Lineak watched as his adopted mother dipped a paw into the cool water. With one quick movement of her paw a large trout flew from the water and landed on the bankment mere inches from where she stood. A smile escaped from her as she noticed him looking at her. Utilizing only her body language she slowly began teaching the young wolf the art of fishing.

While the prospect of eating a trout, salmon, or whatever other wonderful fish were in the lake was one that Lineak relished, he enjoyed spending time with his adopted mother more. Especially time spent rough housing with her. He pretended to take her lessons in stride and then at the last minute when her eyes were glued to the fish floating past his paws, he leapt at her pushing her face beneath the water! A snarl escaped the large cat as she leapt at her son. . . .

OOC: Just a note - don't expect to roleplay the cougar as well. You can't control a character of another species. Have her leave you (yes, this would be a good time). And BTW, since she's a different species, everyone on this site has rights to "godmode" her, but it isn't really godmoding. If that makes any sense.

Under normal circumstances the romp would have carried on for some time before either party was tired or bored. However, the cougar spent little time playing with the young wolf. Instead she roughly hit him in the side of his head with her paws time and time again. When Lineak brought his eyes up to look at her she once again began showing him how to fish.

Lineak looked at the only mother he had ever known and knew instinctively that something was dreadfully wrong. She was being far too serious and her body language showed she was somewhat withdrawn. He gazed at her for long, drawn out minutes before directing his gaze to the task she was attempting to teach him. After several embarrasing attempts he was able to pull one fish free from the water, after several hours he was able to master the art. Once he became proficient at pulling fish from the water he began to fish with wild abandon. . . .

It was only after several more hours that he realized his mother had slipped away. He tried searching for her scent but stopped when he realized she had taken to the trees and vanished. A long, low, mournful howl escaped as he made his way slowly back towards the lake.

OOC: VERY nicely done! I'm nowhere near as creative as that...

A scarred gray male heard the forlorn call, and lifted his head in the direction of the sound, not far off. He stood and stretched, powerful muscles rippling under his skin, and tore off through the forest until he stood near the Bloodlake. He could see a sad little pup, who he assumed must have given the howl.

The wolf looked at him for a few moments - more through him than at him, as is the way of wolves - before dipping his head in greeting and acknowlegement. He kept his eyes on the pup the entire time. After moment had passed, he walked calmly up to the pup and lay down next to him, averting his gaze and trying to be comforting simply by being there. He managed to introduce himself.

"I'm Luro," he said quietly. "Is there anything I can do for you?"

The wolf's appearance shocked Lineak to the core. In all of his short life he had yet to see another wolf. Here, now, after losing his mother what was the reason for the creature to be bere?

It was not overtly hostile, instead, if Lineak read the body language correctly, it seemed somewhat sympathetic. Perhaps it was even a bit friendly. The warm body laying down next to him was somewhat comforting, although nowhere near as comforting as his adopted mother's would have been at the moment. . . .

Something that sounded vaguely like speach came from the animal beside him and Lineak paused, hoping to hear it again. He swore that he had heard sounds similar to it before, although he wasn't sure where. His young mind worked frantically attempting to piece together where he could have possibly heard the sounds eminating from the strange creature beside him.

((Raised by the cougar he shouldn't have developed wolf speach just yet. I'm going to make him have to work to learn it. Hope you don't mind))

OOC: YAY, YOU REALIZED IT!!! *hugs* I didn't want to make you not know wolf speech, but I was sort of hoping you wouldn't. Yay! You are one of the few people I've ever met who realized stuff like that. I'm so happy! Of course I don't mind.
-- How exactly is he going to learn it? I'll try and help him as best I can.

For an instant, Luro was utterly confused. Then he realized that the young pup seemed to have actually liked the cougar, perhaps befriended it. Or perhaps it had raised him.... That would account for not understanding him. Well, then, he would try and help the little one, Luro resolved.

"Pup," he said calmly, nudging Lineak gently, trying to show him that was what he was. A pup. He tried not to be rough... if anything, he would have wanted to lick him, just to be friendly, but Luro wondered if it would do more harm than good.

"Wolf," he said. "Wolves, you and I." He gave what was his own kind of a laugh, somewhere between a grunt and a pant, to show he wasn't going to hurt him. He decided that licking the pup wouldn't be horrible, and so Luro did. "See?"

It occured to Luro that the abandoned pup would need to know more than that. He rose, and caught a fish from the water. He killed it quietly, and brought it over to Lineak. "Fish," he said. "It's a fish. Eat." Luro licked it. "Eat the fish."

((ooc I think you're going about it the best way you can. I think it's just repeating what things are time and time again before he'll be able to grasp the meaning. In the meantime he'll try to interrpret what you mean by reading your body language.))

The sounds coming from the creature continued to sound famliar and Lineak knew deep down that there must be some way that he could possibly remember where he had heard them before. When the wolf licked him he paused for a moment reflecting on the licks that his adopted mother had often given him. This lick was not the same, it wasn't a cleansing lick, nor was it a lick of adoration, perhaps friendship?

As the wolf moved down to the water Lineak kept his eye on it watching with interest as it caught a fish and brought it up to him. Little did he know that fishing was what had gotten him into this mess in the first place. He didn't want to lose a mother, aquire a friend of sorts, and then lose the friend all within a days time!

Luro licked him again, trying to be friendly and not rush things. "Fish," he said again, nudging and licking the fish on the ground. "Fish. Fish... eat." He nibbled on the fish's tail, trying to get the pup to eat.

OOC: Sorry for a crappy little post, but not much to write for me.

OOC - I can delete this if you want

Blade bounded down the trail to the River. She had followed the scent of her Father, Luro and it had lead her here. Tilting her dial she noticed a strange pup and Luro fishing together. Causciously advancing, Blade barked out a little greeting. The thought crossed her mind. Perhaps she had a brother now to play with. But something wasn't quite.. right about him. He looked normal, he just acted funny nor had he uttered a word yet.

"Hi Daddy," Blade yipped with a grin and then turned her eyes to the attention of the pup. "I'm Blade, what's your name?" Blade asked before her Father could explain or stop her from speaking. Dark eyes focussed, her pretty little face in a sweet grin.

Ever since she had been adopted by Luro, her heart had softened and her mind had unravelled from it's twisted prison. She had taken on the art of kindness and was experimenting the new approach extensively. The results were most pleasing, she had the kindness returned. Blade still and forever would have that sinister side, that darkening in her soul that tainted her but it was an important part of her. It kept her allert and resistive of gullability.

Luro half-smiled a greeting to Blade before casting an apologetic look in Lineak's direction. He gave the pup a friendly lick and gestured to Blade with his paw - "Blade," he said to Lineak, nuzzling her, hoping that the strange wolf pup would understand.

Luro took blade aside. "Blade," he said quietly. "This pup is very... different, an outsider. He was raised by a cougar as far as I can gather - I saw the cat creeping off away from the river - and hasn't learned wolf-speech from his adopted mother. He has to learn it, somehow. Okay?"

The wolf turned back to Lineak, who still hadn't eaten the fish. "Eat," he said, nibbling at it. "Fish. Eat... the... fish." Luro looked up at the pup imploringly, pawing at the fish.

Blade tilted her head. This certainly was a strange pup. Being raised by a cougar was not something every pup did. She nodded in understanding to her Father. She wondered how it must be to have your own kind speaking a strange language.
She watched him quizically, eyes sinking over the features of the young male. Blade realized that he must have been abandoned just like she.. Suddenly she felt so much more sympathetic and willing to aid him in his learnings of becoming a fluent speaker of the lupin language.

OOC: Deleted those last posts because Suka didn't realize I didn't lead the Light pack, which was her point for being there, so that post had no meaning. So your reply had no meaning. So I figured, oh well, might as well trash 'em. I would post now but there's not really much to say.
