Funniest event in the game: 1) Those inflow of mercs periodically, always causing lots and lots of excitement
2) Tex's daughter waking him up in the middle of the night, and he logging in to save his account from attack by daver and counter it :D
Most Tragical event in the game: 1) The deletion of accounts of so many good players in the game, due to a myriad of reasons.
2) The general over-'politicisation' of the game driving many veterans to extreme 'game-tiredness'. Something that really needs to be issued if this game has to have at least a group of seniors always around to stream the newcomers of the game in the right direction.
Favourite part of the game: 1) The way CELL brought down some players (and even clans!) though the odds were stacked heavily against us.
2) The clan discussions we have almost everyday and how we always sidetrack from the game sooner or later :lol:
Thing you hate most from the game: 1) The new mercs being soooo low, and me having to keep on checking off and on in the game. What is tons tons more frustrating than that is when I enter a certain number of mercs, and 1 gets taken off before that and I get the 'Not that many mercs left' msg.
2) The huge politics surrounding the game. It gives it a very different feel than from the first few versions, when it was more fun than now.

Most Tragical event in the game: the (relatively easy) downfall of FARK…...thus denying the conflict between CELL and FARK which was in mind before SITH + VV forced a modification of plans. nevertheless, the fact that they were on top showed they have potential. also, this is hypothetical but if FARK managed to stand well against TPA, it would have shown that elves still have some staying power in the top ranks

Favourite clan: None stood out by a long way, but CELL always impress me.

Least Favourite Clan: A tight one, but this goes to FARK, for being rather unpleasant enemies. Although some of them are nice, FARK members have been responsible for: accusing my clan of cheating, even after their actions have been cleared as ok, and even when they do the same themselves; quitting as soon as things got tough; boldly stating, in a rather rude tone, that they would have been top clan easily, ignoring the fact that actually, their high rankings in the early part of the game were because other clans kept workers trained to increase income, and other clans trained less strong but much better troops which made them appear stronger than they were; ignoring their lower members and instead headhunting other (often treaturous) members into their clan to increase their strength. [if you disagree with all that please do not reply in this thread - keep this one clean, we all have our own opinions - let's agree to disagree please]

Most honourable clan: Again, none stand out this round, but I go for Mithen Empire who I not yet found any bad word for, and as far as I am aware have held true to truces etc.

Least honourable clan: Has to go to Vae Victus. Not only did a VV member break a truce to attack me, but other VV players also broke less official truces with my clan. However, the clan puts some pizazz into the game, and they take any punishment they bring upon themselves without complaining, moaning, accusing others of cheating, whining about rules being rubbish, sending insulting messages or any of the host of other things that some clans have done before. For that, in the same way as ELs before them, they do deserve some positive comment.

Favourite Player: Has to be Havoc. He has more enthusiasm than me when I'm going on a trip to the cookie factory. Coupled with this, he loves to fight, helps the clan - more so this round than previous rounds, has quite an amusing style on msn messenger, and gets the whole clan worked up and ready to play. I have found him to be a more giving and entertaining clan member this round than in previous rounds which has been nice. I also have to give commendations to:
darth dumbo: witty messages, a hilarious clan avatar, and a level head.
trotk: I always like his style of play, shame about the dodgy vacation upgrade ;-).
The Dagger: for his work on the forums and a good player to boot.

Least Favourite player: probably Stuntz for attacking me right before a truce and not apologising afterwards, and because he needs to get some anger management skills in his messages... but I don't actually hate anyone on this game, anyone who puts time and effort into this is great really.

Funniest player: can't think why DeathAngel has left this category out this round. Anyway, for reasons above, this round it also goes to Havoc. He was on form all round!

Most honorable player: Azael gets my vote - I daresay his clan history would suggest otherwise, but I never felt I was likely to get a knife in my back when I wasn't looking. Again, honour always depends on what angle you look at it from!

Least honorable player: Well there's no competition for this one given the circumstances. Pinky felt the need to break a truce to attack me, steal a load of gold and take away some of my slower-fleeing slaves. I had to go a few days with no-slave to bring me my three o'clock afternoon cup of tea.

Favourite Ally: Seems we played most of the round with everyone against us! Apart from Safety, who mostly just buried their head in the sand, our only true allies were CELL so they have to win. Although not the first to rush to our aid in times of war, they knew we were a threat to their #1 clan dreams, but didn't take the dishonourable option of kicking us when we were down to help their cause.
Also, commendations go to:
lizard (from Safety): willing to help us regardless of his clan's support - always willing to get stuck in to support our cause.
Xanbubb (from Conquer): really helped our clan when everyone else was ganging up on us - I'm glad he picked the 'right' side to support as he and his clan played well all round - hats off to them.

Most gender-confusing player's name: Can I have "most-species-confusing-name"? If so, it goes to Pinky - a name for a pig, not for a dwarf leader!

Stupidest player-name: ntm4 is one of many who appear to have accidentally typed their password in the "username" box... seriously, at one point I was looking at the lower ranks and wondering if there'd been some sort of bug that switched them over, theire were so many unpronouncable combinations of letters and numbers! Obviously note ntm4 is not a stupid player!

Backstabbing-untrustworthy bast*rd: None that made an impact to me personally. I would say there were a few from VV and maybe SITH/FARK but I can't really remember. I know that Lord Typhus in our clan also made some unfortunate attacks by not reading his messages! Shall we call it quits?

Player who spent too much time in the game: Most of us are guilty of this.

Most rebbelious player: probably fivefive. Early in the round, he seemed to be unable to understand any of the relations between our clan and his and just seemed to attack anything that he looked at first regardless of the political diplomatic consequences.

Most clan-minded player: Hmm, difficult to pick as you generally only know the workings of your own clan... but I am going to go for DeathAngel because once again his clan is ranked so high, and once again he is placed modestly in the middle of it without taking centre stage.

Funniest event in the game: Ooh, there were a few this round:
- the guy who posted a thread in the forum about the future GO and left off almost everyone who finished in the top ten, which promted the vets to come screaming in with "It'll be an orc! An orc!! Watch those orcs I tell you!" while many newbies went on at length about how high the elves were ranked... (toast nicked that nomination from me!).
- Havoc posting daver's troop layout in clan chat.
- someone on page 40 sending me a message telling me that I should join in the fight against texfull, who was of course my own clan leader.
And a few that weren't at the expense of newbies (sorry guys):
- darth dumbo's clan avatar for SITH.
- Havoc's anagram of SITH.
- Any of the times my msn popped up with Havoc saying "oops". This generally meant he'd just done something incredibly stupid like been caught spying on people he shouldn't have been spying on, or just attacked someone who was about to revenge on him and murder him, or sent 10mil gold to someone who was offline instead of someone who needed the gold...

Most Tragical event in the game: Many good players and friends within the game finally quitting due to lack of time to play the game. de_vos, sibyl, powderpuffpower, liberty just to name a few.

Favourite part of the game: the growing and expanding early stages; I am not so keen on wars in general - I leave that to people like Luna, probably the greatest of all warriors!

Thing you hate most from the game: the dodgy day-change rule and the 22% rule meaning that one slipup on day 1 put me in the region of 30 regulars behind where I could otherwise have been and there was nothing I could do about it.
Also limited mercs.

Event worthy of telling in the pub/school canteen: the Week of War, when 11 TPA members fought with war damage against 48 others, and despite facing odds of over 4:1 managed to hold their own and recover (admittedly, only by the skin of our teeth - it was a well organised barrage of fighting we suffered).
Also:
The FARK vs TPA war - known forever more by TPA members as "The Great Food Fight". Within hours of daver's rash declaration of war, he had destroyed himself, and Havoc had stolen about 20mil of food from FARK. TPA members were transferring millions of tons of food to each other in the incorrect assumption that somebody wanted some. After a few hours, every member had around 7mil food lying around and didn't know what to do with it. Perhaps you had to be there...
And finally, not to forget a similar battle from CELL, also facing impossible odds when fighting KORP, VV, SITH and others but again showing why, at the moment, they are still unbeatable. I daresay with lessons learnt this round, they'll find it harder next time as the new WoE generation set forth for their revenge...

Finally, my two permitted extra options, the same two I always add:

Best player: I have always maintained that smb_secret is the best player the game has seen. This is still true if you were playing against a computer or in a political vacuum. But this round, considering diplomacy as an important skill, texfull played very well. Also trotk, as usual, put in a fine performance. But I will give the award this round to a bit of a dark horse, Lancelot who managed to get into the top ten finishing position, despite having only human troops, and being a member of a rather ropey clan. His ranking was surely due to his good play, and he is one of the few players that are not in TPA or CELL but deserve to be, on merit.

Best bug: Has to go to the bug where people who quit took their mercs with them. "There are no mercs!" we cried... over and over again... and then a sheepish Bhaal comes along weeks later saying "Sorry I forgot to put mercs back in the pool when players deleted their accounts, so ther have been increasingly fewer and fewer available...".

Too many to name, but to pick one would be Cavalier. He was against TPA and the whole "clan-hopping" fiasco, but once he had heard both sides of the story, he managed to weigh it and saw that TPA was NOT cheating. He then hopped from TPA's enemy clan to join TPA! He has proven himself to be a great trustworthy and loyal clan member for TPA. Hat's off to you my man. You who do not discriminate nor show any bias.
Least honorable player:
There were a few but the one that stands out the most recent is Azure.

Can't choose since they are all great allies, but if I had to choose, then CELL all the way. They keep to their words!

Funniest event in the game:
The war between TPA and FARK. FARK declared war on TPA, FARK gets slaughtered in less than 12 hours, two FARKs deletes their id (one of which was daver), FARKs drops heavily in ranks... all this and the war between them disappeared from the Greatest War list due to TPA accepting truce from FARKs..... Think of all those forgotten troops! :(
Most Tragical event in the game:
Losing a top player de_vos... something to do with "I need to concentrate on school". Truly one of the greatest player (if not the greatest) in this game!
Favourite part of the game:
Seeing Lord_Cliffe, Stuntz, fivefive, Nos, daver drop in ranking SO fast in such a short time.
Thing you hate most from the game:
the whole buying mercs from BM only to find out that some one beat you to it, and then they all disappear from the pool :(
Event worthy of telling in the pub/school canteen:
1. TPA and CELL surviving and STILL remained to be top two clans while 3-4 clans war against each of them!
2. Claiming "The Raider" title, but somehow "Havoc - The Raider" just doesn't sound right.... sounds too gay :unsure:

1. Player who I would HATE to be my clan leader:
daver, who has a cocky attitude thinking that his clan was good enough to beat TPA, but in the end he abandon his clan by deleting his id when the war wasn't going in his favour.
The other player is Stormbringer. Who near the end, openly advertise for any player to join VV in order to do war damage on TPA, and then kicks them out in order for the next person to join in and get their shots - hey, isn't this clan hopping at its worse!?

Ultimately, Stormbringer lead his clan to total defeat and dropped his clan from top 5 to top 10 instead - sure it was a great fight they put up, but to what end? VV are definitely no cowards, but perhaps just a tee bit suicidal?

Funniest event in the game: Ok people I was waiting for this. I don't know, maybe you've noticed maybe not but: More than a month I was living with 20 up to 30 million gold outside my bank, for hours. I don't think people would have neglected that so it's quite funny. Another funny thing was the fact that people in VV wouldn't come online even if they got FREE upgrades from me. I still can't believe I held like 600 million gold total in that period of time without getting attacked.
Most Tragical event in the game: Pinky's destruction and the problems in my clan. Our defeat and losses weren't tragic, on the contrary, they were the one thing which got us our place in the chronicles of ages. Without communication or cooperation you can't get top 5. I seem suicidal yes, but I think that was a good choice. We stood up to CELL and TPA. Vae Victus, clan of rebels.
Favourite part of the game: The period of prosperity. It was so nicee...

All right, here are my two cents, and before I post, I will mention that I am Stormbringer, so that should give you a little context to what I am about to say.

Favourite clan: CELL - They fought like lions
Least Fave clan: VV - Yes, I know it is my own clan, but it still was my least favourite clan. I don't know how you can have so much talent and experience in one clan yet still behave so dysfunctionally. There were tons of great people in that clan, but somehow we just couldn't work as a team. My other least favourite clan is HELP, also known as the TPA fan club.
Most honorable clan: KORP - They stayed with us in all of your fights.
Least honorable clan: SITH - They were supposed to fight with us and KORP against various enemies. All I saw was KORP and VV troops dying while SITH gained in ranks. I guess cowardice does pay. A quick look at the war against CELL will corroborate my statements. All three clans were to attack CELL and wipe them out. SITH was the first to chicken out and that was after doing only paltry attacks on CELL. If they would have stuck to the plan the entire game would have changed.

Most honorable player: Aghar of KORP. He stuck behind his alliances.
Least honorable player: Azure of VV. (Yes, my own clan again.) Two wars, two pacts with the enemy to avoid attacks. Can anyone say "coward"? Darth Dumbo is tied for this honour with Azure. First his clan is going to attack at 6 PM, then it is going to attack in a few hours, then it is going to attack when everyone is online, then it is going to attack when Haley's comet comes back. Hmm, I think they are still waiting to attack.
Favourite Ally: KORP, all the way.
Least Fave Ally: SITH - allies fight for you. SITH just talked a mean streak.

Backstabbing-untrustworthy bast*rd: Azure (Again my own clan. This is getting to be a theme.) Two secret pacts with the enemy in two wars.
Most trustworthy leader: Deathangel. We might have screwed him over, but he stayed true to his word to us.
The shucks-i-wish-he(she)-wasnt-my-leader: Worms. All that cringing and scraping and sucking up to TPA must really get annoying to the rest of the people in the clan.
Player who spent too much time in the game: Texfull. He was always online. I hope he sleeps for a few days to recover.

Most clan-minded player: Nosferadu. People will look at VV and think we stunk as a clan. They don't know the crap that went on in that clan to try to get 12 stubborn dysfunctional people to work together. My hat is off to Nosferadu and his efforts to try and meld the clan into a cohesive team.
Funniest event in the game: TPA built their clan by clan hopping, and they even send Cavalier to CELL to fight us, but when I start advertising for fighters to hop in and join my clan and fight TPA, I get official complaints. And with TPA again, they complain that SITH is pinging their health down, yet at the same time they encourage weak clans to attack them to get their own health pinged down.
Most Tragical event in the game: FARK implodes after 1 day.
Favourite part of the game: Political dealings with honourable people.
Thing you hate most from the game: People whining to my playing account. If you knew who my playing account was, then you should have also known the rule "Don't send admin complaints to my playing account!". I also was annoyed by the mercs in the market. I really have to change that so that if you type '5' but there are only 4, you still get the 4.

How can I forget about "The Great Food Fight!" war against FARK! From that alone I managed to still over 27 million food in just a few hits! As well as stoled over 47 mill gold! Needless to say, we had so much food (as psymann mentioned) that we were just transferring food to each other just for the hell of transferring it! (I guess in part, we each were afraid to be attacked and stripped of the food, so we tried to pass it along like a hot potato)!

Yeah, you had to be there!

Favourite clan: VV. As much as some have complained about VV, we had extraordinary leadership. Nosferadu is a great strategist and Stormbringer
is a great tactician. Could we have done things better? Certainly. But as far as
I was concerned, this was the Age of the HowlingMan. It might sound funny from
someone who barely ended up in the top 100, but I really enjoyed this age more
than any previous one. The rules changes meant (for me) that attacking became
much more convenient than restraint, piracy more profitable than peace.
During the entire round, I almost never had enough attack turns!

Least Fave clan: HELP. Fence sitters.

Most honorable clan: SITH. The SITH army. The SITH BORG.

I'd also like to give honorable mention to my enemies. CELL turned out to be a tough nut to crack and and I certainly admire the raw tactical ability of TPA, and with one or two notable exceptions, most of it's members.

i was scheduled to go to CELL before the war was declared by you guys. i was tired of fence-sitting and when you guys declared war, it just made it more worth it. :P

Well as far as the awards go you can pretty much just copy NTM4's list into mine, but there is one I have to list.

Least honorable player: Fatcow. Hands down. I am still not sure why all of a sudden he starting attacking us but leaving his clan to attack us and then joining back to avoid the revenge is just awful. We thought we had a good alliance but were forced to cancel it to do some damage. And what do you know, after the alliance was cancelled and we started attacking fatcow he was forced to stop due to loss of troops.

He was in a yahoo conference ...and he after he has messaged you he tells me he has sent you the messages.
