i guess the main point is have fun at what you are doing, feel good about what you have done.
everyone is friendly, besides kendo, we go on social events like bbq, beach, bushwalking, partying haha you get the gist

so yeh come down for a talk haha

hey,
i'm pretty new here, so i got a question to ask.
if we join, do we have to pay to get the wooden swords? or do we get it free together with our participation
if we pay, how much would it cost?

Hi NtroBacter,

If you join, you are able to borrow club owned shinai for the beginners course, but you are advised to purchase your own once you come to the decision of continuing with Kendo. They are about $35 each for the basic ones and get more expensive depending on the supplier and type you want to get.

The club fees that you pay goes towards hall hire and other club running costs and events.

If you would like to join, and you are a USYD student, please drop by the USYD Kendo Club Stall on O-Week, or come down to our training sessions and talk to Ervin.

i heard that the meetings/practices are on
Monday 3-5pm
Friday 4-6pm
Saturday 12-2pm

Do I have to go for all of them? Unfortunately, i have some classes that clash with the Monday and Friday ones.. i have class on monday till 4pm, and on friday, i have something on at 5.30pm..
Is it possible to come later on monday and leave earlier on friday? hmmmm... is it ADVISABLE to do that??
GYAH, i'm so busy!

It's obviously best to attend as many as you can, but if you can only make it to Saturdays, you can only make it to Saturdays.

It is not really advisable to leave early, but if you have to, you have to. The beginners course runs for about 8 weeks from memory, and if you miss sessions, you will need to talk to people to find out what you have missed and catch up.

On Mondays if you have class until 4pm and can get down to HK as soon as possible, you can still join in, and on Fridays if you have something at 5:30pm (which is an odd time since most classes are on the hour??) then you should come, but please tell whoever is leading that day that you need to leave early at the start of the session. An hour and a half is still a lot of time for beginners to learn in.

I would say give it a try, and worse case scenario, you will just come on Saturdays, and catch up with some help and self training at home.
