Harper sat at the bar, her back turned to the rest of the room. A cold beer sat in front of her and she sipped from it every few seconds. She was deeply lost in the thought as she sat there, not really caring if someone came up and shot her.
Her brown leather coat was draped over the stool next to her, leaving her in her black tank and blue jeans. Her red hair was pulled up in a loose ponytail. She lifted the bottle and took a large swig. |

Ah,that was a great half an hour.
Not,the guy slobbered and kissed as if he were giving her CPR.Not to mention the fact that he was small in size-if you know what I mean-.Sighing,she once again popped in a breathment and applied a bit more lipgloss before strutting through the door.Men's eyes fell upon her like the dogs they were.Hounding her as she walked towards the bar, needing a break. Her butt gave a little show as she strutted, high heeled slingbacks clicking against the beer-sticky floor.Girls night out,eh?Your every night party girl...sorta.Today she wore a slinky dress, neck diving low.It wasn't as if she /liked/ her job,she just needed the money.Besides, she liked to feel wanted.Except she was considered a whore in this world. Taking a seat next to a girl who seemed to be dead,or thinking or something.Sighing, she smiled at the bartender,"Hey Mike.Gimme the usual."She said. The bartender nodded and walked off to fix her drink.Crossing her legs,Veronica Jackson turned and looked at the female.Cautiously, she poked her on the shoulder,"Hey you.Sitting around and drinking like that is not going to get you anywhere.Expecially in Queens. You're gunna either get raped or murdered.Either way,you should pay more attention to your surroundings." Wow.What a smart girl for nineteen.Wait, how did she get in?Oh...well,the doorman was one of her many customers.Who WOULDN'T let her in? |

Fletcher couldn't stand it any longer, he had to get out of his dank apartment and actaully go somewhere. Seeing as there was a dinky little bar just down the road and around the corner of his place, he figured he couldn't go wrong with going out, even if there were patrollers around, trying to hunt down pretty much anyone.
He had been sitting in that bar for about 10 minutes, sitting in the corner, his head bowed as he drank his sorrows away. Thinking about a good way to top himself off, just so then he wouldn't have to think about the war looming outside. Only lifting his head to take a large swig of his beer, he glanced around. Noticing a younger woman walk into the room, prostitue,,, obviously. There were so many of them around now-adays. He didn't really understand why they would let themselves stoop so low, but as he figured it all narrowed down to money. Something which he needed, but didn't have. He noticed a red head sitting not too far from him, she had the same sullen look on her face as he did. Persing his lips into a small smirk, he lowered his head once again and drank his sorrows away. |

There was always a slight possiblity that the girl was so wasted, she didn't even know where she was.Sighing,Veronica rolled her eyes and examined her nails as she waited for her drink.Of course she felt eyes on her. What else were perverted men supposed to watch.Taking her drink from the bartender, she smiled slightly at him,"Thanks Mike.Just put it on my tab."She said, hopping off the barstool, laughing slightly.Ah,there was the teenager Veronica. Turning towards where she felt where the eyes were coming from. She saw the man lower his head, just in time for her to look his way.Hell no.An older man wanted her?Well, actually, she'd gotten; -Married -Single -Desperate -Perverted -Possible rapists -And men over the age of thirty-five. Sad actually, but at least she made some money. This didn't excuse the man.Besides,he looked...sad.Maybe he just needed a good time.Maybe a friend? She laughed to herself as she made her way over, except not in that 'sexy' fashion. This time it was like a human being,no strings attached.Besides, the friend thing? All they wanted was sex.It was the male mind.Approaching the male, she leaned against the table, looking down at his lowered head.Sliding a few over her fake brown bangs out of her face, she smiled slightly; "Hi." Was all she mumbled.Usually, they did the approaching. But she felt that it was necessary. |

Fletcher looked up, hearing a small hello to the side of him. He couldn't understand why anyone in these times want to talk to anyone else. But as he raised his head he looked at her, blinking his dark eyes slowly. "Hello?" he said back, lowering his head once again, he point to the seat opposite him, signalling her to sit down invited. His eyes kept on the table, like he was reading a book carefully, he wasn't very good at conversations, and wracked his brain trying to figure out the reason why this particular girl, who had just walked into the bar - with all guys looking at her - came over to him.

Yeah!He talked to her.Inside, she felt like she needed to dance or something.Alright, whore not shot down.YEEEAHH!At least he wasn't one of those particular men when they score a prostitute it's like 'Ballin!'.That has to be the stupidest thing anyone's ever said to her-or anyone ever-after having a "passionate night". It's like going to a football game and screaming,"YOU GO SONICS!" Expecially since the Sonics are a basketball team.See?That's how weird it is. Smiling slightly, she set her drink down on the table and took a seat in front of the man,"Hello to you.I'm Veronica."She said, stating her real name aloud.Alright, his eyes were on the table. She took this as; either a deep thinker,a perv who's pretending to be shy so he could score,or both. She took the first one, because he looked miserable.Swaying slightly, she laughed,"Hey,you know, beer doesn't help with your problems.Clubbing does though cuz' it's fun."What an icebreaker, people! She smiled slightly,in that crooked, childish fashion,"You have a name, hun?"She asked. |

Fletcher looked up at her, "Erm, I'm Fletcher." he said gently, he wasn't one for conversation at all, he knew this, and he was sure everyone else would figure it out sooner or later. "Drinking... well, it's the only release I can get that is cheap enough to drown any sorrow and misery quickly. Apart from slicing my wrists and watch the blood slowly seep into my dirty, torn clothes, I think beer is better." his low voice showed no sign of enthusiasm, his monotone droned on as he lowered his eyes to the table once again.

What the hell?
This guy needed therapy. And he thought he had it bad.Looking around,Veronica sighed. She needed a sweet escape.Oh right. Not knowing exactly what to say,she picked up her glass and took a long, need for air, drink before polishing it off and laughing nervously. "That's umm...nice.I guess.Vodka's better."She shrugged slightly.Besides, what was the point? This guy didn't care if she would expose herself in front of him or not.Obviously, she wasn't getting a cent out of this man.So what was the point?Obviously,he had issues. Resting her elbows on the table, she smiled slightly, her chin in her palms as she studyed him,"Nice to meet you,Fletcher.I like that name. It's all...unique."She said, obviously not giving up,"So...Why the long face?"She asked. |

Fletcher glanced his brown eyes back at the girl, "I'm always like this..." he said with a small shurg, "Plus, I think telling a stranger my deepest thoughts and feelings would be inapropiate in this situation." he said lowering his eyes once again, downing the rest of his drink. The beer was hot, the bubbles were flat and it tasted like vomit, looking at the empty glass distainly, he got up from his seat.
"I'm getting another, you want?" he asked plainly, no smile, no sign of friendliness. |

Maybe she should get out of this before she hit rock bottom.Right now she should be on the streets, getting some. But no,she was sitting her, talking to a guy who obviously didn't want a thing to do with her.Might aswell get out of his way before she annoyed him anymore.
Of course,a whore couldn't have any friends.A slight looked of disapointment flickered across her face as she looked back at her drink,"Oh,of course.I'm sorry."She mumbled, then looked back at him as he stood up.Looking at her empty glass, she slid it out of the way,"The only thing I want is a nice glass of vodka and a club to go to."She mumbled sarcastically, standing up,"Sorry for wasting your time." Sliding past him,she started towards the door.Still, she had to make a few hundred more dollars tonight.Seriously, buisness was slow. |

Fetcher watched the girl decline any offer that he made, obviously he wasn't her type, he didn't think he was anyone's type. Not that he blamed them, he could only be who he was, even if that was someone who despised the world.
Shrugging and watching the girl place the glass down and walking to the door, he turned around and headed to the bar. He didn't look back, and he didn't make any effort for appear disappointed. Maybe the only reason why he was there was just to talk to someone - it was hard for him to talk, he wasn't very good at linguistics. He waited paiently for someone to come and serve him, just waited.... |

Unsure of whether the male would try to actually stop her and apologize,Veronica looked over her shoulder, back at the bar. There he stood, totally plain and boring, but yet she felt guilty for leaving him alone.Oh well.Looking back, she placed her hand on the door, just as someone placed their hand on her butt.
Twirling around, she glared down at the man,"Hey,watch it."She said.As the man spoke, she could smell all the alcohol on his breath,"Naw hot-stuff,wanna take a ride with me?"He slurred drunkingly, taking her hand. Ugh,again? This is why she rarely came to the bar anymore."Um..No."She pulled away, opening the door. The guy stood up,"Hey you dirty whore. You're supposed to come with me!Ain't that what you're supposed to do.I'll pay."He smiled pervertedly.Veronica hesitated. She /really/ didn't want to go with this guy,"Dirty whore? No way, jackass."She mumbled, hurrying out the door and slamming it behind her. Soon it was flung open, the drunk digging in his wallet,"Come on,right here."He said,"My wife won't mind."Veronica shook her head,"No thanks.Get sober then gimme a honk."She rolled her eyes and headed down the street. What a night. |

Harper had watched the interaction between the man and the prostitue. She felt sorry for those girls, for she had almost ended up like one of them. She had ignored the girl when she had tried to talk, preferring to be alone. She smiled slightly to herself as the encounter didn't work quite as the girl had planned.
She took a sip as the man, Fletcher, stood next to her at the bar. "Curious creatures, aren't they?" she said. "Giving off different signuals and never truely happy with their options." |

Fletcher glanced to the side as the red head woman he noticed earlier, spoke to him. He turned his head to watch what had happened to Veronica, but didn't make any sort of move to help her out. He didn't really care, she didn't really care, if she did... she would have found other means to try and make a living.
As he continued to wait for his drink, he drew in an impatient breath. "Curious creatures, no... just slaves for the money. Never happy with their lives, never happy with the money." he said absently as the drink finally landed in front of him. Tossing some money on the table, he stood still, not moving a head toward the girl which had commented to him. |

"Very Insightful," Harper commented as she drank the last of her beer. She placed the bottle on the bar and signaled that she wanted another. She turned to face the man, examining him. He's...handsome, actually, she thought. SHe held out her hand. "Not sure if you care, but my name's Harper Angel," she introduced.
