Nim There was a shower of sparks, as Manticore's blade hit her weapon, and she hissed under the assault. But she held firm. She used her massively stocky body, and the fact that she had been brought up and trained in a high gravity world to her advantage. And Nim could feel the darkside as the Zabrak redoubled his efforts. This fight was definately teaching her a few facts as well. Slipery Zabrack, she thought, as he back flipped over and away from her weapon, landing in a low crouch. Again, her kick had failed. Now it was Nim's turned to be suprised for the Zabrak ignited the second end of his Saberstaff, releasing it's vermillion blade. In a swift motion, Manticore separated the two ends of his weapon, which meant he now held two lightsabers. Nim stepped back, and twirled her weapon, as the dual lightsabers twirled furiously in his hands, and without wasting a moment, Manticore launched himself at his opponent. Both weapons carved a deadly arc of red light as he twirled them in the known figure eight pattern. The dizzying effect of the flurry was meant to confound and distract. Manticore came at his opponent, both blades in motion, but he alternated their purpose as he traversed the air between them. One weapon would in effect parry any defense his opponent mounted against him, while the other countered with a diagonal slash to the mid-section of the body and hopefully the arms. Nim immedately brought up her own weapon, and in a backhand spin, sliced a wicked arc, designed to keep him out of lightsaber range. But she did not stop there, she rolled, moving to try and hit him with the staff part of her weapon, as it spun on the backside rotation. Fangs snarled in a deep and dangerious growl, as his sweeping slah to the medsection caught her this time catching a bit more than fur. But this time, she was also close enough to trade a viscious kick, using both feet this time, as she continued to roll out of his weapons reach. A rather nasty welt or gash was developing under a patch of skin, now furless. Nim snarled in fury, as she backed up, now wary of the twin sabers. She would have to move her sythe faster, to counteract his sabers. OR... Nim smiled, as she backed up, ignoring the pain. Pain ment she was still alive. She wondered who this battle was being judge in an oft thought, before she narrowed her eyes, and began twirling her staff once more. TAG:Manticore |

Rilwen approached her opponent warily, igniting her lightsabers as she did so. The usual pair. One green-bladed, one red-bladed. Being fond of symbolism, she had retained them as the preferred pair, even if most people remained ignorant of her intent. No matter. It was enough that she knew, and could be privately amused or thoughtful at what she'd done. The small Assassin darted in, feinting towards Kat'a's left shoulder, but retracting her blade once more to use for defense, even as she struck out at Kat'a's leg with her other saber. Kat'a only had one, so the feint might draw her off, which would allow the other blow to land. And even if it didn't...the duel had been started, which was the main point. Tag: Kat'a |

Manticore
Sith Tournament The blood red zabrak was in mid-leap, attacking with a furious flurry as he bridged the distance between himself and his opponent. The shadow responded to his attack with a back handed slice, which he saw coming and parried. Nimbly his opponet rolled away, trying to stay out of his range, but Manticore chased after the shadow, not intending on giving up his offensive. Another defensive attack from his opponent forced him to parry once again, as they vied for the upper hand. Then finally, Manticore saw his lightsaber trace a line of incandesence, and was rewarded by a dangerous growl from his opponet, which he interpreted as a scored hit. But his elation was far too short lived as he was struck suddenly in the chest! Manticore went flying backwards and instantly realized what happened, even as he righted his trajectory and controlled his landing into a crouched position once again. Manticore snarled as he tried to control his frustration and building rage. It was easier for him to track and guesstimate his opponents weapon and arms, but not his feet. The blood red zabrak gave a snort! Now he'd have to watch out for invisible kicks. Well, at least he could gauge the range, more or less, assuming that his opponet was shaped mostly like a humanoid. Manticore's eyes saw the Saber-scythe moving back somewhat, which meant his opponet was making some room between them. It seemed the dual lightsabers were a more effective way to combat the Saber-scythe....to a point. Still focused and still very much in the fight, Manticore twirled his lighstabers again, but this time he did not launch himself at his opponet. Repeating the same attack pattern would be folly. "Let's go again...." he said in a dangerous tone, as he invited his opponet to rejoin their little contest of arms. Tag: NIM |

Nim - Tournament Manticore went flying backwards, which made Nim grunt, even after she concentrated for a moment. He had scored a hit, something not many did. She watched him as he righted his trajectory and controlled his landing into a crouched position once again. He snarled. Nim showed fangs. Nim quickly realized what she was up against. Yes, this one used brains over muscles. As she twirled he Saber-scythe in thought, she watched him twirl his lightsabers also. "Let's go again...." he said in a dangerous tone, inviting her to rejoin their little contest of arms. Now how could she say no, after all, he asked so nicely. "Yes." she replied, as she moved around him. She knew he was not the type to leave an opening for her. This time, she would do something...diffrent. Nim picked up her sythe, and began to swing it around her once more, as she moved in, holding it about midsection..not that he could tell. And as she got within striking range, she brough her sythe downwards, in a direct overhead chop. She knew she had to worry about his twin sabers. Just as she got to the point of impact, she turned off the saber, and suddenly brought up the lower end quickly, to deliver a viscious uppercut type blow. As soon as that end came up to about chin level, she switched directions once more, bringing in the bussiness end of the blade towards the shoulders, as at last minute, bringing the saber back to life once more. She wasnt trying to behead him, but she would like to repay him for the fine scar, she was sure to have. TAG: Manticore |

Manticore
Sith Tournament As expected, Manticore herd his opponent say, "Yes" to his suggestion that they should continue. He held back a grin, that simply appeared as a sinister smile. This shadow, his opponent, began to move around him, looking for an opening that Manticore would not give as he tracked the opponet, always keeping him in direct line of attack. Manticore's shadowy opponent got within striking range and brought the saber-sythe downwards, in a direct overhead chop. It was an obvious attack that which Manticore did not trust, suspecting it to be a set-up, but he could not ignore it either, since it came at him pretty fast. The blood red zabrak began the parrying motion as he thought of a counter strike, and just at the point of impact, his opponent turned off the saber-scythe and suddenly brought up the lower end quickly to deliver a viscious uppercut type blow. Manticore's parrying lightsaber passed it's target with a hum and continued in its trajectory. The blood red zabrak knew he'd fallen for a trap! But he refused to be victimized by it! His second lightsaber flashed quickly in order to deflect the uppercut blow....and MISSED!! The blunt end of the Saber-sycthe suddenly changed directions as it rose. His opponet performed a double feint on him, and he'd fallen for it like a rank amateur! Manticore's anger fueled his focus as he refused to be shaken by the exchange. The true attack was coming and he would NOT be had by such tricks. In the end, it was the combination of Darkside enhanced abilities along with his combat prowess that saved him. Manticore's main weapon hand slashed upward just as he pivoted and caught the igniting Saber-sythe just over his shoulder, but at a cost. Once again, the unusual curvature of the unique weapon came into play. If the luminescent blade was the shape of a standard lightsaber, Manticore's block would have been perfect, but the hooking nature of the Saber-sythe was proving its designed advantage. The brillinat red tip of his enemy's weapon had found the back of his shoulder. The fiery tip touched his flesh just so, enough to burn him and leave it's indelible mark. Manticore accepted the pain and let it fuel his anger even further, he opened himself even more to the darkside and it's power as he snarled angrily and immediately executed a counter move. In a flash, he pivoted counter clockwise from under his enemy's weapon while he slashed at his midsection with his off-hand. Still moving in a cricle while attempting to stay on his opponent's unprotected flank, his main hand slashed diagonally upward, looking for an arm or midsection. The three part move ended with a powerful side thrust kick, which he delivered with much pent up anger, hopefully at the area he slashed. At this point he was inside his opponent's weapon range, as he looked for his kick to find some ribs or at least knock the wind out of him. If successful, that alone would be enough for him to put an end to their debacle. Inside of the blood red zabrak's combat aware mind, he could not help but to acknowledge his opponet's combat ingenuity and skill. That last trap nearly had him. They were simply too evenly matched... and THAT was more than enough reason to bring the fracas to an end. Of course, he suspected his opponent would not be so agreeable to his view of things. IC: Kat'a
Kat'a brought up her lightsaber to block the blow that her opponent had aimed at her shoulder. That was rather easy..Shavit! It had been a trick to catch her off-guard, as Mistress Shadowflame struck downward at her leg. Kat'a tried to block this, too, as fast as she could, but was of no avail. She let out a little growl as the blade met her leg and burned, and quickly she jumped backward in an attempt to regroup, keeping her saber up all the while. Tag: Rilwen |

Nim Sith Tournament Nim watched as she expected, the red Zabrak parried the first swing she had feighned. Had attepmpted to block her second attack, and missed. She she made her point, so to speak at her third and true attack. His main weapon hand slashed upward just as he pivoted and caught the igniting Saber-sythe just over his shoulder, but at a cost. He had forgotten about her curved blade. The brillinat red tip of her weapon had found the back of his shoulder. The fiery tip touched his flesh just so, enough to burn him and leave it's indelible mark. He snarled angrily and immediately executed a counter move. Now she had learned something of this zabrak, and that was like her, he NEVER stayed still for long. As he began to move, so did she. She yanked back her weapon's sythe to be closer to her, even as he pivoted underneath. She barely had time to twist the polearm of the weapon fast enough to block a slash at her midsection. She fell backwards, moving to open up the space between them, and fur was caught by his powerful upwards slash. She rolled several times before she stood once more. She then grunted softly. She noted the head of the Sith had walked into the room, watching the fights. She looked back towards the Zabrak, and growled deep. It was liked they had trained together, for he was very adapt at picking out her moves. With another grunt, She spun her saber. "This is pointless." Nim then began to chuckle deeply. "Pleasing. But pointless, unless you wish a death." She waited to hear what would be said. They would both be using bacta this night. Tag: Manticore anyone else. |

Manticore
Sith Tournament Manticore did not pursue the shadow this time as it fell back to gain some room between them. He was quickly realizing the countering potential of the unusual weapon and the skill of his opponet. Besides, he was also controlling the crashing waves of rage inside of him. He was at the very edge of a berserker rage and he had no wish to kill his opponent unless the Sith master wished it. In that case, he would gladly finish things and claim the Saber-Sychthe for is own. Almost as if in answer to his mental question, the blood red zabrak distinctly felt the presence of Sith Master Draconis, and with it, he also felt a sensation that the duel should come to an end, however, that part seemed to be open to interpretation. Manticore's fiery eyes fell upon his opponent, who had by now recovered. The Shadow, he had to admit, was very skilled and could make either a formidable opponent or ally. Either option suited Manticore well, for they both fulfilled a purpose, but as it was, the shadow was neither at the moment, but just another sith, like himself, performing a duty. The shadow spun it's weapon, then spoke. "This is pointless." Manticore could not agree or disagree with that statement, for it was a subjective one. His opponet chuckled, then ammended it's statement. It alsmost seemed that he'd read manticore's thoughts. "Pleasing, but pointless. Unless you wish a death." The blood red zabrak smiled slightly. This shadow reached the same conclusion as he did and seemed ready to do what was needed. Yes, Manticore liked this shadow....ally or opponent, either one would do just fine. Holding his crouched stance, Manticore turned his head just so, in order to keep the Sith master and the shadow in his line of sight. All the sith master had to do was give the signal, and they could both walk out of the tournamnt with only their minor injuries....or just one of them would walk out....at all. Tag: NIM, Draconis |

As her opponent jumped back, Rilwen continued forwards, trying not to let Kat'a get time enough to regroup or organise a response. The redhaired Sith's lightsabers flicked out, like snakes' tongues, in a number of swift, stinging attacks, alternating her individual lightsabers as attack and defense, moment by moment. She wouldn't score a serious blow this way, but lesser wounds might be inflicted, and it was less risky. Rilwen had already landed one blow, without bringing undue danger to herself. After all, she'd been trained for precision, for striking during opportunities...and had, most of the time, a fair sense for self-preservation. Better to wear down this opponent, than to expose herself in a full strike and risk losing the fight, limbs, even her life. She'd seen many fighters felled during those so-impressive charging attacks. Tag: Kat'a This post has been edited by Rilwen_Shadowflame on Mar 5 2008, 03:01 AM |

Nim Sith Tournament Nim chuckled softly, as she and her opponent stood facing each other. They had both come to the same conclusion. Unless the Dark Lord wanted them to kill each other, they had come to an empass. Moments passed, before she would get her answer. She had been declared the winner, in a contest far too close. She would have to practice with her weapon more. With a flourish, Nim turned towards the Zabrak. "An interesting battle. I look forward to another match, at another time." Nim's firey eyes stared intently at the Zabrack. She gave a small 'woof' as a deep chuckle. "I am called Nim. And I have found our little contest, most pleasing, Zabrak." With another chukle, she slipped the goggles up on her eyes, hiding their firey stare, and with a turn, left the arena. She had a few marks, that bacta would need to attend to, while she studdied her battle later, to make improvements on her technique. All in all, a most enjoyable battle. TAG:Manticore, if you want. |

Ktala Sith Tournament Ktala had stood along the sidelines, watching the battle. She knew that she had won her first battle. And now, she waited to see who it would be that she fought next. It did not take long. The Dark Lord had spoken. Championship: Ktala v. Rilwen_Shadowflame Ktala raised an eyebrow. Making sure the double sabers she carried were strapped in their proper places, she entered the arena. She was not sure what to expect, but she was not worried. She stepped back, waiting for her opponent to arrive, as she mental reflected on the battle ahead, calling the darkside to her, as she stood silently, waiting. TAG:Rilwen_Shadowflame |

Having warmed-up thoroughly on the way, the young Sith slipped into the the room to begin her second duel. Her opponent was already there, but seemingly had neglected to prepare. Remaining hidden, body and Force presence alike, Rilwen appraised her foe. Interesting...another Sith with dual sabers. Now, how to begin this? Why not with an attempt to disconcert the other woman? Malice flitted across Rilwen's pale face as she approached, cat-quiet, turning up behind Ktala. This was a duel, not an assassination. Therefore attacking now would not be suitable...and would deprive Rilwen of a chance to test herself again in combat. Still, no reason why she couldn't startle Ktala a bit... She held a lightsaber hilt in each hand, and spoke. "I hope you have not been waiting long." She let her grasp on the meditations that masked her Force presence drop at this moment, so that she would in effect have appeared into the range of Ktala's awareness. A heartbeat later, her lightsabers ignited. A faint smirk touching her lips, Rilwen waited for Ktala to face her, so that the duel could begin. Tag: Ktala |

SORRY, had technical difficulties. Im back now.....
Ktala As she stood, gathering the withing and around her, she was aware. Eyes might be closed, but she could 'feel' the change as another had entered the room. Subtle changes made themselves known. She made no move as she felt whom she assumed was her opponent flitter into the areana, and close in. A female voice soon spoke out, "I hope you have not been waiting long." Ktala smiled, as she heard the sound of lightsabers ignite, and she reacted by flipping herself forward, the darkside filling motions, her sabers engaging as she moved, landing in a low stance with sabers held and low and high block. Ktala answered her opponent. "No, not long at all. Shall we?" Twin sabers against twin sabers. It should be a most interesting match indeed. Ktala spun her sabers slowly, as she began to move in a circle, looking... Feeling the darkside swell within the chambers, Ktala decided to move first. WIth force filled movements, Ktala swept in a semi-circle movement, with her left saber doing an upwards slash from her opponents left hip to right shoulder, while her right blade shielded her from incoming attacks. "No, not long at all. Shall we?" "Certainly." Rilwen matched Ktala's circling, eyes wary, prepared for the sudden strike that could come her way at any moment. Inevitably, it came, with Ktala only using one lightsaber to attack, as was to be expected. Deftly, Rilwen stepped back slightly and shifted one of her lightsabers, the left, into an angled defensive position, preventing the strike from landing, and allowing Ktala's slash to slide up the blade and away, without touching Rilwen. However, this was not the entirety of Rilwen's response. Her other lightsaber flicked down, into a slash at her opponent, the tip of the lightsaber intended to strike at about knee-level. A counter-strike, made easier by letting the force of Ktala's own blow move one of her lightsabers out of position. Better still, the lightsaber used to defend was held poised, ready to defend or add another attack, depending on how Ktala reacted. Tag: Ktala |

Ktala Sith Turnament Rilwen matched Ktala's circling, both looking for the strike that was to come. As Ktala moved in, sabers slashing. Ktala swept in a semi-circle movement, with her left saber doing an upwards slash from her opponents left hip to right shoulder, while her right blade shielded her from incoming attacks. Rilwen deftly stepped back slightly and shifted one of her lightsabers, the left, into an angled defensive position, preventing the strike from landing, and allowing Ktala's slash to slide up the blade and away, without touching Rilwen. Ktala noted the sabers movement, apprasing each as she continued her movements. Her opponenet was using duel sabers, same as she. This made things much more interesting. Rilwen's other lightsaber flicked down, into a slash at her opponent, the tip of the lightsaber intended to strike at about knee-level, which Ktala's other blade was able to parry. As their lightsabers clashed, Ktala was thinking ahead, using the darkside to strengthen her moves, as she spun about. As she spun her blades, she rolled, and went into a low stance. Now, with both blades moving in unison, she spun them in a deadly unison, and then struck with both blades, coming in at opposites sides in a wicked double scissor slice as they moved. Ktala never stopped moving, as she moved through her attacks, not leaving herself to be a still target. Tag: Rilwen This post has been edited by Ktala on Mar 14 2008, 06:18 PM |

Rilwen was actually enjoying this duel, even though Ktala had managed to block her strike. It was challenging, more so than usual, since her opponent was talented, and also bore two lightsabers. With both of them dual-wielding, strikes were a lot trickier to land...especially without incurring a counterstrike. The redhead saw Ktala spin and strike up from a low stance, in a scissor slice. Now, normally a fighter's instinct would be to step back from such an attack. Rilwen, on the other hand, opted for a more unexpected tactic. She charged into the attack, shifting her lightsabers to block both sides of the attack, moving in to a point where Ktala wouldn't be able to readily pull her blades back from the extension of the attack, and thus would find it harder to hit her. Keeping her lightsabers directed to holding Ktala's away from her body, Rilwen snapped a close-range kick up, that would likely catch Ktala in the lower belly. She made the kick as swift as possible, to minimise the amount of time where there would be risk, and kept her sabers poised. If Ktala tried to bring her blades in, it would actually be quite simple to relieve her of her arms on the way in. Not to mention, arms held wide that way were an aid to balance. Tag: Ktala |

Manticore
Sith Tournament They both stood facing each other. They had both come to the same conclusion. Unless the Dark Lord wanted them to kill each other, they had come to an impass. Moments passed, before there was an answer. Sith Master Draconis took his time as he delivered his unequivocal judgement. Manticore accepted the judgement passed and bowed to the Sith master, then nodded respectfully to his arena opponent, which was declared the victor by a small margin. That was no consolation, however. So, the 'shadow' had been declared the winner in their contest of arms. It was deemed far too close to tell, but there had to be a winner. Manticore's fiery gaze rested upon his opponet. He saw his opponent perform a flourish before addressing him. "An interesting battle. I look forward to another match, at another time." Nim's firey eyes stared intently at the Zabrack. She gave a small 'woof' as a deep chuckle. "I am called Nim. And I have found our little contest, most pleasing, Zabrak." "I am Manticore." the blood red zabrak rasped in response. "A most intriguing weapon. But yes, a good match. Another time then." Manticore was feeling the draining effects of being so close to a berserker rage and NOT yielding to it's bloodletting power. It took an incredible amount of will power to hold it back and the results of staying at the very edge of a rage were even more draining than he had anticipated, but he did not let that show at all. With a sharpness that belied his oncoming fatigue, the blood red zabrak gave a final nod and departed the arena. His opponet however gave another chukle, then slipped his goggles on, hiding their firey stare, and with a turn, also left the arena. Finally, Manticore could venture out and kill many somethings with complete abandon. There was no other way to vent his frustrations. This time, there would be NO holding back with the force. Simply put, winning meant life and losing meant death. THIS was the TRUE contest of arms...and he expected no less from his 'victims'. Ktala Sith Trials Ktala spun, her blades a whirling in their own path as she moved, seeking a target. Ktala executed a scissor slice, was was suprised to see Rilwen actually charge into the attack. The unusual move immediately put her on guard. Rilwen moved her lightsabers to block both sides of the attack, moving in to a point where she would have to be careful, not to taste the sting of Rilwen's blades. Suddenly, Rilwen snapped a close-range kick up, and seeing the dangers, Ktala opted to take the kick, as she was already in motion. As Rilwen's foot impacted with he midsection, Ktala snapped off her sabers for a split second to free them from the hold that Rilwen was holding them, then bringing them back to life swinging directly in front of her, even as she began to move away from Rilwen, absorbing the force of the kick. Ktala flipped back, rolling, and came up in a crouch.. Her eyes narrowed as she now had her left lightsaber dancing in a figure 8 movement. The other she held, blade down close to her body. Rilwen had quite a quick, but the blow had been quick. Ktala focused the darkside to her now, as she leaped forward. Ktala kept her left saber moving, her movements a blur, while she hid the second saber, waiting for the moment to strike, so Rilwen would not be able to 'read' her saber. She waited until she had engaged Rilwen with her figure 8 attack, before executing an upward slice, with the hidden hand. But she suddenly changed directions with the weapon, turning the upwards slice to a direct thrust to the midsection. As she did, she used her left hand to throw a punch suddenly, even while her footwork moved her around in a half circle around Rilwen. TAG: Rilwen Shadowflame |

Rilwen watched Ktala carefully. Her opponent would no doubt be wanting to pay her back for that kick. But then, neither of them were really the sort to keep their fighting all above-board...as would be expected, their both being Sith. She was tapping into her awareness within the Force, awaiting any clue, visual or not, that might betray Ktala's actions. The Assassin fended off the figure-eight moving lightsaber, from what small distance she could keep. Of course, her other lightsaber was held ready to defend against Ktala's second, which would almost certainly come into play. Her blade moved to intercept the upward slice, and it was only through a very quick change of direction that she managed to shift its position to ward off the blow to her midsection. Exasperated, she lifted some of her fingers away from the hilt for a moment, flicking a Force push towards Ktala. Hopefully, it would get her to back off a little. Then, there was the extra trick, the one she hadn't expected. Another attack with the lightsaber she'd previously fended off. Of course, this many attacks bespoke a remarkable ability on Ktala's part. Rilwen shifted her feet, turning her body to avoid the punch. As she did so, she took several rapid steps away from Ktala, raising her lightsabers to avoid follow-up attacks. Having backed away somewhat, she gathered herself in a defensive stance. She'd needed the extra space to prepare herself. Truly, this duel was more challenging than any she'd been in for a while. Tag: Ktala |
