Violencia
Who are you?
Welcome to the world of Violencia, a swirling tapestry of sex, lies, and murder. Set in 2020 in the city of New York, the future hasn't quite ended up like people had originally planned. After the passing threat of Y2K in the year 2000, fears of a mass technological meltdown seemed to disappear. No one worried. No one cared.

And every one regretted it.

In year 2010, things started going backwards. Slowly, ever so slowly, huge data banks began disappearing. Bank transfer files, criminal records, student's GPA, everything. Later, officials would claim that if they had only been more prepared, they might have been able to stop the technilogical apocolypse that the United States was thrown into. In the end, sources claimed that the loss of data was an overlooked mistake in computer systems, unsolved, and unfound, and they still cannot understand what happened.

The anti-government group, 3W (standing for World Wide Way), was blamed for the virus. 3W, although extremists, are no terrorists. They believe in helping the helpless, perhaps in less then legal ways, and showing the government for the false bastards they are. The blame that was shoved onto them caused drastic measures to be taken, and a small faction, titled Violencia, broke off from 3W and formed a new, extremely violent group. They believed that the only way to solve problems was through brute, violent force. The two factions not only are at war with the government, but they are at war with themselves.

Now, in year 2020, America is rebuilding itself. Post-virus, the USA is filled with a new American dream... surviving. Very few have the pleasures and accomodations of a plush New York life... cops are no longer good... they're crooked, only looking out for number one... 3W is still active, fighting Violencia and the Governement, the Government in turn trying to find and stop the two waring factions, a specific team planted in New York, working under cover to try and end the factions once and for all.

Who will you be? A murderer? A whore? A doctor? A crooked cop? Or perhaps, the one good soul that could pull all of this together? Find your world. Find your place. But most importantly, find your way.

Duke was alone, not that it really bothered him. He was strolling, under the moonlight, his revolver tucked snuggly in his pocket just incase any funny business was to go down. His eyes darted from one dark alley way to the next as his foot steps were the only thing that could be heard for miles, the echoes bouncing off the building walls as he pulled his shirt around him. The chilly air ruffling around his body, he knew he should have had more clothes on for this, supposedly, brief walk along the streets.

He knew his girlfriend was still asleep in the deserted hotel, just a few blocks up from where he was walking from, it was almost 2am and he still found that he couldn't sleep. Sleeping was a thing of the past, not when you have to keep away in fear that if you fall asleep 'they' will come and kill you.

Lola...she was always in his head, trying to manipulate his judgement, how could she? They have been seperated for almost 4 months, or was it longer? Duke lost all sense of time, everyday was the same....

It was actually four months, three days.

Lola wouldn't forget a thing like that.

Whenever she wandered the streets this late at night, it was because of one of two things; she was either on a mission, or she needed room to think. And boy, she needed room to think. Shoulders hunched against the cold, her small frame swathed in an overlarge down-jacket, she kept her head down, eyes cautious and wary. Walking around this time of night wasn't the brightest of ideas... that was why she chose this area. Although no where these days was actually 'safe', this place seemed better. However, the didn't stop her from carrying a small gun in her purse.

She took it everywhere she went now.

Raising her head, she saw a man in the shadow of a streetlight a few dozen yards down the way, walking towards her. Better safe then sorry, Lola ducks behind a dumpster, eyes wide, fingers itching to grab her gun. Peering out slowly, she waited for the man to pass. Please pass, she thought. I don't want to shoot you. That was the difference between her... and him. She wouldn't harm a stranger. He would. Throughout his strong leadership skills and impeccable strategic ways, he was still an animal.

Lola would never be like that.

Duke, shuffled his feet along the dirty footpath, ready to cross the road as he turned his head to the side, seeing if any cars were to pass. That was, until he glanced down the street from him, he thought he saw something move into the shadows.

Probably an overgrown sewer rat, they were a problem, the homeless - hence the nick name. Deciding against crossing the road, he wanted to figure out what it was that he saw. Stepping cautiously down the foot path, he didn't let his guard down for one second, he couldn't people were after him, always have and always will. That was, unfortunately, the nature of the job he so willing took up.

Stopping under a street light, one of the few that were still working, he looked to the left of him, a large, putrid smelling dumpster was the only thing he could see down the alley...

Her back against the grimy dumpster, Lola's breath was shallow, her chest moving very little as the steps drew nearer to where she was. Damnit, she thought, squeezing her eyes closed, one hand slipping into her purse, fingering the cool metal of the barrel, and slipping her grasp down to the handle. I don't want to do this. I don't want to -do- this! She opened her eyes, as she realized that the steps had stopped.

Slowly slipping her body down the dumpster, her head neared the ground. Twisting slightly, she glanced under the dumpster, towards the street, and saw a pair of shoes there. Fuck! she swore mentally. Straightening, the thought quickly. Suddenly she knew what to do. Hand still on her gun, though still in her bag, she raised he chin, and tried to steady her voice. "Keep walking, buddy!" she shouted, voice strong, though a bit unsure. "I've got a gun, and I'm a damned good marksman- er, woman!" she finished, nodding. Eh, it would've convinced her.

At first the shrill voice startled him, seeing as he wasn't aware of what type of murderer was behind that dumpster. Of course, that was until he whipped out his own gun, facing it steadily at the dumpster himself. Taking a few steps back, he finally clued into who it was, that voice which was all too familiar. It was her...

Duke had been thinking about her all night, she was the reason why he couldn't sleep, therefore taking this walk down the deserted yet dangerous street.

"Oh, hell, I should run for my life with that line..." he said sarcastically as he pretended to stumble back, his hands in the air like he surrendered already. "Lola, I know your voice anywhere... get out behind there, you wouldn't want to break a nail?"" he said snidely to her.

Suddenly, the being spoke. The voice entered her ears, and went straight to her heart, her brows furrowing deeply as her shallow breathing caught in her throat. No. No, no, no. The one person... the one person she couldn't stand... he would be the one standing on the other side of that dumpster. Jaw grounding angrily, her hand clutched her gun harder then ever, though still remaining in its bag. Rising, she lifted herself from the dirty ground and stood in the spill of the dull fluorescent light, chin raised stubbornly as she gazed at the male.

"Would be one of the smarter things you could do," she shot at him, fingers sliding along the smooth metal of her gun. She was wary of him; after all, he was... he was... he was him. Shifting a bit, she sidled along the dumpster, moving out into the road, though managing to stay a few yards away from the male at the same time. Why was he here? Now? How could this be? She refused to dwell on it, refused to be brought down by him... she had only recently accepted his betrayal, his... his unspeakable actions against her... and now.

At his comment, she frowned. "I'd rather break a nail then get caught in a crossfire with some thug..." she spat at him. Raising a brow, she looked up at him. I forgot how tall he was. "But I guess that's the difference between me and... well..." she gestured at him, a cold look in her eyes.

Duke smirked at her, she always took his bait so well. It amused him how much she detested being near him, and for the fact of the matter was, he didn't particularly want to be near her either. This chance meeting in the street was proving to make more problems than he had intended, but he was always up for some sort of challenge.

Shifting his weight to the other leg, he continued grinning at her. "You haven't changed at bit... I still can't decide if that's a good thing or not..." he said shoving his hands into his pockets.

"Not that either of us really care of one another, it's almost good seeing you again." he said turning his head away, looking down the dark street. He didn't want to admit that his feelings for her were keeping him awake at night, but they were histroy. Never to go back to the same old routine again, he knew that, but that wasn't going to stop him making her feel any worse than he assumed she was already feeling.
