Lorenzo ran him close but made too many mistakes to keep the pressure up. Stoner's illness and absence also helped his cause this season. He may not be that fortunate next season. Rossi showed a lot of determination though, the factors above take nothing away from that. But, he's also made uncustomary mistakes at times.
