There are times in one’s life that you start things with great enthusiasm and lots of energy because you have decided to do something that you really want to do. And then you work at it with fervor for many months to make it what you wanted it to be. That’s the way we started the other forum.

Today I have been going through the process of organizing the closing of the forum, and I have had very mixed emotions. I spent several hours reading some of the 53,000 posts that are there. It really makes me sad to realize that there will be no more posts and that it is likely that some of us may never share our thoughts again in the same place. I hope that the members of the other forum will join us at TPL and continue the conversation. At the same time, I am happy to move on as the forum had lost pace and had become irrelevant.

There have been many people involved in the effort. I have grown close to them, and their shared work ethic and tireless devotion has moved me in ways that I would not have anticipated. The fact that the forum ultimately failed is no reflection on the efforts of those involved. Thanks to all of you.

I started the USF1 blog hoping that we could create a community of like minded fans while expanding the capabilities of communication beyond the limits of a forum. But, blogs do not allow reader generated content like forums do. That in itself is a big flaw. In order to complete the circle, I reached back to my forum roots: The Pit Lane.

In conversations with Piquet Fan and Norbert, I found a refreshing willingness to forget old sins and start anew. I want to thank them for their gracious acceptance. Other people at TPL that I spoken to have also been very gracious in their comments and demeanor. I want to say thanks to all of you as well.

Sportsman, Paul Murtagh and I have rejoined the TPL conversation with renewed energy. We hope to contribute in a productive way that helps to further TPL’s success.

My sincere thanks to everyone. Now let's go start an argument! Refueling?

I feel the level of technical discussion on TPL has already improved and hopefully a new era of growth for TPL and your excellent partner site has begun..
