Title: New Empire Army Book
Description: What do you think of it?

Got hold of the new army book on Saturday. So far I really like what I see.
The hold the line rule for Generals and Captains is pretty cool and I think it was high time Witch Hunters made it into the book, they just ooze character.
What are other folks thoughts?
Is it me or have Steam Tanks been toned down somewhat?

Never take Stank so no probs there. It's actually more reliable, but saw a dwarf cannon duo essentially end it's involvement after the first turn. (wounding on 2's, d6 wounds per cannon)
I like the synergy of it and the new prayers with detachment rules are awesome.
Demigryphs are good but I won't use them initially.
Got myself a war altar, witch hunter and may get a luminark next month.
Overall pleased, just hard fitting the normal
Guys in. Plus I need some militia box sets and state troops.
Anyone got any free?! Lol

Plus found it hard with characters and units to fit in good artillery battery. Want to run a hellblaster and a great cannon, but then I can't fit in a luminark.

Oddly enough I probably do, I know I've got a load of excess Mordheim (Free Company) sprues at least anyway, I might be able to do a deal if I can figure out what if any really are 'surplus to requirements'...

Expect six demigryph knights and all the wagons of the Empire, plus maybe a big flappy thing to appear on a battlefield near you soon. I bought one of each of the plastic boxes, a witch hunter and a second box of demigryphs and the lumach zappy wagon thingy so that I can field both.
Taken as rare choices together with a Stank it nicely fills that out to 500pts...
Now, how do I fill out the 500pts of core I need using just cavalry?...
Luckily I happen to have around twenty knights in various stages of painting already, yay!

Been playing round with a few things. Actually ended up with less magic but a nice balance I feel.

I've noticed that I'm stuck between a luminary and a cannon...str 10 and str 8 aren't too different, and the flaming plus multi wound plus other parts actually makes me feel sorry for the cannon.
It's really clear that they have decided to make gun lines so expensive - poor that they're not worth anymore -
Cannons /mortars more expensive (mortars also str 2)
Engineers nominating a machine BEFORE the roll of artillery dice (so take with hellblaster)
Hangunners / crossbows 9points a model
hellstorm better rules but str 3.
Synergy is key is all I can say!

I'm very tempted to post my 2K list, nothing has a movement less than 8, well before barding is taken into account... ;)
Only 31 models in the army as well for that matter...

Played a game with the new book. Things I noticed.
Shadow + artillery = still good
Hellblaster and a ME = very reliable
New prayers - great in many ways
Detachment rules - amazingly useful
The list I took was based around things working together.
Played against a VC player (another 8th book). Game was close. Lost it due to bad match ups and a decisive magic phase in his turn 5. Realistically it wasn't so bad, quite close until the end. Looking forward to finalising a build that work well for me.

So having that it's been a month since release does anyone have anything else to add about the new empire rules?

Still haven't played a game yet... :(

I promise I will be down soon to face off against them. Just been so busy with work over the weekends!
