En Route to Ziost

Sethandra sat quietly in the second seat in the cockpit of Draconis’ ship staring out the forward view port at the stars as they stretched past. It was a bold move, to leave her organization without notice for this unknown destiny. She looked at Draconis. His pale skin and tattoos seemed to reveal nothing about the man, but concealed everything. The dark power that he had demonstrated was alluring, however strangely absent again. Sethandra wanted to know more about this power.

Returning her gaze to the view port, she reviewed the events in the docking bay. “Come with me, now that we are done with this brutal interview let us talk now.” How she’d slowly risen to one knee and watched him walk up the boarding ramp, her throat burning like a wildfire. How she’d followed him up the ramp, not asking where they were going or any other details. She found that she did not care about Starfire anymore. The petty organization meant nothing compared to the power this man could lead her to.

Manticore & Ara

Manticore chuckled mildly at Ara's comment of him force-feeding anyone who tried to poison his food. It was a visually amusing imagery, mainly because it was not far from the truth, though Manticore imagined the business end of his lightsaber involved somewhere in there.

After a moment, Ara caught Manticore's attention with another one of her intriguing comments. She seemed to have figured out his interest in such things, but only because of the time they shared in each other's company. Other than his Master, the blood red zabrak spent very little time with others, except his victims, which of course, only got to know 'one' side of him, and that for a very brief time.

"You mentioned a debt...this may fall on both sides of it. I am going to have to teach you how to shield better." Ara said with a shrug. "Your mental discipline feels strong enough, but you tend to project things without realising. Please be assured, it is only because I've trained long in such matters that I can pick things up from you. I doubt the others could. And I don't specifically try to, but keeping my mind receptive to projections is a habit that's saved my life in the past. I hope this does not discomfit you."

Manticore gave Ara a grin as he recalled his mental images of her. He wonder if she'd picked them up and if they were the catalyst for her offer. Either way, he was very interested what she had to teach.

"I don't particularly like having my mind read, and if you could teach me to shield better, that would work to both our advantage, as you've hinted."

Manticore's manner had been easy enough, even a s he grew a bit pensive now.

"Perhaps you can teach me how to have only the thoughts I wish to be picked up at the forefront of my mind, rather than the ones I wish to keep secret. If there's no way to avoid having my mind read, at least the 'reader' would see what I wish them, or something to that effect. Sorry If my ideas may seem absurd or fanciful, this is obviously not my area of expertise, so I will leave it to you to tell me what is or is not possible."

Manticore smiled at Ara then took a step closer, then seemed to catch himself and only shifted his weight as he stood in place. After clearing his throat, he glanced around the spartan room looking for a chair he could sit in.

It was getting a bit warm and sitting might help to cool off.

Maybe.

Draconis----En Route to Ziost

Draconis sat, eyes close calm and thinking... meditating on several things at hand, as Sethandra made her way into the cockpit and sat in the open co-pilot chair and as they approached the planet Draconis felt now was a ripe time to divulge certain things to the hopeful. She had something very precious Draconis wished to nurture and though it was secondary to her possible turning and devotion to what she was about to be exposed to, it still remained an additional asset that could be nurtured and used immensely.

You are here now... and I find there is no sense mincing words over why you chose this.. suffice to say you have felt the lure of something. The same lure everyone feels. The same one I felt at one time and though perhaps you cannot link it to anything in your knowledge just yet, your eyes will see it eventually. And though this will not be the defining moment for you, think of it as that last step to bringing you up to the precipice but not sending you over.

There is time for that later.

Draconis gave a slight grin, for as much confidence and feeling as he gave this being he knew as always certain things must be done and only one thing could bring about the realization that he wanted things to be built upon. And anyones skills power, talent what have you were secondary to the core which drove them, which drove the darkside and the Sith.

Draconis stared forward not ignoring Sethandra but focusing on her intently... on her feelings and her mood. And thus for the first time since meeting her aside from the landing pad she would be able to sense, if she was as attuned as he thought, a real sense of the extent of his powers and perception as Draconis delved deep into her emotions intimately feeling her out and diving deep into her mind and emotions. No longer masking or hiding his presence to throw her off anymore. Draconis' voice was calm and gentle, inviting in conversation opening the air for true thoughts to be spoken.

"Before we land I have two tasks for you. First you are a powerful woman with influence in an organization which could be of a great asset to us. You need to find a way to make sure that your connection is not totally severed. A plan to effectively make sure that if you walked back into the dominion of Starfire you could pick up where you left off.

...I know... easier than it sounds, however if we are to use this opportunity to its maximum usefulness we need to figure out such a way to accomplish this.

...of course this does not have to be accomplished over night, but as you yourself said earlier... your communications must be kept up until you at least terminate the spread of information and re-establish a link to your organization which hopefully eliminates any confusion and speculation on your where bouts and disappearance."

Draconis hand just given a tall order, if she could accomplish such it would show her resourcefulness and adaptability. And give them a real chance at gaining a large first stake in the criminal world. Ziost was not far, he could feel it through the force without referencing the nav computer to give them a galactic fix on their location.

"Second thing is this... think of the one thing you wanted to change in your life and when we land tell me. These are the two things I ask of you right now."

Draconis went silent for a moment, ending the conversation though allowing the mood in the room to stay calm inviting Sethandra to speak if she wished to ask anything of him.

Ara nodded, a smile appearing on her face. Indeed, Manticore was sharper in ways of strategy than one would initially think him, given the berserker persona he presented. "True...Misinformation is often better to offer than no information at all. It is possible, very much so." She paused, and walked into the next room, first holding up a hand to indicate she'd be back. She returned from the place where she'd left her clothes, dragging a chair behind her. "Used it to reach the cupboards," she commented dryly. Leaving it against the wall, she walked over and sat on her bed, having incidentally proved once again why Manticore needed to advance his shielding abilities...though it hadn't been hard to work out, given his expression and the way he'd looked around the room.

She looked at him seriously. "You're strong in the Force, but please realise; this will take time. I've spent all my life refining my mental abilities, on a planet full of others who can also pick up thoughts. I'm sure you'll make progress efficiently, but you are not going to develop a seamless thoughtshield overnight. We're both going to have to put a lot of effort into this. But it will be worth it in the end."

The slender Umbaran shrugged. "Now to shock you to death by being honest in a matter that needs to be spoken of," she began, a hint of humour in the dry voice. "I marked you in our duel by anticipating. If you had used your full strength in an all-out attack, I'd have been in serious trouble. Physical combat is not my strongest point," Ara said bluntly. "And that is where I'll likely need your help." It was simply said, with obvious meaning. Alliances ran both ways; she was better with telepathic matters, Manticore was quite obviously stronger on the physical level.

Oh, neither of them was entirely unbalanced, talent-wise; Manticore was clever, good with tactics, and Ara utilised speed and agility where her body would not permit her to develop immense strength. But the facts remained, that each of them had an advantage in one area over the other. In Ara's mind, it made sense to combine their advantages, so that they could both advance themselves among the Sith.

Sethandra – En Route to Ziost

Sethandra contemplated the tasks that Draconis had laid out for her. The first would be relatively easy. Sethandra had a very trusted human Lieutenant by the name of Deckard whom she had known for a considerable portion of her lifetime. Deckard had been an orphaned boy on Corellia that Sethandra had met while exploring the Blue Sector and befriended. As young teens they formed a fairly strong friendship enough that Sethandra trusted Deckard with some of the more delicate surveillance situations that only a male could undertake.

Sethandra reckoned that she could tell Deckard that she was on to a very important lead, something that required her to go under deep cover, complete non-contact for an undetermined period of time. She trusted Deckard to uphold her vision of Starfire and maintain the organization on even keel while she was undergoing training and education. He had done so on other occasions for her without incident so she had no reason to think this occasion would be any different.

The second task was something Sethandra needed no time to pinpoint. If there was one thing that Sethandra wanted very much was to catch the people who had destroyed her parent’s legacies and presumably taken their lives. These people had to pay.

She said quietly “Starfire will continue in my absence, this is guaranteed. When we have need of it, it will be there and ready for use.” She fixed Draconis with her cold pale blue eyes. “As for your second request, I have no need to consider the answer as I have always known. The organization that reduced my family to ruin needs to be sought out and utterly destroyed.”

Draconis----Ziost

The stars outside the cockpit lurched back into real time as they descended out of hyperspace. The lush world of Ziost was large in the view of the cockpit and it was not long before they had entered the planets atmosphere. Draconis could feel the surge as they were embraced by the power emanating from the world, no doubt Sethandra felt it as well. This place called to darksiders. Draconis listened to the womans answers regarding the criminal organization, and her wish. Which was her request to gain the tools necessary to seek and destroy a haunting memory of her past. Sethandra was smart and eager indeed a powerful candidate. The shuttle they were in almost flew itself as it homed into coordinates located within the main Sith complex and was remotely piloted in towards its landing destination. Draconis rose and began to make his way through the cockpit door and back to the rear ramp for exit, but not before the view of the grand temple and Citadel complex came into view from the air. The massive ancient structures dwarfed even many of the building standards and practices of the modern age. It was somewhat awe inspiring a view. And thus Draconis had dedicated much of his resources, personal and manpower via his small military force and slave compliment to restructuring as well as updating as much as possible. A task that could take years if not longer, but one worth the price and cause to harbor a new era for this forgotten Sith capital world.

It was pleasing to be setting down at home, Draconis briefly thought on the acolytes and their training in his absence. The shuttle touched down with a familiar lurch and mild impact from the suspension adjusting. The ramp opened with a hiss of gas pressure escaping as the mechanism opened. They had landed in not the main hanger but a side hanger within the Citadel which was not far from Draconis quarters. The hanger was occupied by only a single tech and a few droids going about their duties. Draconis waited for Sethandra to come up next to him to exit with him.
