Container Gardening

I live out in the country ,but for some reason nothing will grow here.
So I bought some of the huge containers at dollar general and have planted green beans, peas, green peppers, herbs, and lima beans .
They are going good!!

I have two little picky girls when it comes to vegetables, so we "borrowed" a small space at the end of grandma's garden. I let the girls pick out five different packages of vegetable seeds (they were five for a dollar at big lot's), they could be any vegetables they wanted...but the deal is...they have to eat what they plant. We've been walking the few blocks to grandma's house a couple times a week and they "tend" their garden. Their learning responsability, a little botany lesson from time to time and are very excited to start harvesting and eating what they've grown. The first growth of spinach will be ready to pick in about a week so we went online and found some fresh spinach salad recipies to make.

That is such a great way to teach kids !! My beans are doing great and my herbs are just starting.
