I can't be the only one here who is getting excited/anxious about the upcoming sure to be hit for the Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

It has already been released in Japan, and is due in the U.S. on March 9th (sorry Europe, to my knowledge the earliest time is roughly June or July) and is probably the most anticipated game on the Wii so far.

If any of you are looking forward to this as much as I am, I'm sure you'll find this thread. I'd like this to be a general discussion thread about the game to talk about whatever you'd like, ask questions you hope to be answered or anything else. Perhaps, even use it help set up matches online with Wii friend codes (if that is permitted).

Just one thing, please try not to spoil anything special for other members unless they do not mind it. If you wish to discuss secret information I ask you do so in a PM amongst yourselves.

Now, for me this game is going to be HUGE! I'm quite confident in my own smashing skills, and look forward to the wi-fi battles. A little information about the characters I use and am interested in using are as follows;
Veterans:Link, Samus, Fox and Zelda/Sheik.
Newcomers:Pokemon Trainer, Ike, Pit and Zero Suit Samus.

I can't wait! I've had it reserved since October. I've been looking at the updates every day since they started being consistant. As for characters I'm exited for, I want to try all of the newcomers! Meta-Knight and Snake above all though! Snake's final smash looks so cool!

I am of course going to try every last character, the ones I listed are simply the ones I plan to get exceptional with. Who knows, I may end up liking someone else I did not list, so it is by no means my final "team".

Snake's final smash does indeed look good! I think he has one of the better ones actually, since he can potentially kill a player more than one time with it (if you're really good and/or lucky).
I am glad to see Sonic in the game, though mostly because of what a gaming icon he is. He is impressive in the speed department (doi) but for some reason I don't see myself using him beyond a random urge ^^; nothing against him or his fans, he just doesn't seem like my type of character... and I use Fox.

Ike is someone I'm nearly dying to try out... He is like everything Roy was meant to be, but failed at it. Roy was good, but Ike is just so much better. His air attacks actually seem to be effective and he's just cooler in general if you ask me. He may be slower than Roy (even rivaling Ganondorf with some attacks) but his power is obnoxious.

Once we both have the game and get comfortable with the new gameplay and characters, I'd like to have a friendly match against you, Sage.

I'll probably be best with Samus again. She was my favorite character in Melee because she was well rounded. Good speed, range, attack, ect.

I'm glad to see Sonic too, but I think they had to add too many weird things in to be considered attacks. He really only has that jump as an attack. So I'm eger to see how all of the different additions flow during gameplay.

Ike isn't that high on my list. I've seen Fire Emblem, so I know his origins, but Marth and Roy were my two worst characters in melee. No matter how much I tried, I couldn't get my skill with those two off of the ground. If I trained with other characters, I could quickly pick up on strategies. I even made Peach my second best. But Marth and Roy failed in my hands.

A friendly match would be great! The people I played melee with don't seem so big on Brawl, so I'll need someone friendly to play with.

That would be fine. A lot of my friends have also shown little interest in Brawl. I have my brother who is perhaps my most challenging opponent in my immediate area (since we train together) but it's always nice to face someone new.

Ike may be from Fire Emblem like Marth and Roy, but from videos I have watched, his attack style is completely different. He is only the new Roy in the sense that he is the new strong F.E. character. The only similarity he seems to have is that his standard special move can charge up and he has a counter (it seems to be a staple for FE characters).

I never did get very good with Peach, but one of my friends love to use her, so I know how good she can be when used right. Samus was my third best in Melee and for the same reasons that you stated. My best two were Link and Fox, in that order. Fox seems to have been toned down a tad for Brawl, but I still see myself using him.
