They wanted to respect the Gods, the King thought that it was a trap and the father (or someone influential) said that they should respect the Gods and put it in the temple.

So they did, of course this is another example about how

Religion > Safety.

However I probably have the majority of the story wrong because I wasn't paying attention in school.

Religion itself doesn't really cause our problems, it's the extremists who take it too far that do. It was the "major driving force" behind the Crusades, the Holocaust, violence in the Middle East, guys who wave around signs saying "GOD HATES FAGS", the Roman Empire's massacres, etc.

And I could've sworn that the Nazi's were mostly atheists but I could be wrong. Maybe key or xeon could correct me --------------------
