fight last age... why not stand up and engage in a fair fight? [rhetorical question]
- Going on vacation: I can understand going on vacation at busy moments... but holding a top ten position and then going on vacation does seem a bit off to me. I was on vacation one round (actually abroad with no internet connection for a week) when the round ended, and Bhaal permitted me a babysitter to train up as long as I went on vacation for at least four days first. But I instructed the babysitter to log in at least four hours before the round seemed destined to finish, to allow other players to attack me, if that's what they wanted to do. Under no circumstances was he to log in 13 minutes from the end, and train me up with no chance for others to do anything about it. I thought that was a rather unsporting way to finish a round.
Why pick on Grond!? - well, there were a few (mainly MTHN) players who used these same tactics, and I could easily well have picked any one of them - it's the tactics, not them personally, that I dislike. I guess I name Grond! simply because he was the one that used the surrender-to-everything tactic to force himself to surrender to me so I could have no fun attacking him, but was happy to put his health up to kill my regulars every so often in return.
Runner-up: Rick James - just because he's nasty to me when he goes off on one.

Most Honourable Player
This may be a bit mad... but I'm temped to give it to Rick James...! His language is abusive, he verges on libel every other post in the forum, and I can't say I like the guy for that... ...but he does seem to combine that with a fair play in-game. If only he could control his anger better, and put his points across better, he'd might be a good voice for fair play.
Runner-up: Texfull - always plays with respect and honour for other players. And Gamma.

Least Honourable Player
Sarnia Shorty: I can understand a clan leader defending his clan members, but Sarnia makes no attempt, as far as I can tell, to promote fair play in his clan. He is able to defend jeffyna's dodgy xp tactics, the pinging-health-down, the going-on-vacation-at-the-end, the bringing-others-into-the-clan-to-get-rank, and such tactics. MTHN seemed to use just about every dodgy tactic in the book, and rather than saying "I accept it's a poor tactic and is bad for the game, but I can't see another option for my clan", he says things like "There is no honour in WoE, so tough - we'll do whatever we need to."

Favourite Ally
Bit of a joke for my clan, this round:
- Our sister clan, G0TH broke up early on.
- One of our two main allies, HIVE, deleted (though until then, they had been good)
- The other of our main allies, RUF, pretended to support us until towards the end, when they put up their own Grand Overlord candidate against us and cancelled the alliance, having already taken a lot of our resources in the form of Goth Crewcut, that G0TH had boosted.
Our best allies were OuT, who took in some remnants of G0TH and remained faithful to us from then. Not a big clan, but they fought well with us.

Least Favourite Ally
Has to go to RUF. Maybe there was some misunderstanding here - wouldn't suprise me, it was a feature of GOTH this round - but I was on the understanding that RUF was supporting our aim to have a GOTH Grand Overlord. Obviously this wasn't true, so it's no wonder the alliance went tits up.
- It was a RUF player - an ally of ours that benefitted from our alliance early on - who was later to turn against us and take the GO title from us.
- Goth Crewcut was massively helped by the G0TH clan, draining a ton of gold and resources from them, before then shooting off to RUF and later attacking GOTH players! Fat lot of help that was!

Alliances were hard for us this round - we weren't able to support HIVE as much as we'd have liked because the time they needed help from us, we were already at war with MTHN, M+HN, RLs and RTU I think, and adding FaB and TDU to the list at that time would surely have been too much for us to survive with any strength to support HIVE later on. So we had to turn down warring on FaB, though we offered (I think) to try to focus more on MTHN to keep them at bay. I don't think HIVE were very happy with that, but it was either we didn't help with FaB, and sorted out MTHN, or we helped with FaB, got destroyed, and then they'd have no allies left. It's a shame that we weren't able to help them more, and a shame they deleted and weren't there to support us later. But that's perhaps testament to the amount of war we had at that time - made it very hard for both clans.

Goth Crewcut. Going to another clan is fair enough. Going to another clan after you've been massively helped for weeks by your current clan, and then later fighting against them, is beyond the pale, and I was disappointed in matt for that decision.

The only thing lacking in GOTH was some decent leadership - with that, we could have turned a near-victory into a victory.

Let me tell you a bit about GOTH - it was at times so much like I_AM it was scary.

The Prophet Bhaal foretold of the problem:

Amazingly - you couldn't have been more right!

We had a real problem with this - we have some of the best players in the game in our clan - not because they're vets, but because they're good - they've been good from when they were little newbies right up till this round.

Dreadlocks: thought that the aim of the clan was to get him to be GO.
BeaverTrim: thought that the aim of the clan was to get any GOTH player GO.

Since BeaverTrim was an elf, and was online a _lot_ early on, he pulled ahead of Dreadlocks in recruiting, and would help the clan with upgrades only if it didn't slow him down considerably - which is a perfectly acceptable and sensible tactic. Sadly, it wasn't the same tactic Dreadlocks was using. He was expecting the clan to pull together to support him a lot, so he trained many of his workers as alchemists to improve his research, and waited for the gold and resources to pour in from his clan. This never really happened.

So what we ended up with, was the top two players playing different games. In the end, Dreadlocks probably needed more support than he received in order to pull far enough ahead to hold the GO for 72 hours, and maybe it would have been sensible to switch to BeaverTrim as our GO candidate. But Dreadlocks was clan chief, and as such, many followed the goal he believed we were playing to. It took a long while for it to become apparent to me at least that the two main characters in our clan were not 100% aligned to the same goal. And that really didn't help us. What we really needed was someone to step in, realise that we were pulling in two different directions, have an arguement about it, and choose one or other direction. But both Dreadlocks and BeaverTrim are played by some stubborn players, and Ponytail and I, probably more able to step in and sort them out, were too lazy to fight with them and iron things out.

Later in the game was another example of the calamitous GOTH tactics. Near the end, we had Dreadlocks in GO position, needing only another 24 hours or so to get Grand Overlord. What do you need to hold Grand Overlord position? Gold, and tons of it. I was sitting there with hundreds of peasants, maintaining a maximum possible income ever after I reached 25/day. I never bought a moat for my fortress because to do so would have been to waste 11mil gold that could be used to support Dreadlocks. I think Comb-over and Topknot were probably working on a similar tactic. But certainly not all of us were. At the end, Goldilocks and Mohawk were sitting around with well over 900 troops and miserable incomes, and I came online one day recently to find that the whole clan were sitting there clubbing together to get Cornrows a moat for his fortress - I was quite amazed at that - at the time that 15mil or so should surely have been going to Dread to get him back up as GO...?! But we were again playing too many conflicting tactics. We had enough gold either to try to hold Dread up, or to upgrade other players and try to improve the clan rank. Why the hell we tried to do both, I can't understand.

With the addition of Goth M@llet into the clan late in the day, and the expertise of ~goth Mullet down the ranks, we did increase our gold later on, and that got us in total something like another ten hours on the GO clock for Dreadlocks. But it was far too little too late.

GOTH have some bloody good players. I wasn't too impressed by MTHN's attacking - I believe that they should have been able to kill quite a number more of my regulars than they did - I only lost 23 which I find remarkable given the opportunites they had to kill them. In comparison, GOTH were adding regulars' deaths to the tally every minute - the current count is 2312 regulars killed by the clan - even when outnumbered. However, although GOTH had some damn good players, they were probably the suckiest clan I've yet played in. Too much stubborn sticking to personal tactics, too little communication, and no-one willing/able to take a strong firm lead to the clan and order people around. This made it fun in that you could do your own thing, but in terms of success, it was never going to help us reach our potential.

You can't beat the Goth Mullets - best set of names ever seen in WoE in my totally unbiased opinion ;) I think I might be winning my own up-your-arse award this time round!

Funniest Event:
The only really funny event I can remember is the reactions of people as the Goth Mullets started to register at the start of the round. "There are two Goth Mullets!" "No, there are 3!" "Five now" "A whole clan" "Argh! - two whole clans!!" Sadly that's was about the only thing we managed to organise properly all round!

Most Tragical event in the game:
Bijepoor (armageddon and/or jeffyna) playing like Jazushiite... rather than playing well, he had to abuse any loophole he could find to get ahead. A bit like Ben Johnson (the Canadians among you will remember him I'm sure!) and other top athletes who turn to drugs to get ahead. Still, there have not yet, at least, been any reports of people cloning themselves in athletics to help the relay team...

Thing you hate most from the game:
The fact that you need so much online time to do well. MTHN are a perfect example of this. Most of MTHN are online a lot, or at least frequently during the day if not for long stints at a time. Also, most of MTHN are not that good at fighting. Probably partly because they've done little of it in the past, but I am amazed that I never lowered my health deliberately, had no armour research at all, always slept for over 8 hours without logging in, and yet lost only 23 regulars all round. There were some silly mistakes that they made when attacking me - if they'd been a clan of IronFists, that tally would have been 80, not 23.
But yet MTHN are top clan. They're not bad players, I'm certainly not saying that, but nor are they particularly outstanding from what I've seen on my attack log. If WoE depended less on online time, then players like Predicon would be in the top page instead of people who just live on their computers. And I notice a correlation between my success and my online time. Even small things like staying up later and getting up earlier, can make a few places of ranking difference - playing at lunchtimes and not playing at lunchtimes makes a massive difference too, and being at work/school for 8 hours a day fairly much destroys your chances of doing well. So a strong thumbs up to anyone who is at work for 8 hours a day, sleeps for 8 hours a day, and still finished in the top 50!

Event worthy of telling in the pub/school canteen:
I think people will speak for a while about GOTH, and their wars. Most notably, of course, their war with MTHN, but holding out simultaneously against MTHN, M+HN, TDU, tune, RLs, and a few potshots from FaB and LaFN is pretty impressive. Of course (as above) also helped by some players being online a lot.
GOTH killed more troops than any other clan, including (I believe) more regulars than any other clan. They won more gold than any other clan, and more resources than any other clan. They were involved in three of the top five wars, three of the top five feuds, and most of the bloodiest battles. Those that fought those battles, those that supplied the finance for them, those that provided the intelligence, and those that gave moral support are all to be congratulated. As are those who clubbed together in their masses to fight GOTH, and eventually to take away their shot at GO. It took you guys a long time to do, and a lot of clans to do it, but you managed it in the end. So well done for breaking us, but well done to GOTH for making a fight of it against the odds for so long. Possibly (Esopo will disagree I'm sure) a display of resiliance as good as those of the Evil Lizards in v2 and v3...?

Best Bug:
Coming back from vacation to find I had -400k gold and -800k ore...!

Best Player:
None stood out particularly for me this round. I thought that myself and my clan could have done better, and mistakes by us could have cost us the GO. I also thought mistakes made by MTHN and others gave us the chance for GO we perhaps shouldn't have managed to get. I think I'll give best player to Goth M@llet. First of all, he managed to get matt to a position in the top of the rankings...! Then he managed to blend the demise of G0TH into OuT and hold the remaining Goths from that clan together. And when he joined the GOTH clan near the end, it was the most organised it had been in a while, and the gold he supplied was useful. If he was young and single and with more free time than he could use, and some half-decent allies, then he'd be winning this game.

This was the best age I ever played....

We had no diplomats in our clan early in the game and I tried really hard to sort out things but I had joined the clan a bit too late...maybe thats why we lost RUF and also failed to make many good clans our allies

Well once again ive been reminded just how great this game can be, this round we've had Mass resignation, treachury, one hell of a War and more importantly an absolute scream!!

Least honorable clan: Too much treachury and backstabbing this round to really single one clan out, unfortunately it has to go to OUT, however thats not especially to the clan as a whole, more to the clans misdirected leader.

Funniest Player: Oh Boy, well it wouldnt be PC to vote for myself and theres been more hillarious exchanges in this round than I could possibly shake several sticks at, Rage(Goth dreadlocks) and his Rasta conversations usually at 2 or 3 am in my timezone were most memorable, in my own well Crusher was as ever the cause of much mirth and merriment, But for all round mad hattery and complete off the wall randomness it has to go to the resident Court Jester, Totally Titts, Mr Terry Tate!!(AKA RICK JAMES)

Least Fave player: Joint honours here both of whom were supposed to be with us from the outset, Bije(Armageddon)/Jeffyna, think my post when M+HN was disolved by them said it all.

Most honorable player:Well this is a difficult one, But it has to go to Duck Dodgers for an event that happened very early in the round, that guy was good to his word!! Also a very notable mention has to go to Rage(G.D) for the appology he sent in response to a message from one of his clan that I didnt even think was that strong.

Least honorable player: I Could say Bije again here however ultimately it has to be our supposed friend the Grand Victim, Graphic Violence!

Funniest event in the game:There were several surreal occurences, but almost the last of them has stuck in my mind the most, When Sarnia was Babysitting for Crusher, Bought the wrong mercs after Crusher had been hit hard and managed to lose him ten regs in one hit, almost 75% of what Crusher lost the whole round in 30 seconds, lol, absolute classic moment.

Most Tragical event in the game:All the quitting that went on, firstly Hive ( would have been an even more interesting round if theyd stayed) and then M+THN disbanding, absolute tragedy that, but only for the guys who remained!

Favourite part of the game:THE WARS, well just the seemingly endless one from almost Beggining to end!

Thing you hate most from the game:Has to be the amount of whingeing that goes on by the few about the many.

What are you talkin about? I only play in 2 clan RUF and the babby SITH, and i leave RUF afther finish most of the upgrates of the clan, BECOSE MYTH offer me slaves, so i decide to take a rest afther a week of being banged by LAFN1, 2 and FAB, whit half of my clan at vac and GOTH did nothing.
The second time I leave for the GO race,sad for me to admit that we were at war whit LAFN and FAB( they werent attacking the secnd time ) I wouldnt have a chance in RUF whit all the wars.

I want to thank, in no particular order, the players that helped me enjoy this game:
The Dagger, Predicon, psymann, toast, texfull, deathangel, ujang, and Cavalier - you all have been in the clans that I've been while my time in WOE, and you are the ones I truly can call my friends outside of WOE. (Cavalier, maybe one day Carnage and Destruction will fight side by side ;))

Special mention to 007/Asterix for also being a friend that I come to respect outside of WOE - it's too bad we never were in the same clan for a whole age.
Elzud - it took until the LAST few days of v8 for you and I to be FINALLY in the same clan, but I'm glad it happened.
Secret - well, what can I say? knowing you was like a long rollercoaster ride.... many ups and downs... but at the end, you did make it enjoyable for me.
Bhaal - you're my favorite Game Admin ever - then again, this is the only game I play online! HAHAHA! But seriously, we had our differences when in the first few Ages of the game, but in the end, I'm really glad that you told me about your game.
Azure - I had my doubts about you because of earlier Ages (you as an ELs and all), but it was a pleasure to have you in the clan for the past 2 Ages... you know how to seperate between Ages the best without holding onto past events - in most ways, you see and play the game the way I do.
Atlas (aka Yellowjacket) - I enjoy our chats outside of WOE, and although we didn't end off ideally in v8 (deletion of HIVE), I still have the utmost respect for you.
darkprince, and "squiggles" - both of you are very good team players and I enjoyed being in the same clan as you. (and psy was the one that came up with "squiggly" first).
Terry Tate (aka Rick James) - damn man! FINALLY you and me cleared the air and became friends! Too bad we didn't any sooner, and too bad we were never in the same clan... it would have been colourful.

I know I will have my "OH YEAH! I forgot to mention...." moment as soon as I post this, but just know that all those that I have some contact with either through past clan members, past allies, PM's in the game, and, hell, past enemies, you all made this game enjoyable for me in one way or another.

I’m not going to be voting this round. My clan had to be disbanded from the get-go (I kicked them out cause they are too stubborn to leave) and from that point on I lost interest so any vote of mine would not be made with thoughtful consideration.

It is not often that I recognize the work of my enemies, partly because I want them dead. However, although this round was not the most thrilling of rounds for me, I did get to see some memorable performances that I wish to celebrate publicly.

GOTH put up one hell of a fight. Their “let’s attack everybody on the first week” strategy caught me completely off guard and meant the demise of the Lizards way too early into the game. Although in general the Lizards shined as usual (taking two of the champion titles - you guys rock!) GOTH and friends managed to break us as a team.

Then, IMO, GOTH’s strategy turned on them, but without going into details on this part, I want to commend them for putting up such a great fight when they seemed to be on the losing end, to the point of having a GO candidate that came pretty close.
And let’s not forget the wealth of titles GOTH is taking home this round.

I also want to commend MTHN. So far the joke was that they were avoiding wars and playing politics to stay uninvolved. This round they proved beyond any doubt that they can stick to their guns like the best of clans, and perhaps better. Winning the #1 clan spot this round was a terribly hard task for any clan, and the fact that MTHN got the spot says a lot.

I also want to thank our enemies for making it so easy for my clan to establish new friendships. And I want to mention my appreciation for clans that fought with us against common foes.

Yes that is correct other wise i would have kept on 'fighting' and this realy did hurt me also i lost regs (Not from You) but from surpirse bear when it was inpossible for me to loose them but i dont no how but im over it. Favourite clan: TDU (how original, huh?)...If I HAVE to vote for one outside of mine, I would say FaB...Those guys let me sing ping them like mad for resources in the beginning of the age (THANKS WISH BEAR!), provided that I never killed mercs....and for a "baby orc" needing wood for buildings, and to grow big and strong, I REALLY appreciated that! :lol:


Least Fave clan: If there was one clan that kept on hitting us regularly, it was LAFN...I personally had no problem with them, but from what the 7-12 players in TDU were saying, they were a considerable nuisance to us.


Most honorable clan: The LOONEY TOONES!
"It isn't the size of the Dog in the Fight, but the size of the Fight in the Dog".....but in this case, we are dealing with a Cat, a Duck, a Rat, and a whole number of cartoon characters who were as colourful as their IDs....You lead by example with the ample heart you have, even when getting kicked around...

Least honorable clan: I guess it would have to be the SECOND G0th Mullet group...joined in the gangbanging, then dismembered the group once TDU got to them...The only person that DID fight with bravery and skill was Goth Crewcut so I don't have a problem with Volcanic/Matty in any way or form though. Don't listen to any of that stuff about you being dishonorable or anythng, you did your own thing, stood up for yourself and fought real well!


Funniest Player: I know we are only allowed one...But both Duck Dodgers and Gamma were just OFF THE HOOK!


Favourite Player: Felix Leiter....The "Sugardaddy" of all TDU players....you needed something, you got it, no questions asked......If I have to choose one OUTSIDE of TDU, it would have to be Goth Dreadlocks....I may be mad, but you were your own undoing yet still kicked a lot of ass and made a run at GO, and I admire that.


Least Fave player: Whoever ordered and coodinated the gangbanging in the beginning of the age.


Most honorable player: Texfull....easily...Only person I came across that when I asked to walk away from a fight we didn't want to go through, he did. Thought with his head, and not his ego.


Least honorable player: I think it is safe to say that in this crazy age, we all did something at one point we wish we could take back....Like Zud told me last age, and I see for myself, this game can occasionally bring out the worst in you, aside from your best......

Woooow ... what an age !!!
This age reminded me again why I love this game so much - it had everything you can ask for ! :rolleyes:
This age I had a quite strange role :ph43r: being the only player in MYTH able to log on often enough to reach a nice rank - of course based on the support of my clan mates, who concentrated on my development. This led to the weird situation where the gap in rank between them and me was just huge. Soon I became interesting to other clans and they did not ease up in their efforts to make me change clan. :unsure:
However as soon as there was the opportunity to support Excalibur in his race for GO we [all of MYTH, Scorpio, Bridgebuilder, Thug, Obelix (who managed to return from vacation in the end), Dekar, Vonn, Dumbo and me] grabbed it with both hands and did not let go before it was done. :D

Most honorable player: Again another tough call, part of me wants to give this to Texfull for going the age clan less and winning the raider title but a big part of me wants to give this to NTG, the guy was attacked relentlessly and yet still ended the age near or on page one with only one defensive upgrade to go, the numbers speak for themselves just over 1900 victories and just under 5400 defeats, the guy took a beating, sorry Texfull you were another that was very helpful to me and we had fun testing each others troop configuration but I’m giving this to NTG, great job to both of you.

Funniest event in the game: For me when I told players that I had less then 31 K in troop experience but was still ranked in the top 40, I got some interesting responses to that.

Most tragic event in the game: I was going to say seeing clans get deleted and players leaving but this age for me it was the personal side of the game, we sometimes forget that the people playing this game have lives outside of the net. The four players I mentioned in another post (Goth Crew cut, I am so pleased to hear your dad is back home) Duck Dodgers is scheduled for surgery some time next week and his brother (Pinkey/Rick) who I’m sure has been facing some difficulties seeing his brother as sick as he has been, the other two I mentioned also are still facing a tough road ahead.

Favourite part of the game: Watching the GO contenders have to work for the title

Thing you hate most from the game: The time, I went from an offlad to an onlad just before the end of the age, good thing I quit my job so I can play this game more

For those who didn't know this, I was Timur this age. So some of my comments are from an admin perspective, but some are from a player perspective.

Favourite clan: TDU - I was only in the clan for about 2 days, but they made me feel instantly at home, got me a defence upgrade, and were really supportive. RLs gets a vote here also. After all, they are pretty much my second home in the game. Too bad all the ELs couldn't be together this age though.
Least Fave clan: GOTH - Thanks for all the headaches involved with assuring newbs that you guys are not dupes.
Most honorable clan: RLs. If they tell you something, it will happen.

Funniest Player: Bohica - I found it very "funny" when you and Tyr arranged that going away party for me when I joined TDU. How did that go again? Oh yeah, "Tyr's spies steal 1.7 million gold."
Favourite Player: Bohica - He was usually online the same time as me so we could always chat.
Least Fave player: Gandalf (Radonero on the forum). Spends all his time looking for ways he and Armageddon can cheat the system, and then complains that I fix loopholes that he finds.
Most honorable player: texfull - Stayed clanless and still did well.

Funniest event in the game: When I logged on after being gone for 40mins to find i had 25 messages and Duce , TT, Val Capone, and Village Idiot where just going to down in the send clan message buttion and in the clan view bulletin board lol..

Most Tragical event in the game:Hive Deleteing :( ...was looking forward to fighting them especially all the messages hornet spewed at me in the beginning for catching him attacking online

Favourite part of the game: GO battles...damn those are fun

Thing you hate most from the game: The politics i think next round ill let someone else deal with this aspect of the game this round was just too much

Event worthy of telling in the pub/school canteen: Village Idiots drunken rampage coming home from his birthday. Caused a little comosion but in the end it worked out and he just seemd a little stressed about the BAR test....still love ya man. Good luck on that test.

Thing you hate most from the game: Jeffyna being able to attack me straight and kill 10-20 lvl 2 mercs with 10-15 10 turn attacks

Most regs killed by a clan--- OuT a shitload from Tdu, Mthn, M+thn (who deleted we like to believe because of us) Goth(who we later helped lol) random players, and small crappy clans who wanted to fight(Paint) I got a few hundred. We also had el zud with over 1k to our score lol

Most warring clans--- I vote OuT and Goth... OuT went to war with anyone that pissed us off and then we tried to help Goth out even though in the start of the age we made them the bloodiest war.

Favourite clan: FaB (even with a lot of new members this age, the Fast and Butal spirit managed to take over the hearts of a lot of Caring Bears. the sweet sound of war drums can be hypnotizing)
