Vamps and Humans, July '09

Since we're missing a few questions of the month, I figured I'd come start one.

The question is: Do you think the vampires should "come out of the closet"?

I've been reading a few other vampires series latley and I've become pretty fond of the House of Night series. In the series, vampires and humans live together, humans being fully aware of the vampires existance.
Naturally, there would be alot of prejudice against them from some people, and of course not all vampires are as human-friendly as the Cullens.
So do you think it would be beneficial to announce their existence so they no long have to live in secrecy or would it be better to stay hidden?

i think it would be pretty cool if vamps were real and came out of the coffin,i would imagine it to be like something like true blood,where synthetic blood is available and vamps go mainstream and mix with humans,they are some bad vamps who still drink from humans ,but no race is perfect ,humans have been taken human lives for centuries.

Yeah, I think it'd be nice if they did come out, but I bet alot of people wouldn't and we'd end up with vamps and humans attacking each other. (Not that the humans would stand a chance against Twilight vamps )

i hope they would be a few vampires like alice so i could make friends with her and go shopping,id love to go shopping with alice

I think it would be cool too, but like you've both said there would be groups who wouldn't think that and there would be attacks etc. (ie Fellowship of The Sun type organisations)

I think it would totally be possible for vamps and humans to get along and that there would be no shortage of 'donors' if vamps did come out of the coffin and were mainstreaming. And i agree with Kym, some humans can be as reckless and unfeeling as vampires are portrayed and we as a race have killed a lot of people!!

vampires in society would be just like etnic minorities that have immigrated here ,some would accept them and get on with they own lives others would commit hate crimes against them ,so i dont think vampires coming out would bother people that much as long as they didnt kill anyone,and at least vampires only kill for survival,(which,like in true blood they wouldnt need to do if synthetic blood and donars were available) unlike humans who just seem to kill for they own twisted pleasure and sense of control.

totally agree Ice Maiden. I think vampires would fit in well, it's the humans who are too judging and don't accept different types of people

maybe humans would think twice before messing with vampires,knowing that a vamp would beat us in a fight and then bite us.

I think that would be awesome! It's inevitable that there would be a few vampires that run amock, but I think most vampires would be friendly and glad that they no longer have to hide their secret to the world. They wouldn't be victimised either, because vampires can kick arse!

yeah,vampires coming out might cut down on gangs hanging about on street corners till all times of the morning ,the vamps would hopefully take over and scare them off,the kids couldnt give them any grief as like you said ,the vamps would kick ass!!

Everyone has already said this but you would LOVE True Blood. It's exactly that, vampires have come out and told everyone that they exist and it's pretty much half the people don't mind but the other half hate them and are vampire -predigest!

In light of how many people love the films and books and tv shows that are out now about vampires I dont think thaey could pick a better time to come out of hiding if they did exist!!!

Most people would be scared, some people wouldnt care. i think there would be a lot of people who wouldn't mind too much though. I wonder if real vampires would be as good looking as Edward!!

if vampires came out the closet raoul i would try my hardest to hunt down an edward for myself and if you look on the unrelated section on here you will find a thread about trueblood on there where me and a few others discuss true blood ,i love it just downloading episode 11 season 2 now cant wait to watch it ,be sure to have a look on there and join in on our true blood discussions

I think it'd start something awful! My paper today was full of potential terrorist plots everywhere, can you imagine what would happen if Vampires came out of the closet?!!!! I've watched a bit of true blood but i prefer the idea in twilight that they could just drink animal blood!
I also just like secrets!
