Well you could add a forum rescource part to the forums I had to do that to make sure the forum wouldn't die and I know a lot of forums that have them plus when you get lots of members you can find more people that want to join because of what the forum about because it be better know.

people can advertise and sort of like an affiliate deal.You could also add other things like post exchange and member exchange too if you wanted too.
