"Shoomlah"

C'mon, say it outloud.

You know you wanna!

.:IC:.

You might as well live.

The Basics

Name: Shoomlah Tanubre

Mate: None

Offspring: None

The Politics

Pack: Oh, you’ll see…

Rank: None yet.

Appearance

Shoomlah is a male arctic wolf, and thus has grown to a rather impressive size. He is the clone in appearance of his father and his twin, Boomslang. Tall, lean, legs support a streamlined but muscular body. His coat is a splendid white, like most arctic wolves, and thick, darkening ever so slightly on his face and shoulders. His muzzle is long, and his ears in balance with his form. His expression is often pleasant – Shoomlah’s smile could dazzle most ladies, and he has been known to use this to his advantage form time to time, though not exceedingly often.

Shoomlah’s eyes vary in colour depending in light, but range anywhere from a golden amber to a deep mahogany to a near-black, like jet stone. His ivories are long, sharp, and impressively white.

His paws are large, designed by his native habitat for walking atop snow. His claws are black and rather blunt, though still quite a bit of good in a scuffle, if need be.

Overall, Shoomlah is an impressive wolf. ( Some say he knows it, too.)

Personality

“Outgoing” – gregarious and friendly, concerned with individuals and the outside environment.

“boisterous” – rough and noisy; noisily jolly or rowdy; clamorous; unrestrained

“loyal” - faithful to any leader, party, or cause, or to any person or thing conceived as deserving fidelity

These three words largely describe Shoomlah. He is a level headed wolf when need be and possesses common sense, but is also rather adventurous and friendly, with perhaps too much of a sense of humor. More subdued in his youth, he sometimes slips back into this habit, though at these times, the few words uttered are specifically aimed.

Shoomlah is very rarely angered, but he will stand fiercely loyal to those he cares for, thus unleashing himself against those who threaten them.

An impressive wolf, Shoomlah could easily be considered handsome. His smile is particularly disarming. He is not arrogant, however, and though he does flirt somewhat from time to time, his caring and fiercly loyal nature forbid him to lead anyone on too much. Quick to befriend but slow to trust, those he cares for can consider themselves lucky wolves indeed.

This male also possesses a rather dry sense of humor at times, though this is generally when he is in his worst of moods. On most days, playful and adventurous, though he is also often quiet. This represents his two sides – Outgoing and expressive, like his twin, Boomslang, or the subdued and level-headed thinker, a role he played much more in his youth.

Tale

Shoomlah was born in the upper northern reaches of taiga, where the trees and cold praries dwindle to ice fields. His parents, Jakatta and Mbunda, were the betas of a pack called Midnight Sun. The pack held a wide territory, including part of the annual caribou migration route. Midnight Sun enjoyed peace and prosper.

Eventually, the pack grew to over 30 wolves. The alphas decided to split the pack, as it was becoming harder to adequately govern the large group, and the territory was becoming over hunted. Jakkatta and Mbunda took 15 wolves into a nearby mountain range, forming a new pack. That spring, as the ice thawed from around the mouth of the cave she had chosen as a den, Mbunda gave birth to a litter of 4 thriving pups. First came Whysp, a small, quiet, pretty female with light grey colouration. There was a long pause after the firstborn, then, in quick succession came two identical pups – Shoomlah and Boomslang, both white males. Lastly was born Dazinga, a fiery-spirited black female.

Unlike most litters, the firstborn Whysp was not the dominant pup. She preferred to follow her younger sister Dazinga’s lead. Shoomlah and Boomslang were the inseperable twins – they often played with their sisters, yes, but quite often too they would go off on their own.

Shoomlah and Boom were an odd pair – neither was dominant over the other. Boomslang was outspoken and adventurous, while Shoomlah was more quiet, but also more level headed. Often, Boom would invent an adventure and Shoomlah would undertake the task of making sure they didn’t get themselves lost, hurt, or caught.

Peace followed the new pack, Dawn Ridge, as well- their strong alliance with Midnight Sun was quite enough to stave of most threats from rouge wolves and rival packs. As the pups grew, the pack was in good spirits: the new betas had also given birth to a litter of four pups. Dawn Ridge was thriving.

Sadly, though, all good things must come to and end. As early summer approached, scouts reported sightings of s rouge wolf near the borders, but the creature, a black, half-starved female, seemed to mysteriously evade them each time they got close. The pack began to keep a close eye on all the pups as well as each other. There was a rumor the rouge was diseased, and every wolf knows that a diseased wolf if infinitely more dangerous than a healthy one. Everyone was cautious and took to traveling in pairs or groups.

Not wishing to scare their children, Mbunda and Jakatta simply informed their children they were to stick close to the den and main pack area.

Of course, once you tell a pup to stay in one place, it instantly wants to sneak away from that one place. This is just what Boomslang and Shoomlah did. The young pups, now three months old, snuck away in the late afternoon, during the heat of the day, when most of the pack was sleeping.

Vanja, the rogue, came upon the pups by a small brook. She was, in fact, rabid, and the sunlight and the sight of water, as well as the appearance of pups, set her off. She attacked without warning, instantly going for Boomslang, who was standing on the bank, just having crossed. Shoomlah, still in midcrossing, stood on a rock in the middle of the stream, watching the black she-wolf kill his brother and unable to do anything about it. The rabid female soon turned her attention to Shoomlah, but her hydrophobia was enough that she wouldn’t come into the water. Stranded on the stone, Shoomlah could only wait and watch as Vanja paced up and down the bank, snarling and foaming at the mouth.

Eventually, pack scouts searching for the missing pups happened upon the scene. By this time, sunset was nearing, and Shoomlah was cold, wet, and in shock over his brother. The scouts managed to drive Vanja away, and she later died in the woods. Shoomlah returned with them to the dens.

The pack grieved for a time, but, as it always does, time marched on, and slowly, the pack moved on as well. Shoomlah was the most effected by his brother’s death. His grief was eventually replaced with anger, and then resolve. Shoomlah had a powerful sense of loyalty from then on, as well as a powerful drive to protect those he cared about. He forced himself to become as strong as he could, so that next time, he could protect others.

Healing is a strange thing. Eventually, Shoomlah accepted that Boomslang’s death wasn’t his fault. Over time, he had also become more outspoken, Playful, and quirky. He evolved into an articulate, outspoken, kind wolf. Mbunda and Jakatta were surprised to see some of Boomslang’s traits resurfacing in Shoomlah.

At the age of three, Shoomlah developed the urge to strike out on his own and find a new pack. He left Dawn ridge, traveling south.
