As for your fingers Cyclone.....ignore what people say.....it's entirely dependant on how much you play and on the strings you use.......they hurt? Well join the club.

As for chord fingerings.....that's more or less bollocks too.....it depends on how the joints in your fingers work....Salty's A is not mine.....my fingers are big and fat and I find the index finger works ....E 1st is dampened.

Actually sorry Salty.....as a beginner this is trad......I would recommend Guitar Pro tho as an essential purchase/download.

As for guitar gods I think that Cyclone would like someting approachable.....

Neil Young is a start but not for another few months.....

I would recommend typing 'songs with chords a d g' into Google for now.

With A, D & E you can play 95% of all known rock & roll songs biggrin.gif
I'm with Pat though - How you get to those chords as regard fingering is down to how your hands work. Learn where they are & what they sound like, then find out how it is easiest for you to play them.
Once you get those basic shapes in your head, you can apply C-A-G-E-D to run them up the neck as those same shapes will transpose to different chords as you move up the fretboard.
Above all, enjoy.
