I know how hard it is to ignore them when they're spreading "like cancer", but they'll gradually annoy you less if you just let them be. I used to shy away from them too, until I eventually gave the show a chance (AND LOOK AT ME NOW, MA). Can't warm up to that omnipresent Homestuck thing though. ಠ_ಠ

Thank goodness for that much at least.

I started reading HS from the beginning, but as it went on, the author went out of his way to

1. Make it harder to read (pesterchum)
2. Make the harder to read parts harder to read (troll speaking)
3. Make the harder to read parts more common (trolls were the main characters for a while)
4. Dont go deeper into the story, just make the story wider and wider
5. Have an arrogent attitude.
6. Cater to the crazy forum fans.

Homestuck fans probably annoy me more than bronies, because although less common, they are much much worse.

Bronies are still annoying too though. Im pretty sure half of them wouldnt like the show if it wasn't a meme.

I remember watching the first MLP episodes back when they first came out and thinking "WHY DO I LIKE THIS SO MUCH"

...Still hooked. Yeah.

Can't say I dislike Homestuck though, hah. Even though the Pesterlogs are painful to read sometimes.

I can't get into Homestuck. I've tried and tried, but it just doesn't interest me like I want it to.

It makes me sad and lonely because all the guys at BWA love it so much. D:

I haven't personally met any truly obnoxious Homestuck fans, though. I'm just clueless as to what people see in it.

As for being a brony, well...One of the reasons why I initially resisted was because I thought the whole fandom was just some sort of brony bandwagon that would die eventually. I didn't want to watch a little girls' cartoon simply because it had "meme potential". Then one of my IRL friends tried to push it onto me...He constantly brought it up and pestered me. His attempts to "convert" me, however thankful for them I am now, are the reason why I refuse to force the show onto anyone like some sort of pony missionary. Anyway, I eventually caved when my other friend decided that he'd try it with me.
So the two of us watched a few episodes on a crappy Saturday morning, and...umm...I dunno, something just clicked. The Flash art style, the fleshed-out and lovable characters, etc. I think that having a friend to watch it with made it a lot easier. I might've felt lame if I was watching ponies alone in my basement, but having somebody to bear it with me made it feel almost normal. I don't remember who admitted first that they genuinely enjoyed it...
The community is more important to me than the show itself, though. With the exception of a few oddballs and perverts, it's generally just a really friendly, talented, and inspirational group. That's where the brony pride comes from.

All of that being said, I don't mind that you hate bronies. Just explaining my reasoning.

Also, the people on the TV Tropes are the worst.

Now that I think about it, I think too many fandoms are the worst.

Lost my car key today and had to look all over the school for it, backtracking to everywhere I had been during the day...Eventually gave up and had my mom drop off a spare key. As soon as I got into my car, I opened the glove compartment to get my FM transmitter and BAM, key flies out and right into my lap when I tug the transmitter's cord. Cue Nelson laugh from my friend in the passenger seat.
